Also, I'm making an assumption that the T500 RS should work with PCs, hopefully with official drivers. Presumably it uses Immersion's FFB technology. It would be a real shame if it was PS3 only. Then it would be a tough sell.

It's a safe bet that it will be PC compatible since it's a HID(USB) device and usually if there's a compatibility issues with these kind of devices, it's usually with the PS3.

On a different note what strikes me the most about this wheel (on an already long list) is that fact that TM will release a different steering wheel in the future- perhaps something slightly larger for Rally and an F1 specific wheel. Even if TM were to scrap the idea, the way the T500RS is built suggests that it's a easy wheel to modify and you can easily fit a QR mechanism to aid wheel change. Being able to change to the proper wheel (diameter) will infinitely increase the sense of immersion.

I wonder, if the pedals are 'perfect pedal' good. i.e. hydraulic cylinder ( a mod that costs $250) that will make the price more justifiable? Since clear there must be people out there spending 300 (pounds) on a g27 and 170ish pounds on a perfect pedal = 470 pounds. And that just for that one pedal mod, if all three pedals are markedly more realistic, and the wheel is superior to the G27 in other ways too... it doesn't really seem so stupidly priced to me, as long as the quality is there.

Would a hydraulic cylinder be usable on a set of pedals that are not fixated to a surface? My Clubsport pedals are pretty heavy but they still slide around on carpet and flooring.

pedals weigh 7kg which has got to help, if in combination with a good grip too? Just speculating.

Are you sure that your clubsport pedals are sliding around? I have mine on the carpet and I have had no problems with it sliding around.

I hope this is a good wheel set. I think they are a little optimistic with the $600 price tag with the equipment it comes with.

I'm no sure if it is even better on paper. It is 1080 deg which is nice but the pedal design at least to me looks nowhere near as nice as the ClubSport pedals and the wheel is belt driven just like the Fanatec.

And looking again at their specs - this is $600 for a 2 pedal paddle shifter. The 3rd pedal is not a clutch, it is afoot rest.

Doesnt matter how good a setup their wheel is, at $600 to not even offer a clutch and shifter as part of the package is a deal killer right there.

How did you come to that conclusion?

The schpiel in the "News" description of the T500 ingame.

"The pedal layout consists of three pedals including a durable footrest".

This the wording they used.

I get the confusion but this is the durable footrest, see red arrow on the attached photo. :p

You said it yourself:
"The pedal layout consists of three pedals including a durable footrest".
3 pedals including a durable footrest means 3 pedals, throttle, brake and clutch and a durable footrest included. 3 + 1 = 4 (throttle, brake, clutch and a footrest which is the fourth item in the description).

Hhhmm.. ok, makes sense - although I thought was the base plate. But why the 3rd pedal and no shifter?

There is a shifter but it's sold seperately.

By changing the footrest position, a "floor-mounted" F1 style, or a "suspended" GT pedal configuration.

Where is the promotional material and prices?

And strictly speaking, if someone tells me "I have 3 pedals including a durable footrest" that means to me that the number of pedals is only 3 when you include the durable footrest in the count. :)

I can imagine using that for clutch kicking during drifting... :p
But seriously, no news on the shifter yet? :guilty:

It's still 12 days before the release. The information about the shifter will be released soon. It's a GT5 wheel. After all everything that bears the name GT (Gran Turismo) has the reputation of being released soon. :p

Soon is an understatement...
And beside, I still have to buy a 32' 3DTV, and a Playseat before I could actually afford to buy this. Oh well, once I get my G25 power adapter I guess (hopefully) I could start playing GT5 with a a wheel for once. :)

Heh

I am sure he would know if his pedals are sliding. :P

My clubsport pedals slide on carpet as well. We aren't talking cartoon banana peel here, but they do get away from me after a while.

 Yeah it's tough to notice while you're playing, I guess subconsciously I readjust myself to the moving pedals. When I'm done and I look down though it's quite apparent that they moved. Now my table legs block it so it's not an issue but when I had my table rotated I had to pull the pedals back once and awhile.

Plus I brake hard :)

7KG is heavy but I wonder if those extra 2KG will help enough? If this kit is going to sell well I hope it has provisions for hard mounting on every piece (wheel, pedals and in the future the shifter).

this wheel will be a failure , its too expensive for the console market.

Just because this is a GT5 wheel doesn't mean it will work with only GT5 or the PS3. If it is at least as good of a wheel as it's price suggest I don't see why PC simmers wouldn't pick this up as an in between solution from G27/GT3RS to Frex/ECCI.

If this is equivalent in terms of capability to the Fanatecs though, it will only sell to casual racers who don't do research.

Console market uses much more money to gaming than PC-market. I bought a 600e PS3, 360 and 2000e HDTV to play. Console market is just not anymore a 13 year old kids playing using their moms 15" CRTs.

I beg to differ. :D When it comes to simulation games, like flight simulator, race simulators there is much more money involved.

This is just an example but take a look at these sites

ECCI's best wheel and not compatible with console

32" 3DTV? What's the point of 3d on such a small TV unless you sit 3 ft away from it?
