How you lot getting on with this?? 1200kg min weight and 295bhp max.. Got my evo super rally car out for it today and did a 1.45:817 that put me at 31st so far..

Hi.

I am hoping that by posting a tips, that other may follow. So, far, I was upto 3rd last night, but already down to 12th now. However, here is my setup:

Turbo: Level 1
Gear Ratio: Top speed 137

Suspension
Ride H: F-40/R -40
Spring Rate: F6.0 / R5.0
Dampers Ex:F 4 / R 8
Dampers Com: F8 / R8
Anti Roll: F4 / R6
Camber: F 1.5 / R 0.20
Toe: F -1.0 / R +0.20
Break F 5 / R5

I hope this helps. Hopefully, some of those in the top 10 could answer the following question. In the first sector, only Rastor is faster than me, you then have the left corner which sets you up for a quick right and left uphill. The left turn is very difficult as you can easily slide to the far right losing speed and time.

On average, I can only get through that right turn at about 58mph, no matter what I try I can't go through faster, everyone in the top 10 is taking this turn at about 65-70mph, which gives better exit speed. From here on, I'm just playing catch-up! In the final sector, I'm matching the speed. So, this one corner I'm losing about 4-5 tenths on a second, bummer!

Any advice as to how to master this corner?
Regards,

The last long sweeping turn is a riddle for me. I see all the top guys maintaining traction in favor of exit speed. But I remember when having a go at the liscence tests that drifting that corner was faster for me???

rhpamman - Thanks for posting your tune. I'll try it out later tonight.

I was wondering if someone was going to make a thread for this event. I'm doing pretty good (1:43.556 using Auto-Trans) if anyone needs some help.

I looked at the board and were neighbors...... lol, on that last sweeper I fly into it from the top of the hill and set the car to take the inside and once it bites I blast power for about a half of a second and then reset the car to complete the second part of the turn whare as I try to stop all leftward migration and lock in to go straight and push my foot through the floor board all the way home.......lol

The Rasta dude, I think is setting the car into a tracking slide and lags the car to his exit point and then just checks out. I am going to do an overlay w/ his and my ghost to see what he is actualy doing.

Thanks LeftyWrighty;

I had a little time to practice yesterday, I was improving a little and consistently clocked times at 1:43.7.. but never 1:43.6 something.

Unfortunately, I had your ghost in my mirror up until the last corner where I lost concentration and under-steered only to see you drive smoothly past me. Arrrghhhhhhhh.....

I'm sure you feel the same, that we know that in our laps there are a number of errors, if we can just put it all together then a 1:42.something is possible. I'm sure by the end of the competition, Zoky will find a way to clock a 1:41.something lap, f*&k he's fast.

Update on the set-up:
To try and get the car to turn into some of the difficult turns, I increased the toe settings to F-0.20/R+0.30

Not much time to practice today, but I will try Turbo 3; to see if that makes a difference in acceleration.

Also, has anyone played around with the gear ratios?
Regards,
rhp82amman

i did a 1:44.4 yesterday then messed my tune up and couldn't get it back..
it put me in 31st.. yet when chasing any top 10 ghost i was faster than them all the way up to the up hill right to left passed the sheep lol
il have a break and get back on it monday :)

Haven't had a chance to do a session today, but I did check the leaderboard.

Fair play to Rastor, 1:41.2 is incredible. So, it seems that he has played with the gear ratios and maintains excellent speed through the corners in gears 4, 5 and 6. Even so, it seems almost like a perfect lap, perhaps someone could just take the last right hander before the finishing line a little quicker, that's all!

So, to improve laptimes, get on it...................work on the gear ratios, if I hit lucky I will share ASAP.

It seems this rally stage is much less popular than the monza course - about 4 times as many people on monza - I think.

That's because their a bunch of "Fraidy Catz"

Don't want their weakness to show..... lol, anyone who can only drive on Asphalt is singularly dimensional.

+ i aint got the cash to tune a lambo up at the mo..lol
and rally is more funny fun with a wheel..

What are you guys doing for LSD and downforce?

I was running moderate LSD settings: 7/25/15 Then went down to just about the lowest setting and gained some time. I would lose time coming in to the corners but easily accel out much faster. And downforce...It stands to reason you want as minimal as you're comfortable with...Right???

I was using the same tune i used in time trial 8.. did my 1:44.4 with max downforce ride hight at -15 spring rates at 8.5 f and 8 r.
but im going to start over tomorrow with a fresh mind.

Hello, guess I could post my setup here if any of you would try it. At first I was trying with DS3 but I either lost practice or this game really doesn't favor ds3. Hoping to hit 1'40 and then I'll stop....(I'm no expert on setup btw.)👍

Bummer, after another hour of practice I only shaved off 3 tenths of a second, just as you nail a part that your normally piss up, you piss up another part instead, arrrrghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

Mr Zoky, how do you do it. Congrats mate, you must be the single most solid preforming GT5 driver on the Time Trials.

Out of interest, and not that I'm in any position to give you any advice, I noticed that when I was following your lap I realized that on the long sweeping bend in section 1, I turned in a little later by following a slightly more outside line and ended up hitting the apex much faster (75mph), I gained about 2 to 3 tenths on your at that point (but after that I eat your dust). Perhaps with that in mind, you could post a 1:40 something.

Good luck and thanks for not being selfish with your set-up.

Going to try your tune tomorrow zoky.. see how i get on!
thats a fast tranny setup, dose it help with traction??

I was doing this TT for a few hrs. last night.. I made it to 24th place overall, I remember the name LeftyWright was right behind me. It might have changed by now, I don't remember my exact time.

After an hour or so I couldn't improve my time- just chasing my own ghost lap after lap. Maybe later I can try again, that's definitely the best I ever did on a time trial, of course I don't usually do them at all.

It's pretty fun, but hard when you can't save setups and you forget exactly which one you were using on the best lap. Damn I wish we had a few setup save slots.

It's amazing how close my setup was to this. Not exact, but I was going the same direction with ride-height, spring-rate, dampers, brake balance, toe, torque distribution, etc.. Still, I can't imagine getting into the low 1:41s. I was just trying to get down to the mid 1:42s. I think my best so far is mid 43s. It's definitely a challenge.

Hi again.

I just thought I would share a new line I found for the last section of the course. At the end, you have a difficult, but fast, left turn. Turn in too late and you understeer out. Turn too early and you hit the invisible side barrier. By chance, the following happened.

Before this left turn there are too changes in elevation allowing you some air time.

On the second bump, I straightened the car up on the far right hand side of the road, so as to not in any way face the corner head on, then turned in max. I've now done this three times in a row, and found the perfect line through this corner at a ridiculous 106mph.

It really brought my laptime down, to 1:42.8............but f&@k, the server is down, lap not registered and can't access the leaderboard. This TT is just not going my way :-(

Thanks for posting. Will most definitley try this one out tonight.

Whoo hoo! Finally just got a faster lap time. I couldn't do better than 44:03 with Zoky's setup. After messing around and doing about 50 more laps I finally put all the corners togetter without touching invisible barriers, slowing the car down. Ended up with a 1:43.346. That put me in 25th, yesterday my 1:43:5xx was good for 24th. Now I'm second fastest in USA. Well, probably not for long, but it's fun putting a good lap together.

Now I'm going to have to try Zoky'z setup, too many are having good results using it, so not being one to miss out on a good thing I'm going to clone my Mitsu and have a dedicated Zoky special, that’s how I make a tuning file I store it in a clone. I will battle back and forth between my current setup that came from the previous Eiger rally (aka my Misterion special) to see if I can also stand on the podium for the ol red white n blue.

Oh by the way if you realy like this forum and want to show your pride as well as your membership, make a new PSN ID that has a "GTP_" in front of it. You don't have to be a member of the Registry to show that your part of our gang....lol I call it instant cred.

I used Zoky's diff settings, but that's all. I changed everything else except the things I had the same already like brakes. I think driving style had a lot to do with a setup working for you. His setup felt crazy tail happy to me, it was really fast when letting off the gas and turning though, but I couldn't ever catch up with the tail end under acceleration for some reason. I didn't spin out, but I wasn't hooked up with forward bite.

If i make a new GTP_ psn, will i still be able to play my gt5 account with it?

I don't think so, that's why I didn't do it. You'd have to start a whole new GT5 career is what it looks like. I only have one PSN account and one GT5 account.

I don’t know if you can properly call it “your GT5 account” the game is available from any PSN ID on that same consol, it’s just that a new PSN ID accessing the game for the first time will start the game from the beginning unfortunately.

You would have to do some small bit of grinding but if you just used it to run the Seasonal Events that have a World Leader Board and that is the only reason that you would create the "GTP_" account other then if you wanted to be fully indoctrinated and join the Registry, you could also use it to receive one car a day that is worth less then a Mil from your existing garage cloned from your current PSN ID to be used in the world TT competition to represent your forum using the "GTP_" badge or a destination for Cloning cars for alternate setups.

Finally down to 1:45.50! I'm running the tune the leader posted earlier with 5 points of downforce taken from the back. I just turned ABS off and had good results. Anybody else turn ABS off?

I almost always run ABS 0 in GT5, but not on the dirt in a time trial. I don't think I could come anywhere near my best time with ABS 0. It might be more fun and challenging in the rest of the game though.

Well I was just doing a few laps and a note came up that thisTT was over at 23:00.. (EDT)

I ended up lapping for about 2 hrs.. After a few setup changes I beat my time so I just kept lapping.

Previous best time was 1:43.7xx, earlier today that put me in 50th or so I think.

Pretty early on tonight I got a 1:43.223, that put me in 34th.

After a few more laps I did a 1:43.129, that got me 33rd...

Then out of nowhere I put a really nice lap together, I got a 1:42.426 which put me in 17th overall! Second fastest in US. Damn that was fun, and by far my best result from any TT in GT5. I put the most effort into this one too.

I wasn't even going to race tonight. I wasn't paying attention and had no idea the TT ended tonight. Glad I put in another session.. I'm dripping with sweat, need a shower, but this TT was a lot of fun!
