I might have to join you on the S-Tune. Need to take my Merc record back first though.
Keep to your Mercedes, the S-Tune is ours! *cracks knuckles* :trouble:

Don't anger the Grinch, he is quite right to ask for the S7 to be permanently banished from here...

Cheers Deathwish, anyone got a challenge for that? I know there's more there :sly: :)

Hi v-tec civic, that's an original car to start with (although I get the feeling I've said that for the TVR too often for it to be true :p), think you can get some more out of it? 👍

Without wanting to anger people, I 've taken the Saleen S7 up to 296.xx mph, and I'm still tweaking.

I do have a question though, how much is the Body Stiffness/Rollcage/Increased Rigidity upgrade affecting maximum speed, and similarly with the Body Refresher Program?

I've been running all my cars with the body refresher, and most with the rollcage. I get the impression though, that both of these actually reduce speed. Has anyone been able to prove this, and even better, can anyone explain why?

Aw man i was gona tell every one i got mine up to 295:grumpy:
Im still tweaking to and not using a rollcage. Good job anyway may the best man win

S7s (or at least one) have been taken to 298mph here before, if I recall correctly

I'll tell you as much as none of my 300mph cars have a rollcage, and they never will. Think about your spring rates, then think about buying a part labelled 'stiffness'... :p
As for the Rigidity Refresher, I haven't really noticed anything as using a car old enough to need it isn't recommended. I don't think it cuts down top speed, just makes the car easier to handle in the turn.

Wow,, Have I posted that much already,,:):D Nice little fact,, anwyays I'm working on my own little 'project' ( since Viper is not around I can use that word now can I :nervous: He isn't going to beat me up is he? ) Maybe,, just maybe I'll throw myself in another skyline project:D

BTW:  To above post from DE,, you explained it very well:) Your question answered Masterstorm?

Well only kind of. For example, the stiffening stiffens the roll cage and bady, not the suspension. You may find this odd but I don't actually drive in real life, so mostly my ideas for tuning are based on physics. But i'm having a hard time seeing how a stiffer body applies in a physical sense.

With the body refresher, you usually get up to 600/700 or so miles before getting HP drops, so I think it would make a pretty real difference towards the end.

Has anyone actually proven that either of the upgrades reduce (or even improve) speed.

Though I'm not sure what car it was (I think it was the TS020), putting both of those on the second-hand-mary version lowered the top speed from 364 to 361. Granted, it was an unscientific test, but still.

(Probably not going to beat you up, no :p) But if you do go for a Skyline, I will beat you (but not necessarily up  ) 👍

It's nice to know that my thoughts were probably right, Toronado, but it's a shame you didn't test them seperately, it could be either of the mods doing that... But I'm pretty sure it's the rollcage that drops the speed, or at least on most cars.

I'll set up a test for it, using my R8 (which is still under development), an 88C-V and an R34 Skyline.

Sup my ni!- oh wait, better not say that...

Anyway, nothing new to report. Im still a little suprised that Toronado hasnt chased down my no nos record. Are you feeling alright Toronado?:dunce:

Perhaps if you increase the record a little, he'll come after you :sly: or otherwise you'll have to aim at some other things! 👍

I'll do some rollcage and refresher testing tonight, with a good number of runs. Whilst I'm at it, do you wan't me to test into tyres? I think most setups use R5/R5 or R5/R3, but thats just speculation, and it'd be nice to give you all some info in regards to that. :)

Well, tires are a little more confusing, in that it is generally regarded (at least it used to be) that harder compounds increase top speeds, but softer compounds increase cornering speeds.

The Lotus Esprit comes before every other car. So far I've beaten MasterStorm with the '02. Now I'm just gunning for 312.5. I haven't started work on the '98 yet.

The Lotus Esprit comes before every other car.
👍 for that!

The tyres are indeed a more complex thing, but in all honesty (although harder compounds do increase top speeds) the cornering speed gained by using R5s cancels anything else out.

There are several cars where using R5's on the rear will actually slow your overall speed by a few mph. Theres a very certain condition where switching to R3's is beneficial.

Do you know how many times I tried diferent tire combonatioins with my GT1 to get the max grip around the corners?

Only 2 tiimes:lol:

Well so far in the race to 350mph league...I topped it with my Toyota 88CV Minolta car at 350.88mph with NOS without doing the wheelie.

And just yesterday I hit 344.59mph with the Pescarolo Playstation car with NOS without the wheelie. I'll get a screenshot soon!

Now working on the Bentley Speed 8 car and it's at 318mph!

Alrighty, I'm confused. Soft tires aren't good for top speeds?

I always use Super-Soft.

Congrats to you DE for your new speed in months!

I´ve tried all thinkable tyrecombinations on all sorts of cars, and my conclusion is...it depends on the car! Most cars benfit from R5 though, but some cars need combos of some sorts. I´ve yet to encounter a car that benefits from R1 all around though.

My 2 cents.

Thanks 👍 I'm glad it was a Skyline! :)
My subtle hint in the Rate-the-above-Sig thread must have worked :dopey:

Hi xtwilightseerx, good to see a new member firing off speeds with plenty of cars! Look forward to some screenshots for the Bentley and the Pescarolo :)

"My team of experts and I have conducted varied tests on this subject, and our conclusion is... inconclusive" :p
But seriously, I expected that. It's a good thing really, it means there's no set rules for tyres at high speed - you have to learn it as you go along. Just like everything else here! :D

Looking forward to it, I-Runner, give me an excuse to take her out again! 👍
