so if your car topspeed is more than 300 miles per hour than your are a proud memeber of the three hundred miles per hour club and you have to prove this with a photo? or a video?

Wait until you really start fine-tuning, you'll learn that those are some of the most important ones! ;)
Oh I know, it was toe settings which I PM'd viperpilot to push his RX-8 LM over 300mph. :)

Bigracer
after so much talk on the chapparal 2d i decided to give it a try... dono if i find the extra 3mph for the list record, but i cant upload vids anyway so i dont mind.
It's really tough. When you get to 308mph, just making a 0.05mph improvement seems impossible. :dunce:

And thanks again to Masterstorm,, for sending the mirror to DE,, and then beating my record:nervous: Congrats but you won't keep it for long:)
No problem, and I welcome the challenge! :D

Anyway... as soon as it's uploaded I have some personally awesome news!

Can I get a drum roll please?

here's my new record with the Audi R8 :D

Ok, so no-one gave me a drum roll, but my heads gonna explode if I don't post this up...

Chaparral 2D @ 308.86mph [screen] [video] [YouTube]

Yes that's right, after a monster ammount of work on this car, and some 1000+ test runs, I finally beat the record by 0.01mph!

Someone get me a beer!

Well done! :)

You dont need the kp/h screenshot (though it's nice to see), and it would be good if you could include links to full size versions rather than just the thumbnails, so it's easier to see.

I'm just being a little fussy heh. 👍

I reckon so. I mean, I use a 19" LCD monitor (very crisp) at 1280x1024 resolution and I have to look quite closely to make the vehicle name out. On my old 17" CRT I wouldn't be able to read it at this resolution, and I don't think I'd be able to at a higher resolution on any screen. If I have to look closely on what is a pretty good monitor, then it's too small. :)

Well wasn't a problem. I can read it, but I can imagine some other members won't be able to. :)

Dark Elite is the one who has to verify your run (and therefore admittance), but I can't see there being a problem. 👍

Hmm, just a thought, but Km/h will give a more accurate conversion to mph. Perhaps an exception could be made occasionally for accuracy's sake, to post speeds in Km/h?

FormulaGT

If everyone works in the same units then we dont end up with confusion and/or rounding errors which may lead to speeds being a few decimal places off. We don't know how accurate GT4's conversion is, and whether it works in kp/h or mph internally (or somthing different altogether), so we shouldn't try to complicate things. :)

Plus, '300mph Club' sounds much better than '482.8032kp/h Club'. :dunce:

Hehe. I wonder if they used the same principle as mine! *glances at Leo*

No. I've thought about that one, but for basically the reasons MasterStorm posted we couldn't do that.

Anyways, well done to all those with new/improved speeds, particularly MasterStorm for poking Toronado in the eye :p

I'm using my TFT FlatPanel 17" at 1280x1024, and couldn't possibly mistake the car name or even year. And it looks nice at flawless quality when it's not full-size :)

EDIT @ MasterStorm : Nope. :p
Oh, and thanks for pointing the Esprit out.

How about a club for those not using NOS? That is the true test of tuning for your car. Any interest in creating a forum for that?

A NO NOS Speed club - a novel idea...

Not really a novel idea, many of our members do just that, hence our No-Nitrous Record and the fights around it! I've done it myself, without actually changing any settings from my then-record holding Audi, so it's not actually that hard :) Feel free to try it out. Or you could use a Chaparral 2D 👍

Stay away!

Actually, on the subject of the Chaparral 2D, you keep mentioning this Ozmac/Toronado war over it. Seeing as I'm reasonably new here, I searched back through the thread to read up on it...

...this is when I discovered an error on the leader board!

Toronado's Chaparral 2D speed on the leaderboard is listed as 308.85mph, and the entry made on the 22nd of February this year. In my searching, I turned up the corresponding post (#1733 on Page 87), which actually shows the speed as 308.55mph. I looked through the next 20 pages of discussion but could not find any updated speed. Either the date on the entry is wrong, or more likely, a typo was made when entering the speed (or I am blind and missed it).

Only a small error yes. But when you consider how much EXTREME effort it took me to break the .85 speed as opposed to the .55, then you'll realize how huge this difference is. As you can imagine, I'm a little sad at having spent more time trying to beat it than was necessary. In other respects I'm happy as it makes my 2D record even stronger than I thought!

Just thought I would share my pain. :nervous:

great idea 👍
but i'm not that person for creating a forum lik that :)

Bugger!
That's rare enough, but to do it when a record was set (and that was the outright no-nitrous record at the time) is seriously bad on my part! Toronado, was there a PM update of that speed, or what? Was it just my screw-up? :nervous:

You cant get a car to go 400mph without cheats, it simply cant be done...BUT, if you can, it will not be considered "legal", meaning the wheelie trick..

George Morley
I don't know how to do the wheelie trick :(
****ing wankas'.....J/K I did it all the time in GT3, But due to the wheelie trick being used in GT4, it has become frowned apon...But none the less:
Set all suspension to soft/lowest
Set front downforce to min, max rear

With the sheer ammount of updating and data entry your doing, it's not surprising that the odd error occurs! And it's usually not a problem, as they all get shown up and corrected eventually. The fact that you do this completely off your own back means we should praise you, not condemn you! 👍

As I'm sure Toronado will agree, finding those extra few mph on a car like the Chaparral 2D can be incredibly tough. In a roundabout way it's kind of good, as I've learnt tons about suspension and gear tweaking in the process. 👍
