;) ;) ^^Go there Rac3rX^^ 👍 Nice record for the TS020!! ;)

Thank you

Im curently working on a List of Vids from my capture card, its going to be sweet, look out for it, I got alot of fresh replays.

sorry bout the many posts ... i went back and tried to delete them but i couldent

cant take a vid as i dont have a capture card or a camcorder so no record for me :) im just happy i got up there with you guys

Rac3rX, I'm just as happy that we're sorted. Congratulations on the TS020 record, now all you have to do is chase down couttesy's 88C-V... Or try to :p I have been for a long time! I'm downloading the video now and you'll be on the leaderboard as soon as I've verified it 👍
Update, I've now watch the video. It's a 99.9% legit run, the 0.1% is lost from the shot as you come out of the tunnel I can just about see the nose lifting slightly, but I know from experience that that is part of the Churchill Effect, not yet a wheelie. So very well done, you now hold the TS020 speed record! By the way, impressive speed through the turn 👍 The video as a whole is very sweet.

Ooooh Eddie what you got what you got what you got???

Oh yeah, Low? You hold the Audi R8 record, don't you? Not any more you don't, I did 333.XX in my R8 yesterday morning :) I'll do it again and photograph it later today. I hope you left four mph of room for improvement :p 👍

Oh, and Earth I missed your Escudo comment, sorry. Well I've wondered about it often enough, so I took it out (this was about two months ago) to see what it could do, and the answer was not much. Because of the dodgy rallycar power bands, I only got mine to 285mph. However, I've learnt a great deal in tuning for speed since then, so perhaps now... I'll try it out again later and let you know.

Sorry for double-post but edit doesn't give the option to attach for some reason :irked:

Anyhoo, I just took a picture of my Audi R8 run. I have done better than this, in fact over half a mph faster, but this is sufficient for now. There's some room for improvement. Sorry for poor picture quality, my webcam and TV have fallen out again but it's legible anyway.

Audi R8 - 333.39mph

Hey all,

Once again I return with another barrier pushing record video this time getting 355.07mph in the Minolta 88C-V. Please check out the 8mb video clip link below and hopefully DE will be able to verify that my run was legit.

I really don't think I'll be able to squeeze much more out of this car with the maximum downforce settings as shown in the video but I will keep trying :)

Video

Congratulations once again couttsey, but I can't view the video :irked: the download simply won't go... Could you please use a different server, perhaps the same one Rac3r used as that works easily? Keep on going for 360mph  the quest for speed never ends! 👍

Oh, it's not too hard to get used to the bone-jarring vibration. Besides, in a straight line, provided your chassis is in decent nick, it doesn't matter. Sounds like you're either using an old car or the suspension is set too hard. Or perhaps you're bottoming or bouncing.

GT4 Freak
who cares 4 top speed anyhoo, if u want real fun take a AZ1 fully tuned with nos - now thats fun 👍

Yes, well, I too like going around corners, but, if ever you try this challenge, you'll find it becomes almost an academic exercise and you'll find out a lot about tweaks, power curves, aerodynamics, the GT4 physics model and especially gearing. Sure not everyone finds it fascinating, but variety is the joy of GTP...

DE, Closest was the Option Stream Z, on 292mph. But no aerodynamics to fiddle with, and I think I've reached optimum gearing, so I think that's it. :indiff:

Black beauties next, I've got a lot of plans for them. :dopey:

By the way my Sauber record stands (unconfirmed) at 316.16mph. 👍

Oh, and the Saleen lacks a turbo and power, topping out at 289mph 👎

Edit: Nissan R92CP (a red & white one) 332.16mph. I've recorded the vid for that one and photo'd the screen on my phone, but I don't yet know how I'm going to get them onto my computer :dunce: so it'll have to remain unconfirmed for now...

After a little NOS timing changes, I bumped the Esprit up a full 1/2 MPH:

I also now own the fastest French car in the land! And it's the older Pesky, not the newer one. It also has the most unorthodox set-up I've ever used to go above 300 MPH.

I also think my digital camera is going.

Well It Looks Like there Might Be a Little Competition Between us, I took the Record back again.

GT-One Land Speed Record 356.8mph

Click Here for Land Speed Record Video

A nice clean Vid so its clear all 4 wheels are on the ground at all times.

Im going to grab Esprit and see what I can do with her.
Nice job on the record. Also, feel free to grap an Esprit. A 3-way battle would be killer.

Well, a preliminary thing: beware of the Esprit on the banks. Unless you have the car set up right it will spin on the turns. And beware of Ozmac. He has a habit of upping your best within 10 minutes of you doing it.

I took the Toyota GT-One TS020LM and did the top speed test with correct rules and...

349.10 mph

I have no idea how you guys get 355+. You use maximum downforce, which in real life will never help a car's top speed, so I see it as abusing some sort of glitch in the game, like the wheelie cheat, so I'm not going to even bother trying to get 355

sorry but its noooo cheat (Dont be upset)

I can see the wheelie being a considered a cheat but not Full downforce

I said this many times, I had My Gt One at 350mph+ about 6 months ago, I just now spent the time getting a good lap to top her off at 356.8mph on vid to set our new record.

I got the New Land Speed Record of 356.8mph

Using all legit rules and regulations, with vid for proof.

Call it what you want, but if there is something in the game that can be done that goes against the laws of reality, especially in a racing sim, then I see it as a glitch.

If you can prove to me how adding downforce to your car in real life will increase your top speed, especially at 300mph+ I will see it as legit. Nobody adds aero downforce for top speed runs, they use extra weight to keep the car on the ground, aero drag is more costly than extra weight.

And if it sounds like I'm upset because I have no clue on how to get 356, its because I am

HAHAHAHAHAHA

That wasnt MY run where you saw the Added downforce

Mine is the 356.8mph run. You dont know what my downforce was, so what are you talking about?????????????????????????????????????

Dont be a sore loser.

My Downforce isnt Full, But just under. The reson its high is the added grip in the corner allows for a higher exiting speed to a higher top speed, the car is way too unstable at that speed without the DF, the DF dont forget adds stability.

TO get these speeds you need like 280-290mph Inside the corner and picking up with the NoS as you exit (The NoS is where it gets Crazy)

did look like your car was gett'n ready to do a wheelie .... not say'n you did but it was close ....

when i was do'n it i considered that minor lift the wheelie cause it would boost my speed so i ended up tuning to 350 without that lift ... hit like 370 or so when i took the front downforce off lol

At those speeds its hard to keep the nose from bobbing up and down, BUT important thing is, wheels were on the ground the whole time. I get 384mph + when I get her front wheels in the air. In my run THERE WAS NO WHEEL LIFT, as you can see the wheels were touching the gound as she passes the finish line and watch them on the ground the whole Vid. Show me a 350mph+ Vid with no"Church Hill" effect (What the bouncing is refered to)

It was a clean Run abiding By all the Rules.

356.8mph as the Record Stands

I'm staying well clear of Minoltas and GT-Ones as I don't have the video facility required to verify what I do, and besides, I don’t want to rattle the cage of the disbelievers.

So I'm just having fun with cars such as....

The Speed 12. 305.55mph

and the Supra: 301.68mph

Can't remember the fella's name who's trying on the Supra, but keep on trying man, it can be done!

A tip to Pescarolo pilots, you can do better, and so can I! 336mph.
But if you don't believe it, that's fine with me.

👍 Good work rac3rX 👍

I'm surprised that record fell to the GT-One, I thought the 88-CV would have it all the way!

The aerodynamics above 250mph are a bit weird, but in some ways that makes it more interesting, as people find new ways to go faster. Plus it's the same for everyone, so rock on!

A few comments intended to be helpful...

Earth, I've been successfully tuning cars in both GT3 and GT4 for speed, and the settings which make cars go max speed at Test Course in GT4 bear only a slight resemblance to the settings which worked best in GT3. My feeling is that GT4 is more wide of the "reality" mark than GT3 was, but GT3 was utterly weird at times. In fact, my general tip to "tuners" for speed at Test Course is to try anything and everything, even if it doesn't make theoretical sense, because there's a chance it might work.

Engine, transmission and gearing settings work conventionally and logically in GT3 and GT4, but chassis settings can be abnormal at times (in fact quite often).

I wouldn't get too hung up on the "glitch" idea. GT4 is just a cool game (probably the best available) trying to emulate reality. Yes, it definitely falls short and wide of reality, but this merely poses new and interesting problems for analytical, tuning-oriented minds to tackle (while playing a cool game). If you can tune a conventional car in the real world, you should be able to apply the same brainpower to tuning funny little electronic toy cars, too.

Rac3rX, congrats on your new record which just about takes the world record for land speed, but it's not up to you to say whetherit stands or not. I'm downloading your video now, but you need to be careful with your comments again, you're becoming a bit obnoxious.. Just so you know what I think, I don't want a repeat of pages 22-25.

Full downforce isn't a glitch, it's actually accurate because the downforce puts the wheels harder onto the ground so more of their power is used rather than wasted bouncing, so it's realistic physics if you think about it.

Eddie, I have tried the Option Z and I can't get it there either. I think the lack of downforce settings is definitely the problem.

UPDATE - Rac3rX, I've just watched your video and the car wheelies. There is a clear extended shot of the car with the front wheels holding off the ground and the speed rising at a constant rate, so the run does not count. Sorry.

Congratulations Ozmac, you're the one and only Supra 300mph pilot, and the car cannot wheelie as far as I know so I don't need a video to confirm it. Congrats on the Pescarolo too.

I can't update the leaderboard now because I'm not at home but I'll do it on Monday.
