Morning folks,

Yeah...what to say about this one...Opel.... my opinion..

A: I I don't like the track to start with, almost every corner feels unnatural and its always grass easing shenanigans...

B: people who design tracks and think "wel.....let's just end it with a chicane" are dead to me 🤣

C: biggest problem.... the Opel, it feels like it has rear AND front tires 1m width... and has a very weird way of downforce wich....i dont understand at all? It sort of only yeets and sticks in T1 but uphill is just killing ..... the left hander after the grass shenanigan is such a mistery too, it just never works.

So I have no idea how to get it to work....
Don't know if it's a pad thing again but this one s*cks .....gold....ruuuuuuunnnnnn

You know the data logger feature that's coming could prove extremely helpful for time trials. If we can see each other's data, it would be much easier for us understand where we're gaining or losing time. I really want to see what my steering trace looks like compared to those of wheel users.

After watching Tidneys guide I stopped trail breaking and just rolled through every corner accelerating out of some unusually early. I guess that the rear wing extending under breaking might have something to do with this massive understeer when trail breaking.

I also hope for steering trace but as far as I know, it is not in the game, demo images of Spec III do not show them either, and Coach Dave's app do hot have it either... but lets stay positive and hope it comes.

The results for TT161 at Suzuka Circuit in the Gr.3 are over here and those for TT162 at Autodromo Nazionale Monza No Chicane in the Porsche 962 C '88 are over here. I have updated the opening post with the index of all TTs and the second post with the community scoreboards. A reminder that each driver's results for every TT is in the Excel file attached to the latest results post.

With the next finishing TT only a few days away (TT163 Autodrome Lago Maggiore - Full Course in the Honda NSX CONCEPT-GT '16), no interims today.

Urrrgh super annoying session in the Opel, cannot do better than an 8.4, i need another few tenths to bag this gold. I watched Tidge's lap and normally i watch his laps and go yeah, yeah i see where he is finding time, but i cannot FATHOM how he is so much faster than me, I feel like I am doing everything right but I am 2 bloody seconds slower than him somehow.

This is a very bad track for the pad as it accentuates the "lock-lag" every time there's a change of direction. Then there's the need for a quick response to make T1, the right hander at the top of the hill and the subsequent uphill left hander, which is all about luck in terms of track limits, which IMO adds to the effect. The Red Bull challenge on this circuit is one of the few I didn't get gold on. I suspect this will be another.

The car is ****. It's such a shame Gran Turismo has ended up in this place, I assume because there are financial arrangements in the background, where we're "driving" fictional cars that most people will have zero interest in. It's some sort of sci-fi nonsense which is totally at odds with the petrol head ethos of the original games. Yes, yes, the world is changing, blah blah, but it's a game where we should be enjoying proper cars with proper engines. All this VGT stuff is ****. It just reminds me of playing Wipeout, but without the banging soundtrack.

The inane boost thing making it a one lap repetition is just annoying as you can't just get into that rhythm/flow of lapping is just the dog egg topping, on a multilayered **** cake.

I have a strange problem with the Opel: I tried to follow Tidgneys advice to preserve the booster until entering the back straight, but I can't. Somehow it gets triggered when I'm on the curbs either in the left hander on the hill or in the final left hander out of the esses, without me touching the button. Weird. I even tried to switch off controller vibration, in case the button ist too sensitive, but it still happens. Has anyone experienced this, too?

What button do you have to boost set to?

Yo yo racers

My limited gaming time continues, or rather my GT time but at least the last couple of TTs have been enjoyable

Would have liked more time on the Porsche, although the curbs made it into a surfboard, so probably for the best, I didn't persevere.

And still we have an array of TTs to go at. The NSX at Maggiore is causing me some headaches. On the controller, I can't get the rotation down like the wheel guys and keep messing up the last few corners every time I'm on a gold time lap. Not tried the grey suppository at the Nurb or much of the Stratos at the Eiger, but did, mainly out of curiosity, try the Opel battery bomb out.

Now I like this track, it feels more raw and interesting than some of the other US tracks, but what on earth is this one lap boost rubbish? I'm in silver, but the amount of times I do 3-4 laps, feel like I'm getting it, use the boost, screw it up and have to restart is both annoying and ludicrously stupid. At least have a means to recharge the damn battery, and it also does not appear to grip on controller as it does on a wheel. I cannot follow Tidgney's lines through half the corners, and I brake hard, turn and power away (as he suggests), and I just understeer.

Still love the game but jeez these VGTs (in the main) are getting real tiresome at this point.

Don't know if you also watched Tidge's YT guide but he goes over the key 'trick' - basically don't trail brake, get off the brake fully just before turn in and the car rotates better. The rear wing drops and reduces understeer. I don't mind the car either, pretty good for a VGT!

You gotta love it when the leaderboard crusher out of nowhere hides their replay. I at least hope that this is the end of it and there won't be many more surprises.

Took me another 300 km to get back into gold. I feel much more confident now however. I know that I am at least theoretically able to follow the top ghost relatively closely I just need a miracle lap to both not invalidate (still hate you T3) and string it all together.

This is one of those cars where small errors lead to tons of time lost. Annoying. Unless you are super consistent. But if you're super consistent then you are usually also really fast and get gold anyways.

Didn't get time to give this another go as I spent all of Wednesday night waiting for the new update to copy.
Probably a good thing I didn't dedicate even more time to this. Trying to wrangle this thing around 2 chicanes and 2 lesmo's was seriously painful. Probably one of my least consistent combos in terms of putting down lap times.

Last night I was onto Gr2 at Maggiore, and I think this combo might be a sign to give up with the race cars. I simply cannot keep up with the speed things happen in downforce cars, and it ends up with me spending far too much time doing laps that aren't improvements on my best time.

Currently sitting at a 1:40.689 which is 1.8% off the top time and sitting in 1192nd. Haven't moved brake bias, leaving it at 0 feels pretty good for me, might have to try moving it around though.

I find the VGT one oddly enjoyable. It was annoying at first until I sorta figured out the strategy of doing laps but not using the boost until I rounded that right hander before the long straight ahead of my ghost. Having said that, I'm not in gold yet so the enjoyment may be short-lived lol.

This one was pretty quick and painless though...
