I'm a big fan of Laguna and am real familiar with the track and yet I wouldn't say there's a single corner on the whole course that I actually feel in any way comfortable with. Also, the car is super annoying! All of a sudden the traction is just completely gone and the back end is beside you. Anyway, a decent first session I guess...

Putting racing tyres on a road car is a strange choice because they can only handle soo much g-loading before the suspension gives up. Making things worse was a sore left shoulder, so I was missing apexes and completely overshooting corners far too frequently. What I intended to do vs what I actually could do didn't always line up, which increased the amount of errors I made. I know that there's more in the kitty... just how much more is anyone's guess at this point.

Morning folks,

As expected i did my first TV session with the tire-shredder..
It was a little bit better but still don't like it as i hoped i would.

I think the biggest problem for me here is the lack of feeling throttle-wise, there is almost no feeling on the haptic throttle R2.
so a very thin line when it starts to slide..... sort of between 0 rpm and 1 rpm 😂😂

Whole lap was driving on ice, cramped up every corner....
this one is exhausting

Shellby on Laguna Seca is at the edge of not being drivable on controller with motion control -gyro. The only one who had more narrow steering angle was go-kart TT we had recently. I can only tilt controller 25 degrees to one or another side and there I reach full lock. @P-Courty and I measured it before and he could reach 50 degrees until full lock on ds4 while I think I could reach slightly more on dS5.
So I am fighting the wheel like crazy, it's on that level that it's almost not fun anymore. I need to correct and I have like only 5 degrees to find right angle/input, which is very difficult in a fraction of a second.
PD if you are reading this, I know it's possible to adjust angle on wheel. Remember people on Daytona lowering it. How about giving that option for gyro too, pretty please, a wish from your biggest gyro fan 🙂
Btw, you who are on wheel, how many degrees you rotate until you reach full lock? Talking Shellby here now.
( I aligned phone to DualSense and running level app on phone, showing 25 degrees only, full lock on TV on Shellby in the background)

Yep, sums up my experience as well. It's hard to gain consistency here because it's basically game over when your steering angle is 2° more than it should be. So far only managed a low 1:28 in my first session. Mid 27 is definitely possible, perhaps even a bit more, but top 100 seems very elusive at the moment.

Did not expect this one to be so hard, but numbers don't lie:

Thanks as always to @Tidgney and his tutorials but this week my skills are not as sharp as the track/car demands

1:29.1 (optimal 1:28:7) even that it’s not gold. 1.000.000 this week.

I did it for an hour almost consistent 1:29 high always.
Gave it another try

Optimal 1:28:661 one tenth of the gold.

Tomorrow will try again.

At least I know my skills are getting very good by my standards, this car/track with no asists (the hardest TT according to the forum) and being consistent 1:29.xxx makes me proud of my self. This was unreachable 1 month ago.

About the Delorean one commented in previous posts I golded in 12 minutes effortlessly.

3.5% of 57.000 players is indeed not that much 😟 😟
So this turns out to be fairly difficult, i think after my session this morning that i can get into the 26's and that's probl. nescessairy for a top 100 😒😟 but i don't know if i can bring it up to hammer this a whole week...
It kind of frustrates me more then it is fun, like you said, 2 degrees of and you are gone, it's the same on the pad.

If you have to lap track in a muscle car you buy a Corvette, if you wanna do doughnuts by this boat
😂😂

It is unfortunate that PD keeps putting on grippier tires than necessary on cars both in TT and Daily Races. The GT50R '16 uses SH tires stock, there's no need to put on racing slicks on such a car.
To be fair this is a track capable car and folks will run slicks on it, or grooved slicks. I think people are forgetting how potent this thing is, there's a lot of power.

I did suspected this when i had my first session this morning, when it's sooo freaking delicate on the Duelsense already it must be hell for you, and when you think of it it's kind off disturbing that you can't change these things on gyro,
so this is going to be gold and run for you? 😭😭

I would usually agree but it's the same car in the S4 license and I believe it's on sports tyres there and it had no grip whatsoever last time I tried that one

True, unfortunately 😐 I am at 27.7 and feel safe for gold but chasing milliseconds now is super difficult so I guess I will go grind some circuit experience, Colorado ,dirt track, or something similar 😂

Just imagine having this TT with the default SH tires... basically apart from the usual cadre of gold achievers here on GTPlanet and some outsiders there would be no one getting even a silver and the number of bronze achievers would be super low. As a player typically having some trouble achieving bronze I understand the you guys, the ones who can actually perform properly, want the challenge and want that your gold should mean something and lucky bastards like me should work for their medals - but I'm selfish, want a better medal for myself :) Plus I agree with @NevilleNobody, if someone runs a GT350R on track, they have proper sticky tires on it, hell, people put on sticky tires on power monsters like a MX-5 :)

You kind of have to just dispel reality and embrace the challenge, the parameters aren’t supposed to be realistic.

I made a post about the oval that I instantly regretted because the fun is in the doing and the trying with what they give us, not ideal world stuff.

Challenge in this game means endless frustration unfortunately (again, serious lack of skills here) - in this case it means that I did "a few" laps trying to get a better time. The result you ask? A single lap that was under 1:30, maybe 5 valid laps, everything else just .... So yeah, I embrace the challenge but the challenge can go and eff itself :)

EDIT: driving a GT350R on slicks at Laguna Seca is anything but the ideal world for me. MX-5, GR86, Cayman, E82, F22/F87, 02, E21/E30, maybe E36 (grew up on 90s touring cars, have a bit of BMW bias) on slicks, yes, absolutely. I prefer the Mustang over the Camaro or Challenger but it's not ideal :)

I don’t enjoy these challenges sometimes (most of the time, but even if I don’t do well I get more driving time and I care more about the mechanics of driving etc.

I wasn’t criticising you or anything so very much apologise if you read it that way or I wasn’t clear in my context

All good here, no worries. One of my in-game activities is to go out and trying to do some laps around Watkins Glen (full) with stock road cars. I put Sport Softs on them, per se simulating a sticky, barely street-legal tire. I know the RS would net better times but I imagine it as a track day, so I get the point of road car vs racing tires. Nevertheless, in this case I rather have the RH to eliminate some of the struggles I have anyway :)

I could've gone deeper onto the 27's if the tyres weren't soo inconsistent... This time trial really highlights the biggest flaw with the tyre model: the grip curve. Overstep the mark even slightly and you will pay the price immediately. The unnatural behaviour of the car and the thin margin of error takes away from my ability to drive.

Great time!

Is it really unrealistic or could it just be that there are cars/tunes/tires with this behaviour in real life too?

Morning!

Cat woke me up at 5:38 this morning ....yeeey 🙈 ....screeming the langs out for me to wake up to play fetch with his furry shrimp toy 🙄...cute....but to early dude...

Opening you eyes and hop in the 350 = bad idea 🤣 for miles I ran 27.5's and 6's but with some coffey the times started to slowly getting down to eventually a 27.007 but invalidated this after that...

1000032567.jpg

Time to pull though if you see these 🤣
A lot a scruffy crampy (invalidated) laps later I finally had a descent non red lap... 🤣

Into the 26's with the shred-machine...
Man this is a workout even on the pad ... respect for you fast wheel guys out here 🙏

Not to Shabbbyyyyy at all for today!

Now for those who had not gold the Nurburgring circuit experience....how many of you will try to get that 5mil credit? :D
I don’t see it that far being my first attempt and being cautious to complete the lap. And I’m a C/B driver

Could anybody help where do you think yo can scratch the most gap. I believe it’s after the corkscrew…

I believe this depends on driver, for me it was before cork screw. I guess easy way to find out is to compare to one of the fastest ghosts and see where ghost is pulling away the most.
Ok I found it. Turns 3 and 4 are in fourth gear not third gear according to Kie25

I’ve realized when I try to maintain the momentum on high gears I’m becoming faster. I need to find one second.

I've been kept busy recently with work, school and IRL car stuff (pics attached for those keen, yes I'm k-swapping and old Silvia), but its high time to step back into the ring of TT shenanigans with the fastest forum on the planet! I have a sort of special connection with Laguna, since I went and watched an IMSA race weekend there in ~2015 as a kid, the era of the DeltaWing and other fun things (also pics attached). Coming from Australia, it was my first experience of a big money race week, and boy was it fun.

Gran Turismo™ 7_20250503203006.jpg
There's so much time left, especially through the corkscrew. Probably a 27.8 if i hadn't forgotten how to drive!

And a cheeky look at the engine bay of the Silvia as it stands right now ;)
