Sorry guys, been gone for a while. Sick, then procedure went badly wrong, then second procedure seems to have worked. Finally got all the tubes out and the leaks seem to be fixed. I don't know how much time I'll have to play, what. with being way far behind around the house. I did have a couple of hours when it was raining, so...

Everything here seems to be normal, everyone keeps getting faster, keep up the good work.

I've yet to set myself a goal for a TT to be as high up the global leaderboard as I can, but I'm compelled to try just that for this Grand Valley TT. I love the combo, the flow of the layout, and I'm probably extra motivated cause of how much I love Hwy 1 IRL.

So far my best TT outing is the Lake Louise snow TT in the Corolla, ranking 153rd globally. But I always found that result anomalous; it was such a big jump from my previous best global ranking, coupled with that TT being my first time driving in the snow in the game, it had to have been a fluke.

I'm not certain I can do it, but it would be awesome to crack the Top100 globally for the first time with this GV TT. To have this be my best result for the foreseeable future, and at Hwy 1 at that would be 🍒.

FWIW, I found it disobedient when trailbraking. When I stopped trailing the brakes, it swiftly turned to a good lil' doggie.

Trailbraking in general isn't my forte (nothing is really when it comes to driving fast), so not sure if I've ever done it. I did learn though to strictly break in a straight line.
The Swift has too little power to be on sport mediums here, they’re too grippy and such a weak car has no need for these grippy tyres. What that grip also does is make the car jump and bounce around in a really awkward and unpredictable way because the chassis doesn’t seem to be built for this kind of grip. Set up a lobby, throw BoP on and go around in for example comfort mediums and compare for yourself. You’ll of course be slower going around a lap but it feels way more planted and natural and no longer a chore to drive.

Anyway, just started this. Will report back tonight but not looking great. Hot and humid as hell, stupid flies flying around the living room in my way breaking concentration and yeah, sweating way too much. Gotta go and get a fan.
Given the BOP seems to be the car's standard parameters themselves, it should be fairly easy to recreate the scenario in the regular TT setting, will definitely try that later. I'm also not sure how much the G29 itself contributes to my problems. On one side, you have a subpar driver (yours truly), on the other you have a subpar wheel. Sure, proper talented drivers would have zero real issues with the G29 but it most definitely doesn't help me LOL I was tempted by the Moza R3 bundle and that 100 buck converter but as lucky as I am, it wouldn't work for me. I can see that the 5Nm Fanatec bundle is now back to a somewhat acceptable price, I will try to convince my wife to spend some money on it. I believe that the DD wheel would help to be more precise, especially if I could grab the load cell brakes. I followed @Tidgney's ghost, then a guy's named Charlie.Firpo (fellow Hungarian, with that name one must be :) ) and I was left with my chin falling to the floor at the first left in Hatzenbach. If I tried to turn in where they did (and most of you do), I'd just go straight and/or spin like an idiot. Again, it's a combination of both talent (mostly) and equipment, so I try to fix it where I can - I just recently transitioned to a cockpit from a wheel stand and transitioned from barely reaching bronze to getting close to gold, just because the rig is stable. I don't expect a DD wheel would mean automatic gold but feel that it would give me more feedback to better understand what's happening with the car.

Thanks for the tips guys, really appreciate it!!

Some of the qualified driving coaches or faster guys can comment better on this.

But trail braking is a very good way to trade braking for turning.

Brake in a straight line (the majority of your braking) then start trading the braking for turning, the more you are off the brakes the more you can turn. Mostly it’s a coordination technique and it’s better because you carry a fraction more apex speed and minimise coasting but not every corner or car plays to that strength.

The little swift does, the rally car is much more point and coast/squirt.

The merc at Monza is more drag the brake and go. They are all different. What you want is solid smooth exits, how you get that is trial and error for you (us).

Cadence braking earlier and better is worth more than trail braking most of the time for me

I had two pretty good laps, very much well enough for a 19 but it didn’t materialise (easy to talk, less so to perform). Hardly ever does at Nordschleife though...

Someone has to be first one just outside 19 and it just so happened to be me this time around. :ouch::lol:

I see we’ve got a nice little trio in the 18’s... very impressive djolilea, Dantes and blip. Respect!

I am very happy to have reached the gold (hoping no crazy time from aliens in the last minute) and also thinking that I have approached the trial at the end of the event.
Room for improvement for sure but no more time available.
That will surely hold for gold.
Otherwise #1 would need a 8:14.38 -> 2,5s faster than the current #1

Oooooh this could be good... Curious for the tire choice.

I wanted to say..... imma gonna get @crome at Grand Valley.........
Great time buddy! good to see you casually throw in a 10'' 😟😟😂

But i know i'm going to hammer this one 😂 😂
Haha, wasn't really all that casual tbh. It's gotten so late yesterday that I didn't even post about it anymore. ;)

That being said, if you do get me, naturally I will fight back :D

Here's the lap btw, quite happy with it.

The GTO is an interesting car, my early tips would be to honestly brake early, “in my best Tidgney voice: let the car roll through the corner, and be patient on the throttle and be smooth on it”

It’s fun and challenging, I’m not sure I have the right wheel weight set up and will probably need to add more torque to smooth some of my exit unwinding vs throttle.

The results for TT148 at Nürburgring Nordschleife in the Suzuki Swift Sport '17 are over here. I have updated the opening post with the index of all TTs and the second post with the community scoreboards. A reminder that each driver's results for every TT is in the Excel file attached to the latest results post.

Here are some interim statistics for TT149 at Grand Valley - South in the Lancia Delta HF Integrale Rally Car '92.

I did my traditional first lap routine at Interlagos - immediately drove right off the track at the first corner. This I suspect will be kind of a challenging one to gold. Slippery car with illusory brakes. lol...
This is what the brakes are on the GTO

🤣

Had a few more laps, ignore the mileage as I was doing dailies till 2am

Good Afternoon fellas!

Last night turned into a bit of an epic.. I had kept my evening free to go round in large circles in that little Suzuki Swift but moronically got stuck playing a game I really don’t like (rocket league) for nearly two hours instead. Idiot! By the time I got round to GT7 I was tired and grouchy. I completely forgot how to do sector one which was causing no end of frustration and despite cracking the 8:18s I was agonisingly close behind top forum placed @djolliea. I knew there was loads of time to be made.

Anyways, three hours later and some incredibly frustrating laps I finally did it, I was three tenths up on my PB going into the final sector and despite a terrible T13 got the job done!

I have been meaning to buy premium membership for GTP for some time now and stupidly the main reason for not doing so is that I couldn’t think of a good custom title.. Given that I came top of @half_sourly ‘s meticulously created GTP leaderboard and was the fastest driver from the UK at the ‘Ring I think today is the day :gtpflag:

Nice lap, meister.

Glad it didn't take you 10 minutes... 3 hours... fair enough.

A little more chipped away at GV, had a really poor session and must have invalidated half my laps trying to find that little bit extra. I find the Lancia great to drive but can catch me out with power understeer and significant turbo lag if I hold off the power a split second too long (on the final turn in particular where I've often been very close to the top ghost but lose a ton of time on exit for fear of hitting the wall)

Optimal looks healthy though

Decided to try the GTO early... Well, gold is out of question, silver maybe. First valid lap: 1:48.093, at least bronze is secure. Second and current valid lap: 1:46.269. Silver is a good 1.3 seconds away, plus some extra margin to account for the aliens, not gonna be easy. Before I managed the first valid lap, I needed 20-30 tries just to get around the circuit. Sometime I didn't even reach the start of the timing line and spinned the car already :lol::lol::lol: My goal is to get silver or at least get very close before watching videos, just use the various tips I can remember from other TTs.

A bit off-topic: just the other day we witnessed the latest of the Ferrari supercars, the F80 to be included in a game, so having a TT with the first modern one is quite fitting. I know, de gustibus non est disputandum, but man, the F80 is the very definition of fugly. The 288 GTO, the F40, the F50 and the Enzo would be my choices in a imaginary garage (not like I could afford any Ferrari...) The only thing positive about the F80 is the name, I don't think that Ferrari Enzo Ferrari or Ferrari LaFerrari were particularly good choices.
