Thanks! I really like Dragon Trail Seaside so it was very enjoyable for me. I see you are struggling with the chicane and the last turn. For the chicane it's all about aligning the car correctly, can't be too much to the right or left. It's tricky but with enough practice you'll get the hang of it. And as for the last turn, you'll want to be approaching from the left side of the road, brake at the 150m board, and bring the car in on the inside of the turn and then just stay on the left side of the road as you approach the finish line. Hope I helped!
I do like the track too to be honest, altho a bit more planted car would have been nice 😂
Are you going to second gear while trailbraking for the last corner or do you stay in 3th? 😁

Quite a challenging TT this last one. Cod itself separates the babies from the adults, the cowards from the baves, the barrier brakers from the drivers, plus this fat ladycar dancing the polka and ejection kerbs do the rest of the job...

I think I can do better than these, but I don't think I can match the cheat one with the non cheat one, and at the moment I don't have that much of attraction in trying to go into gold territory with the cheat one.

After getting an umremarkable bronze time with the C5 I managed to have a wheel session Friday evening. After a few laps I managed to get into silver:

Also, this was the first time I used CSA (alongside TC=2). My optimal is now 1:52.557 but I hope that this would be enough. I don't see a chance for gold but I'd be very happy with the silver. My NSX silver time doesn't seem to be in danger, hope it stays so :)

PS: I was at a local Cars & Coffee, there were at least 4 or 5 C5 Z06s there, plus a NC NSX, quite fitting for the current TTs :)

Im having a hard time at Dragon Trail.
Im watching the replays of the top timers but I cant understand how they attack the kerbs almost flatout without unsettling the cars balance.
When I try those lines, I almost always end spinning or with a penalty (and sometimes both )

Is there any trick with the aids that Im missing?
My gold wont last much longer there (1:50.843 with no better optimal wich is at 2.83% right now)

Alright, I think I noticed a couple things with Dragon Trail. Sharing as this may help. First, and it’s sort of counterintuitive, but the COD is way more difficult to do if you’re carrying less speed than you should. If you can carry enough speed (try to match ghost 1:1) though entry into the first bit of the chicane, the car will naturally want to straighten and even pull to the left slightly towards the next corner of the chicane, and it’ll set you up for a straight line though to the end. That’s one of the keys to a good entry into the final bit and exit from the chicane. Try to look at the inside corner of the chicane exit when it gets into view as you turn in. I know, my amazing advice is to look where you want to drive and then dive there 😛but it helped me.

Also, in this car/tire combo, if you’re using a FFB wheel you can feel there’s a small amount of curbing on the straight part of the chicane near the right-hand wall. Feeling it will give you a warning that you’re about as near to the wall as you can be, so you can straighten up. There’s also a track marshall in the straight part of the chicane which can be used as marker that I didn’t notice before (thanks @Mistah_MCA for the awesome guide that pointed that out!!)

So feel the outside, visualize turning to the inside😉

Hardest part for me isn’t the CoD, it’s the last two turns in sector one. Flying into that curb, and getting straight enough so I don’t loose it when braking and turning to the right….that’s my devil at the moment.

I managed gold, not sure how long it’ll last. 😃 Will give it another effort tonight.

@Childe Roland, try on ABS weak if you aren’t already. I feel this car/combo is better suited towards it.

I honestly don't get to find my way in the Dragon Trail track with the Vette. I like the car. A lot. But I hate the curb riding festival that Dragon Trail is, and let alone the nightmare that is the chicane of death....

I had a session at it and managed only to hit the 4% mark and decided to skip this one. I also remember the amount of time I put on with the Vette C4 last time around this track, and nowadays I just don't have either the time or the drive to repeat that effort.

In addition to this there's the fact that I got my weakest gold time ever with the Mustang at Laguna Seca, by 0.013 seconds, I guess I'm just not that motivated to go hot lapping right now.

Cowabunga! After searching, the C4 TT at Dragon Trail was indeed my most recent top 100. I'm looking to repeat it in the C5. This time won't hold obviously, so I'll give it a few more goes before the TT ends next week. Hopefully, I can grab hold of another top finish. :dopey: There is room for improvement, most notably the exit of the hairpin before the start of the 2nd sector where I overcorrected and nearly took myself off course. I also had a kinda slow exit out of the tight right hander after the long straight and was a little hesitant through the COD.

Morning bunch of fellow addicts,

I went i this morning with Cosmic knowledge to rotate in 2nd for the final turn, thanks for the tip @CosmicMinster.
So i went scraping the CoD for many laps, then had one very promising invalidated lap...

that's 1:11.356 before the CoD 😟😭😭😭 but hit the wall on entry on the right,

196ec47783015-screenshotUrl.jpg

Then lost my focus a bit for many laps but times started to come down a bit again.
Mostly i restart if my S1 is higher than a .6xx because i had a lot of .5xx's this session...funny i didn't restart this lap for some reason.

S1 : .651 on this lap but i had a cracking midsection, the C5 realy floated and could take a lot of speed with by grabbing some of the red runoff on the right ( at around 48 seconds ) that realy helped in exit speed altough i slided a bit to much for my liking.

Then i did stay in 4th before the tight right hander, feels more natural, you do hit the limiter though but i find it easier to brake in 4th and have one downshift less there to trailbrake in ( very important ) and then throttle play your way out to keep it grippy ..
still a descent .476 split before the CoD which i kind of naild for once... 😂

Did go to 5th out of the tunnel where i mostly stay in 4th and did brake a little later, compared with indeed 2nd to rotate realy helped squaring it off and getting on throttle a bit more early..

Finally into the 48's!

There is still more than a tenth left for me but stars have to align

Happy with this, not to shaby at all!

Did my @Metalgear9493 's butt chasing replay because the norrmal saved reply stops before the line ??!!

Put some pretty considerable time into the NSX at Autopolis, around 300km or so over multiple nights.

This wasn't the easiest trial, the way the hybrid system deploys in the NSX is quite tricky to get used to, particularly in the low speed corners. If you get on the power too soon, it would start to crab walk off to the outside of the corner and the car doesn't react well to counter steer in those situations. Counter steering seems to have a weird effect on the hybrid deployment as well.

Was able to break into the 56.9s quite quickly, but finding the next 3 tenths was a challenge. 2 nights ago, I spent 100km without any improvement which was incredibly frustrating, considering I had the optimum down to 56.7XX, I just couldn't string the lap together.

Last night I was finally able to improve after another 100km, first into the 56.8s and then taking off a whole 2 tenths to find a 1:56.604 to place me 62nd at the time. There is still at least a tenth in that lap if I was able to perfect everything, but definitely no more than that.

Next will be on to the Corvette at Dragon Trail, which looks to be pretty interesting combo.

I managed a .613 myself and slotted in just behind you at 63rd but took a short break and went again for a slight improvement. :sly:Had a bit of a moment in this lap where I set a wheel on the grass but fortunately the slide that followed worked out pretty cool for the coming corner.

Anyway, while this NSX is a great car I hope we can avoid returning to already used cars going forward and keep going with completely new and never used cars, of which there are more than plenty.

I would like to angry react your first sentence specifically.:grumpy:

Phenomenal lap, can't believe you pulled off the slide as well  I only wish I could match your steering smoothness, quite a sight to behold, particularly on a controller!
Cool to see a few GTPers within a few hundredths of each other :gtpflag:

Got some time to give these 2 a go.

First up, Corvette at SeaSide. I remember the previous Corvette C4 TT here pretty well so I managed to take some things away from that one. After watching Tidgney's guide I started following his ghost. (offset 0.1s)
S1 I can just about keep up, losing +/- .2-3s on the exit of the chicane.
S2 I surprised myself by eventually even going faster and gaining +/- 0.1s
S3 is my nemesis. Chicane of death alright... Either to careful or invalidating my lap.
Got to a 1.50.388 with MAYBE a 1.49 on the table. Good for (at the moment) a global top 1600 place, what would be my PB.

Second, the NSX at Autopolis. Not really my preferred combo. The NSX just doesn't agree with me it seems.
Got into gold eventually with a 1.58.757 (rank 7291 as we speak) and it seems safe for gold so I'll let this one go and give some more focus on the Corvette and secure a new PB!

Slight improvement by 5 hundreths or so...

So agonisingly close to the top 100 now, my optimal (1.49.dead) is enough for 54th.....plenty of time left to try and hook it up... Although I think the chicane of death optimal is the best I have ever done it in any car ever. Still struggling most for overall consistency on the final corner though, probably down to slightly varying approach speed.

Lots of red laps because I'm at the point now of "go hard or go home" so it's to be expected!

Edit one hour later:

Now I can relax a bit but still want to get into the lower 49.0s! @330_D youre up!
