Are you sure it has the most pull at redline? some of what I already try don't. some car (forget :guilty:) even has most power in the mid rpm :crazy:

Oops...what I meant was that it pulls strongest at near 6000rpm, not the redline, which is at 8000rpm.

Thank you all for the tips, unfortunately I probably won't be able to try them until this weekend because school year is nearing the end and exams are coming up.
 
I just realized something yesterday, in Rac3rX's video, he did what I did. He only showed the 368.7 and not the whole thing, 368.74

When I submited my speed I did the same as he did, only showing to the .X ammount. My speed was not legit like that, why is his?
 
I tried this challenge today and got my Toyota GT-One car up to 301 mph ...I set ride height to minimun, final gear ratios to lowest , shock rebound to 1 and used nos.......
Start using nos right after the corner (in gear 5) then shift to gear 6 and keep using nos ...I reached 301 mph and then hit the wall....It took the whole straight away to do it...but I done it:)

Im sure I can do better with the Minolta
 
I can easily pass 330 with the minolta. My best is 331.80mph but im pretty sure if i play with the settings more, I can get it over 340mph.

By the way...I didn't even touch weight distribution, or downforce.
 
I've tried my hands at attempting the big 3-0-0 with my Saleen, and but can't get it higher than 270, as I am not too skilled at precision tuning. I think I'll switch to a race car, as they have higher initial speeds and more settings like downforce that can really affect speed.
Is it just me or should the max speed test be more than 3/4 of a lap? I need more distance for some of these speeds, at least another full lap or so.
 
I think PD should make the top speed tester in GT5 a really, really long straightway. The corner robs you of the speeds and wastes time.

That is a good point, I assume he attached a screenshot right next to it. I'm guessing I let it pass because although .74 is the highest speed that would register as .7 on that screen, it was so far ahead of anything else. Although I wish I had thought of that at the time, because there was so few 350+ videos around I hadn't really outlined rules for them. But Couttsey would always show the Session Record, now you mention it.

who do i have to **** to get an updated overview of (road) cars used? it's not accurate now. i want to pick new roadcars to reach 300.

noop it's not. what i meant was that i need an overview of the road cars that currently have a >300mph record, so that i can look for other cars to make a 300 mph first with.

If you read the rules made by Dark Elite, the TVR speed 12 is considered a racecar. A few other cars are the same way. Please do not question this, since its been up for argue quite a few times already.

ok hold your horses. i'm not here to upset anyone. i should have read the rules better but there's so much to read ... :)
if i understand correctly the tvrs12 is the only roadcar considered a racecar and the merc is the only 300mph roadcar not on the roadcar list. if so i know enough. thanks!

I also saw the VW Nardo and the Honda NSX-R LM (the roadgoing version) on the racecar list, but I think that was about it.

Personally I think a Salt-flats look would be great. Dead easy to model. Make an off white, jigsaw look that resembles salt flat/dry lakebed, make it ininfintely large, have a backdrop of mountains surrounding the endless plain. You could drive for hours (if you wanted to) in any direction to attain the absolute limit of speed, which it is only recorded when you decide exit.

The max speed tests have never been long enough. Each consecutive GT has gotten a larger and larger test course, but it's never enough space. Getting rid all length limits and going endless could solve that. Then, there will always be room, and nothing could limit your car outside it's own design and tuning.

Back on topic, tomorrow I'll start testing my 88C-V. Of all my cars that could get to 300, this should be the best to start off with and learn how to tune to go as fast as possible.
 
Viperpilot/anyone, how did you do 300 in the srt 10, I only can do 293.26 thanks. (you guys already know i'm new at this) edit: sorry, tipo ,also I have a speed 12 (tricked out) that can't do 290 even tho. I have It's settings the way I saw others done
 
Your having trouble even getting to 200? What mods did you put on? Stage 4 Turbo (or stage 3 NA, can't remember which is for the Viper) and all available power upgrades should be enough, as the Viper is fast as hell stock. Have you tried setting the tranny towards wide, lowering the car as low as it can go and reducing downforce to minimum (if you have wings)? I haven't tried the Viper personally, but those mods should at least get you into the low 200s. From there, you can play with the tranny/suspension to squeeze the rest out.

Well, seeing as the leaderboard hasn't been updated since you posted your TVR speed, and there's already several Speed 12s on the leaderboard, it's hardly 'your' car, is it? As it happens, it isn't missed off the list. You will find it in the Racecar Class. And why must there be more? Unless someone can correct me, there are no more cars missed off my lists.

salt flats are actually bad example, because they're 1000m above sea level, where the air is thinner. thus, most of cars could never achieve their top performance there.. for example, veyron pushes out only 900ish horsepowers at salt flats. Nardo test ring or VW's proving grounds would be better.

On a small side note, if they do in clude some sprt of uphill/downhill, like pikes peak in GT2, they need to make the engine responce like mentioned above. If you have an engine with a turbo, it wont be as noticable. But on the other hand, An engine without the help of forced induction, will be left out to dry. The air just gets to thin and harder to suck in the engine.

So turbo/supercharger car will have a bit of an advantage over a NA engine

it was just that it looked like some roadcars were missing but i forgot to check for roadcars in the racecar list.
and off course the tvr is not my car, it was just a manner of speaking.

Actually, those settingtips are the complete opposite of what you should do. For the Viper (and most other 300 mph attempts), max rear downforce, no front downforce (or as low as possible). front rideheight max and rear lowest. Springs and dampers as low as possible, and set gearing really wide!

Aren't those the settings for the wheelie glitch? I thought the car should be as low as it can go with as little downforce on either end as possible.

On some cars, the max downforce on either end is not enoguh to do it,it illeagle anyway
