I improved my time again, last corner has more than once ruined a better time but it’s tough to put it all together especially with that fast chicane so I’m pleased with it.

How many people have currently posted a time in the NSX at Maggiore? I just dropped another 4 tenths or something and I'm sitting at 4.50% at about 20,000th on the leaderboard. Meanwhile my 4.10% in the Vette has me in the top 5K on the board (which is sort of my standard landing place really).

EDIT - hmmm...a google search tells me currently only about 132K people have posted times at Maggiore. Sheesh...I suck. lol.

Guess who's back, guys?? 😆

Hope y'all doing good around here, after a few months I finally felt the urge to return to GT7 and do some more Time Trialing.
But, first of all I have to get something off of my chest: I'm back but things will be slightly different for me this time around.

One of the main reasons why I decided to take a break from this, back in February, was because doing TT is a very nice challenge and a great way to improve your driving skills, but it also is a huge time-waster and can become quite exhausting too... and unfortunately it was, slowly but surely, starting to take over more and more of my free time and taking its toll on me, and I don't want that.

A big part of me just wanted to do as many TT as possible just for the credits, and of course, the faster you go and the more time you put into it, the better you get and higher medals (with better payouts) suddenly start to become more frequent... at the expense of your free time and well-being, which is never a good trade.

So, to prevent myself from falling into the same sinkhole again, this time I've set a few ground rules: first, I will only take part in Time Trials that I REALLY want to do, which more often than not translates into Time Trials with mid-to-low end road cars in small-medium size tracks.

Those are the kind of combos that I really enjoy the most, so that means I'll keep my distance from events with race cars and/or very lengthy tracks, which I don't like as much and usually they're much more demanding.
Of course, there might be some rare, occasional exceptions, like the ongoing Honda e-sports Time Trial where there's a chance to win a free car just for completing a lap around the track... which is what I did, after 3 laps I've secured myself a safe Bronze and that's it, works for me.

So, with that out of the way, it's time for my Time Trial comeback, and I couldn't think of a better way to do it than this:
Gran Turismo™ 7_20250906185648.webp

I'm guessing this one is a very easy one... so easy that a clumsy driver like myself who's been away from the game for over 6 months can gold this in 10-ish laps!

Didn't have much time to prepare myself for this, just watched Tidgney's guide once and went out there to see what I could do.

Like I said before, this is MY kind of Time Trial, low-powered road cars on a tight track... the Clio fits and feels very well on this track, very controllable and fun to drive.

Of course, I could improve my time a little bit with some proper preparation, analyzing Tidgney's guide a bit more to refine my driving line which is kinda all over the place right now... but then again, I don't want to exhaust myself just to gain a few more tenths, unless my PB is suddenly at risk, which I doubt it'll ever be.

Gaining a few tenths won't change the final outcome, it's already a safe Gold imo... might just do another 10-15 laps session before the end of the event and put it to rest.

I’m feeling the NSX/maggiore combo. I’m in the 1:40.7s. I love the car, I love the track….I hate spinning out in T2😂

I will make another attempt today. I can see what the top ghost is doing. He’s going hard to T1, getting a little bit left to prepare for T2, and leveraging the oversteer to get a good entry and rotation into T2. There’s a skid mark mid-T2 which is a decent acceleration marker.

My best T2, I felt overseer and the car just dove-in like magic. Hard to replicate that behavior in the car. It was a rush!!

Usually, when I spin out in T2, I’m not getting enough rotation or I’m accelerating too hard/too early.

The sweeping right hand at the beginning of sector 2, I’m actually timing braking/turning from the chime signifying the end of sector 1, like a rhythm pattern 😋

I can nail the hairpin at the beginning of sector 3, using camber of the track, hard on accelerator as soon as you hit the white stuff on the right hand side and pray 🙏

This is a good TT. Really gotta keep the car on an understeer/oversteer pattern to get good time…this TT is showing me what driving on the limit should feel like… and then pummeling me into the ground with T2 spin-outs 😂

Trust the aero, come off the brakes earlier and let the car coast and grip. It’s a fun one, with manual gears it’s relatively if not frustrating for the up hill esses but fun.

Let the cars aero do its thing and you’ll have less understeer and oversteer. Smoooooooth is fast

I always go for smooth, get to 4pc, then wring its neck with underpants staining laps to get gold.

Are you guys taking the right hander at LM in 2nd or 3rd? The one after the sector 1 chicane. I like shifting down to 2nd for the rotation but on exit its faster in 3rd so am conflicted.

I know there is a lot of talk about Pad/controller play on Laguna, but honestly it’s far from easy on a wheel and especially with VR.

It’s difficult across the board.

The fact that only 1.8% of people are even in gold territory is bloody telling.
And it keeps getting worse I see, I did a .303 this morning...... gold is now a 304 🤣🤣🥳🥳
But I just don't want to go back..... 🤣

Yeah I don’t know what to say, it’s not one that I enjoy. I only did it because I didn’t do the first years TTs seriously. I wish I hadn’t done it. It’s just not fun for an average player like me.

Now the Clio I will go back too with lots of effort and fun, just wanted it to settle before going back in.

I prefer stability through turn 4 so I try and avoid mounting grass. And as for the fast left, nothing really works except for praying🤣.

Don't worry I won't improve by much more If I do run again. I get too nervous If I hit a .4xx at split 2, can't seem to convert it.
Same happens here, I try my best to only see if its green or red and not look at the actual value.

One thing I found last night that is working for me, is a higher momentum speed through T2. You have to let off the brakes earlier, and you don't need as much throttle to get rolling again. I'm now able to to at least be close to the aliens there.

Check out Digit's site, register and keep track of all the TTs and Daily races.

Couple of Race C events at Trial Mountain in the Viper (lots of fun for those that haven’t tried it) and then had 15 laps in the Clio and picked up a couple of tenths. So close to a 2:04 but there wasn’t much margin left in some places!

Yeah mee too, totally now joy on this one, and it takes precious time away from the things i like, the Clio i like and the NSX is pleasant too, and both times can be far better for me if it wasn't for that stupid jet on Seca 😂

So, this beeing said, i think i made my choise, i'm going to spend my next sessions on the Clio even if the gold-bar drops and i'm out,
It's a shame that the combo just doesn't work for me on the pad, but you can't always throw 6 right, most of the time it's all balanced and very competitive but this is just fighting something you can hardly win, besides .... i'm not one of the once with all golds, does't hurt the stats that much......

Ego..... yeah different story

I seriously consider settling for bronze at Lagu Seca. No chance in hell gold is possible if our resident pad aliens barely make it in.

It is just no fun at all and getting silver would take at least an hour or two for me I would guess.

I hope that the next one is another pleasant one and I should get going with the NSX soon too.

P.S. - Was it in GT4 or 5 where all Your friends ghosts would appear together as racing lines together when playing the TT. That was so much fun as we could see the different lines all would take coming to the apex of a corner.
It was GT6 that had that feature. I turned it off as it would be rather distracting having a million different lines in front of you. It would have been way better if you had the option of selecting just one friend's line to follow.

I was one second away from gold and I couldn't quite see how to get there... 🤔
The day before yesterday, I scraped 5/10 and last night another 3/10...
I only have 2 left... or rather 3 or 4 to be on the safe side...

My S3 and S4 are acceptable, but I need to find something for S2 and especially S1...🤔

The Japanese ghost I'm following is 1 second ahead of me in S1 and 1 second ahead in S2...

But this morning, I read a lot of interesting things about how to negotiate T1-T2 and then T3-T4...

And on the video by ‘bigfluffly888’, I see that I only lose 4/10 in S1 and that I'm only 1 second behind at the end of S2... I'm going to study this closely and I might have a chance of succeeding...

Group 2 are my favourite cars... 620bhp, downforce, racing tyres, grip... fast but not too fast...
That's what I like about Gran Turismo... I'm less comfortable with 600PP cars with ‘sport’ tyres... and it's less exciting...😅

I have 8 days left to succeed, because after that I'm going south to my brother's house where I can compare his Fanatec CSL Elite to my TGTII...
