Probably because every time someone posts a new thread that hasn't hired a private detective and a linguist to find every possible combination and permutation of a subject from a previous post, they get leaped on by wannabemods and mods themselves for starting new threads on subjects previously covered.

So, if someone searched a topic they wanted, read it, then contributed nothing useful to the discussion, what do you say to that. Sometimes I refer links to others so that they can read what's there, they don't need to add anything, it's just there so they can get the information they need.

People tell others to search to prevent useless threads from being made, that already exist. If someone doesn't have any insight or useful information on the topic, why post?

Every video game eventually suffers a slow death, as people play it over time and approach 100% completion (saturation? LOL) they will either lose interest in it and/or gain interest in other games. It is just a matter of time. For me, I still play GT2/3/4, if that gives you an idea. Call me a fanboy, I don't care. I'm not bashing other racing games, I'm just saying that I love motorsports and I love Gran Turismo. GT5 is the best yet and I seriously don't know if I will ever get bored with it. The online part alone will keep me playing for years, as long as there are servers to run it.

Correct.

GT5 is leaps and bounds over anything in the console market that vaguely suggests itself as a sim racer.

Owning LFS, RFactor 1 and 2 (beta), Project C.A.R.S (alpha), Shift 2, and for a short time 'iRacing' (the most competitive sim racer on the market),
GT5 has by far been the greatest experience in all aspects of itself, including enjoyment, immersion, accessibility and overall lifespan!

If GT5 is dying for you, find some cool friends through GTP, and consider buying a wheel.

It's supposed to. You're not expected to play a single game for several years. You play the game for a while and then move on. It isn't realistic to expect PD to keep adding a ton of content and keep making GT5 into totally new, totally-updated games every so many months so that you don't get bored. It's always been standard to get your fill of a game and move on until the sequel.

I hope they don't give you more tracks and whatnot because you should have moved on already. If a player can remain interested in a game for several years, that's great for them, but not a reasonable expectation. A reasonable expectation would be maybe so many months and then go play other stuff until GT6.
 
My opinion as follows.
What are your hobbies. As for me im a motorsport fanatic and most on gt planet are the same. I have platinum status and have absolutley no intention of puting this game back in the box. Never mind the shelf lol. Completing the game just for a trophy to add to ur collection makes me understand why you dont like it. Your not a motorsport fan lol. Gran turismo forever. Lewis hamilton to win f1 championship

1. If someone revives an old thread and has no insight or anything useful to add, why are there another 15 responses to this thread today?

2. If someone searched a topic they wanted, read it, then contributed nothing useful to the discussion, what I say to that is, "Good for them, he revived the thread, disagreed with something and obviously it is still a topic of interest to some people". I'd consider that something useful.

They guy had an opinion, it was short and sweet, so what?. Just because he didn't use the King's English or didn't swallow a thesauras, doesn't mean his contribution isn't as valid as anyone else's.
 
Oh PD are the best!

This game will last me years cos I don't mind strange suspension settings, badly modelled tyres, iffy physics, bugs, glitches, archaic multiplayer, lack of events, poor AI, magic oil, magic indestructible cars, magic slipstream, infant school level areodynamics, Heavy Japanese bias, only 17 Race moddable cars, lack of new cars, lack of DLC and waiting forever for everything!

Yeah, great game, love it!

I can see myself playing GT5 right up to the day when GT6 is released :D
 
I wouldn't say dead I'm jumping between gt5,forza 3, forza 4 and tdu2 so as long as we keep playing its never dead.
 
Gamers plz go home and keep off GT5 forums. Just because you got a veyron in every colour and are bored now, doesn't mean GT5 is dead.

Gt5 isn't slowly dying , instead it gets bumped to the top of my playing list just like this thread.

Might be true but isn't there people who play prologue still even though they don't have servers for it?
 
GT5 is over a year old, so obviously it's not as popular as it was a year ago as most people have "beaten" it and moved on. Considering it's "age" though, it's holding up quite nicely. Online is still full of people, this forum is still active ( I just wish it had less crap on it) many great leagues are still racing, GTP OLR, and DLC and developer support are still happening as well as GT Academy if you want to count that. Can't forget other forums such as Tunerpit, etc. Lots of people still play, and over the past couple months, I've noticed many fast, competitive, clean, and friendly people online, while the kids, dirty racers, and idiots have basically moved on, which is good with me. Been playing Rfactor lately and I still play on GT5, I love the game.

I started playing at the start of the year am at level 40 A spec and 40 B spec now 100% game golded everything thes only 2 vettel challenges to gold then i have my platinum so for offline thes nothing to do

As for online same again allways the same old same old we need something new puting in the game like a drag racing track or more new tracks like silverstone

With the money they got from all the people that got the DLCs and Gran Turismo cant be that hard up to buy rights for to have porsche and to put some more new tracks in like come on they made millions from this game put some money back in for your fans !

Would having some Porsches in the game really make the game more appealing enough to bring you back from the brink? If you feel the way you do, I don't see how it could. Frankly, I'm still enjoying the game thoroughly, but perhaps I don't play it as often as you. Maybe the root of the problem lies in there somehow.
 
GT5 is dead for me and I've moved on to Forza. GT5 just doesn't have the replay value the other GT games had IMO. And no, I have no interest in online in this game since there is no matchmaking like in GT5P. I would play GT5 a lot more if it had that. I don't have time to dedicate to leagues. The fact there is no quick way for me to race in a certain car I want to try for example, kills GT5's online for me.

So now, I just check seasonals every other Wednesday, hoping a new and original event will show up.

Online is only as good as the people you play with. I agree it has improved a lot, as someone stated above. If you dedicate some time to online, chances are you'll build a good list of friends. Also, try shuffle races.
