ARL WANTS YOU!

Calling all drivers…. The ARL drivers’ school is currently and actively seeking instructors to join us on Thursday nights. There has been an expressed interest from our driver pool (and GTPlanet) in general, for us to really kick this program into high gear.

We need your help! If you feel as though your skill level in this driving simulator can help others out, we want you! Some basic criteria:

· An instructor can be from either division, Silver or Bronze.

· An instructor must be willing to devote up to one hour on Thursday evenings (9PM EST) to assist, help, develop and grow other drivers from within and outside of our ARL community.

· An instructor must have a headset/mic, in order to effectively communicate with the student.

· An instructor must be willing to teach one or all of the basics, intermediate and finer points of driving.

That’s about it! We are looking to give back to the driving community and ask that you help us in this endeavor.

How a typical Thursday night may play out:

· A BOD member will open a lobby titled ARL DRIVER SCHOOL.

· As drivers/instructors join the lobby, we encourage the instructor to “buddy up” with a new or newer driver.

· The pair should then break off into a private chat, so as not to be interrupted or distracted by general chatter.

· The instructor either follows, rides in car, or both, as the student drives around the track. This is the point where your instruction, expertise and experience will pay off for the student.

· A series of mini races will be held throughout the course of the evening/driving school period. An instructor may partake in the race or choose to ride “in car” with the student, spotting and coaching as the race progresses.

· A driver should spend at least 45 minutes with the student.

School will be in session this Thursday, the 21st, 8:30-10:30pm EST. I will have a lobby up for the wildcard.

We will work with whoever is interested. There will be a party chat that you can join. I ask that you enter it, whether you have a mic or not, so I can talk with you as you go around the track.

If you are interested, please state your intentions. I would like to do one-on-ones, but if there are more, that’s okay too.

**if you need a time later than 10:30 est, please let me know.

I'm totally down for this.

This sounds very interesting to bad anything game related on Thursdays are just next to impossible for me to do.

However I think it's so awesome how many people are signing up for the classes. This just really shows the level of everyone's dedication in ARL and their willingness to learn something new or to be a better driver no matter how talented they might already be.

Coming from someone who runs their own league this is very impressive & humbling at the same time.

Thank you for the kind words @Rinsky

I can stream it if it helps out at all.

Particularly when I'm having the intention to race on the wheel, but not at such championship-level due to confidence. However I won't be able to make it this week.

I'd love to have that too, racing on the DS4 gets boring after a while.

I will just throw this out there. I was a controller user in GT since the day GT1 was released all the way up to GTS.
I recently switched to a wheel setup less than a year ago ( March of 2019 ).
I have so much to learn now since making that switch but I wouldn't go back to a controller for anything.

So if you or anyone eles has recently gone to a wheel setup please just stick with it because it is so worth it in the long run.
