This is supposed to be more realistic than GRID?

im on lvl23 and i can say without a doubt that the damage has increased, the front bar on my lambo was only just holding on on 1 side even my standard cars damage seems to have improved

Yep ignore all the about posts, they are wrong. except the guy above me. Damage is what it is from lv 0 and on.

Cars sound awesome on my TV.

Do you know what a pushrod v8 sounds like at 8-10k RPM? Doesn't sound like your small block 350 my friend.

Ya surprisingly PD got many engine and exhaust sounds right, as long as you don't change the exhaust, most cars sound realistic. Who ever thought sound would be the one thing PD won't have to patch.

May I refer you to the epic whining and crying thread...

Uhh.... you will have to be more specific, the forums here and all over the internet are filling up quickly with tearful threads.👎

It's the same old boring argument so I won't comment on damage itself

However...

What an appalling comparison.

In an FPS the object is to shoot other people to kill them.

In GT5 the object is to avoid the other cars and win races.

So in fact rather than "Same thing here" they are complete opposites...

No, sorry... In a FPS, the OTHER guy's job (online) is to shoot YOU. That's why it's allowed. What fun would it be if ONLY you could shoot your opponents, but they couldn't shoot you? In GT5, if they are ALLOWED to crash into you, THEY WILL...

Welcome to 'Basherland' :yuck:

Without a damage system that severely limits your ability to continue a race (or at least be competitive), it's going to be a piñata-fest online. Kids will be kids. Look at what happened to Shift, online. Because damage wasn't mandated, the kids all took it off, and turned a game that actually wasn't bad into an exercise in frustration or anyone actually wanting to RACE.

Personally, I would LOVE it if GT5 SOUNDED like a real collision. It's a horrible sound, anyone who has been in a real wreck never wants to hear it again. But I feel like I've driven into a tympani when I hit things in GT5! Doesn't sound like a crash at all. Doesn't behave like a crash. Doesn't LOOK like a crash. Of the three, looking like a crash is the only one that taxes the PS3. Don't try to make out like it can't be done. Just forget the visual damage.

BTW, I played GT5p briefly, about a year ago. I seem to remember getting hefty engine cuts whenever I drove into an AI opponent. I also received them for sideswiping the walls. Whatever happened to THAT? GT5, IMO, is even WORSE than GT5p at least in this regard.

So, sorry MarkyMark (snicker!)... If you think having virtually indestructible cars and a cartoon sound instead of a collision sound is GOOD, just wait until online racing works! May all your opponents be basher kids..! After all, avoiding THEM seems to be what you think the game should be. Unfortunately, they are NOT going to be avoiding YOU...:nervous:

It's so much easier during races to not have to worry about damaging your car. Just fly into a corner on the inside and use the cars on the outside to keep you on the track. It's simple!

posting the exact same thread in both GT planet and Playstation forum, wow...you must really be desperate after attention

Attention? I don't need any attention from a forum. I posted here because they MOVED my thread over on the Playstation Forum. At least they arent going to freak out about a thread criticizing an aspect of the game here.

why bother yourself with damage realism when 90% of the cars in GT5 are under 100hp and thus incapable of causing any damage ...

Grid has the most over-reactant damage ever outside of tremendously large life ending multi car pileups.

Nudge? Oh hey, let's take your hood and crumple it up like some TP. You don't need that fender, let's smash that a lot, your splitter? Pahlese, you left that in the gravel 5 turns ago. lol

...yet still it's head and shoulders above anything PD have ever put out. Strange world.

I didn't bother reading the whole thread, just the first post and a few more bellow that one.

The ****** online lobbies and mostly the AI has turned me off from playing this game completely.
I havn't touched my 700$ wheel setup and this game for 5 days now.

The AI behaves in such a stupid way it's just not fun.
You either race alone in front with the AI miles behind you.
Or you have the AI ramming you like it was a ****ing destruction derby.

This along with many other flaws the game have makes it just not fun to play.
I am considering ebaying my game and just enjoy other much better racing games with my **** expensive wheel setup i got just for this game.

NOTHING can change the fact this game has been in development for so long and that the AI is pure ****.

If we had proper multiplayer i couldn't care less since i find nothing fun about playing the AI in any kind of games, but the AI in GT5 is really retarded and boring.

I completely agree... Only thing keeping me from selling this game is the hope that PD might fix these issues fairly soon. To be honest, I didn't buy the game to race AI anyway. Just HAVE to do it to get those XP's and cr. at the moment. Can't wait for them to add credits and XP for online.

I used to play Shift, and haven't raced an AI since... well, I can't even REMEMBER when I raced the AI, last...! Only REAL competition is racing humans. But you HAVE to mandate damage otherwise the kids will do to GT5 what they did to Shift, and turn it into Burnout Paradise/Mario Kart with supercars.

Personally, I think that Kaz should HAVE to play online for an hour a day, and NOT with his Friends. Bet you all the bugs and idiotic behavior got a patch REAL fast if that happened!

If you need to do that to stay on the track, you suck. Its unlikely you'll even get 3rd doing that in the later races.
