The 1 year anniversary of GT5's release is fast approaching, and as is evidenced on many of these threads many of us have a lot of miles into this game. I still jump on to it for the seasonals and time trials but have not been motivated to take on the longer endurance races (hence I'm kinda stuck at lvl 36). But my sister's boyfriend got me Shift 2 for my birthday, and while its not as good of a "sim" as GT5, its just overall a fun game. I made some good gamer friends playing online, and that was fun, but even that I just grew tired of (I guess theres only so many times some of us can go around the Nurburgring).

Sorry for the tangent but with the year anniversary approaching I feel like getting any "real" DLC (like new tracks or legit new cars not repaints) is getting more and more unlikely. Anyone feel the same, or maybe the opposite that maybe they have something big planned for the anniversary?

I don't think "real DLC" like track or car packs will ever be made available for GT5. But Kaz mentioning 'new features' in his tweets made me hopeful for some nice goodies. If in that case 'features' means something like endurance game saves, customizable grids in arcade races or some pre-made liveries for premium cars, I'll be more than happy.

But my highest priority stays that they get rid of the "AI giving up when you're on their tail" behavior. That on its own would already make offline racing a true pleasure again.

I dont care much about DLC, forza4 will be out soon, I'll jump on that when it's the case and until that I'll probably play NHL 2012.

I don't get why everybody wants DLC that you would more than likely have to pay for...I would rather have all the stuff implemented for free in the patches. Man I hate what the gaming community has become with it's internet on consoles. :P

PD never stops work on Gran Turismo. The amount of content they've developed from GT3 through GT5 is phenomenal. I'm sure we'll see truly awesome DLC in the coming years.

DLC's already happened.

It's been in since the beginning of the game.

Ever heard of the Stealth Models and Chrome Lines?

And the Edge Special was DLC as well.

So everyone who says 'Why no DLC evar' is wrong, because there's already been some. ;)

Although I am HUGELY disappointed at the lack of a Honda HSV-010 or Renault Megane RS '10 :(

i think that chervolet camaro 69 would be dlc? because it is in new wideo on gt5. 👍

Um, that's in the game smart one lol.

I'd love DLC, but, please, fix the God damn game first.

I haven't given up hope just yet... but I do think the DLC will be available in a form that nobody expects, maybe a full CD at full retail game price - GT5 Spec II.

I will be surprised but not shocked if GT6 does eventually arrive on the PS3.

It will just be nice to have some more tracks and cars to play with, no matter what form they arrive in or what version of the game.

How awesome would it be if PD managed to get cockpit views in the standards as a little treat? Or even just sorted out the CLK touring car with it's shady textures. We can but hope.

If anything, expect absolutely nothing, that way if anything does come our way we will be all surprised and happy.

EDIT: Isn't scheduled maintenance due today at 10am EST?
EDIT2 : Isn't that in one hour? (15:00 BST here)

what really grinds my gears is that in the prologue version there was an AI slider bar to adjust AI difficulty. how this was not implemented in gt5 is beyond me. this is an omission that not a lot of people seem to care about I however do care about it and it should be added

I'm glad PD aren't doing any sort of DLC until they've fixed the game. I'm sure once they've gotten GT5 to the point where the majority is happy with the game, they can concentrate their efforts on DLC.

At least it's not like TDU2 where there's been literally nothing happening for it despite having a DLC announcement months ago, which still hasn't happened.

I don't really see them doing a whole lot of new stuff. I think more tweaks to the game that will improve the interface, and maybe some new events added.

But speaking on new DLC, given the fact of how long it takes to model a track or new car I don't see that being to easy. If anything I see a "few" standards made premium and these are probably the standards that look better then others but I think highly unlikely, and some old tracks brought back.

I would like to see the premiums that were in GT5P finally brought over. And last night was the first time I had seen the X2010 racing at the the Redbull airstrip, judging by the screens it doesn't look like it has much of a landscape but the track looks killer. A airstrip at night and with lights.....what the hell PD. Why take the time to model that if it's not in the game?

The new features (like the driver suits) are cool, but hold my interest for about 5 minutes (and before anyone says its cause I'm a kid, I'm 31). Although endurance race saves wold absolutely get me to play the endurance races so that would be great. As well maybe a way to race mod some more cars and add cool liveries. Still I don't know that would hold my interest. The Seasonals are nice but I usually can burn through them in a hour or so even when I un-cheat them (I purposely use a worse car for more of a challenge).

The problem is the game just seems a bit short on single player content. I think they over estimated the Multiplayer aspect of the game. If they had a randomizer like Prologue that would help. But also it takes some SERIOUS time/work to gain anything game wise by playing multiplayer. You really don't get much XP at all, and cash wise you don't get much either so for people who want to buy cars or advance in the game, they are limited by the lacking single player game. So on the outset people assume DLC to be the same as DLC for any other game (most racing games offer additional tracks or cars etc) so that was the expectation. And Kaz did nothing to temper that rumor at all. And I personally would have no problem paying $5-$10 for a couple more good tracks and cars, I got MORE than my $99 worth out of this game with over 30k miles into it.

If you read my post I was asking for "real" DLC. A couple new paintjobs is not something that will add or keep anyones interest in the game.

I agree, I want the cars to fight me a bit more. Maybe not as bad as in Shift where they hit you, but gimme a little battle instead of opening up the passing zone for me!

Dirt 2 was like that as well. The promised DLC and all they ended up having was an unlock all cars and tracks pack.

I don't really see them doing a whole lot of new stuff. I think more tweaks to the game that will improve the interface, and maybe some new events added.

Yes I agree some of that stuff doesn't make sense, like they very obviously modeled the airstrip and yet you can't drive on it. The Siena kart track (yes I know the legal issues, but maybe they could have changed it?) as well. And what of that "Pikes Peak" Red Bull debacle for a few months ago?

I know its tough to build a track but it sounds like something is out there already, and obviously they already have a library of fantasy tracks (El Capitan, etc) that could just be converted and we would all probably be thrilled with.

But that said... the point of my post was that the game is almost a year old, and while it hasn't hit the bargain bin yet (Gamestop etc still has it for $59.99), I feel that interest is probably waning. Maybe to the point that they might have developed a DLC track only to just hold on to it for GT6.

I'm pretty happy with what the game has to offer. The only thing I really miss is the Online Mode from GT5 Prologue (Online Seasonal Events).

Fyi, with most games, the DLC that comes out within months is probably stuff that was originally included with the game, just taken out and offered as DLC to get more money.
Besides, it's a week into September and Kaz said September-October for new features.

People are so bipolar on this website. The highs and lows they have are so amazing. It was only about 3 weeks ago the Kazunori tweeted they were working on bug fixes, features, and then CONTENT. Then of course some got excited for DLC with 1.11, which we knew wouldn't have content. Then the lows and anger came because it wasn't there. Now this thread.

We don't know what, but KY stated content is coming. Just relax, play the game, play a different game if this one pisses you off, do something else, please.

Thing is though, the Stealth and Chrome Lines are actually pretty much all upgraded from the normal counterparts...particularly the F1, which is like a kinda F1 GTR, and the SLS, which is sort of a GT1 car in some ways.

And the XJ13 Chromeline, which is faster and crazier than its irl counterpart.

But the difference isn't that big. Just a biggish power increase - 30hp and a miniscule weight reduction of 23kg.

I see all these "it must be new cars and tracks this time"... I doubt that would be free. Since they don't complete the game with such a DLC.. They make it expanded.

What I hope for with a more realistic way of thinking is that they add new online modes and over all features. And when I say I'm more logical in my thinking I would like to point at the earlier DLC. They are adding the missing features wich should have been there in the first place. Be happy if they add new models to the old cars or new skins/textures.

I'm happy for whatever they fix or add on as long as it doesn't destroy something thats already there.
I would never had guessed that they would put rewards in the seasonals. But I liked it. I was bothered that all you got for finishing first in seasonal was an icon of a trophy and (to much) money. I also liked that they made it possible to buy new parts in the lobbys. Lets see what this one will bring...

And to all of you who demands new cars or tracks.. :odd:

I wasn't excited for DLC at any point with these new updates. In 2 months this game will be a year old. Now I don't expect DLC to be a week after like EA does it because they just make a ton of levels then cut some out to find a way to squeeze people for a few more bucks. But even "back in the day" when PC games had expansion packs that you had to actually go to the store and buy, they were usually out within 6 months. In today's era of people wanting everything now now now (look how many people were crying like little girls on this site because they couldn't hit level 40 in a week) if they want to actually sell and make money on this game DLC needs to be released sooner while people are still deep into it or you will have many players that have given up and moved on. Sony I'm sure realizes this and might say "ohh you have 5 new tracks? save them for GT6 so it comes with more tracks and we can 1 up Forza 4".

Thats the EA formula, I enjoyed Hot Pursuit but it drove me nuts that the DLC features were available within a month of the game's release.

As for what Kaz said, we have heard that song 100 times, and yes we got some stuff that added some value (seasonals) and some stuff that while cool, added nothing (driver suits and helmets). I admit I enjoy winning the prizes, but not enough that another driving game of sort won't take my attention away. Perfect example was during the PSN blackout, I played Dirt 2, a game that had collected dust on my shelf once GT5 showed up.

Thing is though, the Stealth and Chrome Lines are actually pretty much all upgraded from the normal counterparts...particularly the F1, which is like a kinda F1 GTR, and the SLS, which is sort of a GT1 car in some ways.

Big whoop, yeah they look cool but none of them had any mods that I couldn't do on my own. I hate to bring EA into this again, but they released DLC packs for Shift and Shift 2 that contained legit ALL new cars (the Legends pack for Shift 2 is awesome, some real classic tracks that had never been seen before and real classic race cars). Yes I don't expect them to be a week after like EA does it, nor do I expect 6 tracks that should have been included with the original game (like EA does it) but we need a little more substance than a couple mods and a paintjob.

I see all these "it must be new cars and tracks this time"... I doubt that would be free. Since they don't complete the game with such a DLC.. They make it expanded.

I too like the updates that make it easier to compete online, and I also enjoy the rewards (little more incentive to win!). Also I don't expect free stuff. I think everyone here can agree that they would be willing to pay a normal DLC sum ($5-$10 is what they charge for most games) for a couple good new tracks and cars.

I was once like this, thinking that the game was becoming dissapointing. That was about a month after the game released and I had earned my X2010. I spent ages hoping for DLC and new tracks.

However, at that time, I didn't play online. Just offline by myself. Then my friend got the game for christmas and I went off to play Black Ops and AC:Brotherhood while he earned cars. Then when we both had a largish amount of cars we were both satisified with, we played online together for a month or so. We didn't race. Just had fun. We drag raced. We drifted. We crashed but most importantly, we had fun. We didn't focus on earning as many credits as possible.

Then I did get completely bored of the game (there are only so many times you can drive an X2010 into a fiat 500 and see how high it flys) so I went off the game again to play other games. Then I did the best thing I have ever done... I joined a GTP race series. This is what GT5 is all about for me. The offline is neccesary to get the cars for the series you are in but then all the fun in the game comes from racing and hopefully winning. If any DLC comes out, it will just add to a great experience. People think PD have failed with GT5. These people obviously have just missed the button letting you go online.

Oh and maybe PD realise there are people like me and my friends who play the game to race each other and instead of making the games life span a few months by bringing out lots of DLC 2 months after release date, they are waiting long term to bring out DLC that is better than we are even epecting. You just have to be patient and wait for the chance to come.... much like racing

In real life, racing drivers don't race for the many and the errr experience points. They race to win. If yo play a racing game with the main intention of making money and driving new tracks, then yes, the game has a limited life span. But if you play the game online, racing against your friends for glory, then the game will never grow old. I mean it is the game I play most.... by alot. And I can't find a single noticeable flaw when I'm racing and having fun.

I don't really want to pay for anything DLC wise, but the whole "Standard to Premium" idea I would be glad to have happen.

Hopefully, any, if all future DLC won't create random bugs (which it probably would, lol).

If you read my OP, I have been racing online quite a bit. I enjoy it actually and I've made some good online friends playing this game. We work through different cars, we run them on the ring, etc. I still got tired of it. I don't know why I did, but I just did. I like different and new tracks, I like trying new cars but after a while I just find myself wanting more of it. I found myself entering some rooms and having fun, and others and just getting frustrated. I guess its just not a consistent experience. When all you do is online its hard to just sit down for an hour and get a good race of what YOU want. I open up a DTM room and noone shows up, a rally room and noone shows up. My friends love the Nurburgring but it just gets boring after a while. Or sometimes you join a room and its full of crashers and the like. I guess it doesn't help that I have an hour or 2 max to play the game on any day. I just want to maximize my play time, and currently its hard to do that.

Trust me I know all about being a racing driver, I own my own car and team and have run a bunch of races over the past few years, I've been to many driving schools, I have competition licenses, etc. Part of the excitement of that is that many times we go to new tracks, plus the visceral thrill of the fact you actually could die doing it helps.

I modded it to 654bhp just 10 mins ago and, ZOMG! It is 🤬 fast and I 🤬 love it more than I 🤬 used to!
