so no one has gotten the ariel atom..............??

Yep and played around with it a lot, it's great fun with the pro-sim handling turned on.

👍

I've used them and got bored.. They understeered a fair bit for me.. I spend most of my Time darting around in DTM and V8 Supercars

Meh, i play around in the Autosport Clios loads:D probably too much for my own good really..

I've got the game, my favourite online rooms to play in are the UKOG rooms, my online name is MattD1Drift.

Well after a week and a half of owning this game, I have one complaint. In the driver's cockpit view, when you turn your head to see your mirrors, they don't actually work and reflect nothing. Which is starting to annoy me a lot recently.

Mine do, there was an box I ticked in the options to allow mirrors on or off.

And you can setup your cars and tweak the suspension, gears, downforce ect and in some events you can change parts, but it's not like GT4's tuning. In some events your car is given so many slots, you can change some of the cars parks like the manifolds, brakes, rollcage ect and different parts give different benefits, but the better the part, the more slots it takes up. So you have to manage your parts well in some races.

Sounds challenging. 👍

Sorry if this has been mentioned already, this thread's huge now and the search facility never seems to work for me on this latest version of GTP!

- has anyone ever experienced 'silent' engines? - What i'm on about is, and i've come across it at least half a dozen times, is i'm driving along and suddenly it sounds like the engines cut out. It hasn't, because the car keeps on excelerating and the throttle indicator is still on full. It's not like the sound has cut out completely because other cars can still be heared!?!?!

I think it's a disk read issue, your cars engine sounds are streamed, if the disk stops being read during a race your engine will stop making any sound. All the other cars engine sounds are less complex and are loaded into the PS2's RAM. I don't have this problem with the PC version since the game uses more RAM to store extra data.

I got the same problem Cracker..so i took my ps2 version back and went for the xbox version and its perfect.

So far I have not had this problem. But you know how it goes, I will load the game again this week and with my luck it will happen. :dunce:

I can live with the sound issue, it only occurs for a couple of seconds when it does crop up.

I have to say that the game is really growing on me now, i'm in the middle of a 1930's GP series and the handling of the cars and the degree of throttle control needed is great 👍 I've finally done a race on the Silverstone national circuit where the correct racing line and braking points have to be used 👍 👍

I've not really had time to play the game that much so far, and when i switch it on i usually find myself in the middle of a championship. Can anyone tell me if Toca RD3 has a similar free play section like the first PS2 Racer Driver game, where you can choose any circuit, any length of race, any car (except the BTCC, DTM and V8 Supercars) and choose your A.I. field from all the cars available? After i'd finished the story line section, these free play options kept me playing the game for months and months afterwards. If its been left out of RD3 then Codemasters have really missed a trick.

It is in the section to the right of pro career mode, Cracker, i forget what it is named now but it also contains the online mode and a few other things.
Edit; sorry, i don't know if theres a 'pure' mix & match race generator as the free races follow the unlocking steps in pro career. if this is what ure asking you'll need a 100%ile!

The PS2 soundglitch & the problems w/ streaming had a Codies notification posted up in this thread about pg2@100

I wish I had Network Disc here.. I might of been able to connect through my PC and join you guys : (
For getting the PS2 on-line? ToCA 3 has the the exact same on-line stuff built into the game. You don't need the SONY disc.

Hmmmm. You probably meant the Network Adapter...

Correct. All you need to do it wait for a second or two and it starts streaming again.
No biggie.

P.S. ToCA 3 deserves its own forum.

Yeah, but I don't think it's a disk reading error though. I'm running it on my PS2's HDD and it happens too.

I've found the Codemasters explenation posted by Master GT in post 539
RD2 uses a looped, memory resident sample system whereas RD3 uses long sweeps that have to be spooled real-time from the DVD.

The engine sounds can only cut out if the DVD fails to read that sector of the disk, which is much more likely with old and worn decks, dirty lenses, scratched disks or DVD-R's (much higher error rates). Read errors happen all the time, even on new DVDs and decks, but the decks are designed to cope with this. We also buffer the sound ahead of when it is needed and so can experience a large number of read fails (around 20 I believe) before any dropouts occur.

If dropouts do happen, you will lose car engine audio for a few seconds before a backup looped system (used for other AI cars) takes over. The spooled system then picks up again when the read errors drop. You can test this by playing the game and taking the disk out. The engines will stop before the looped system takes over.

In reply to FatAssBR a HDD is still a disk and information is still streamed from it, my guess is that the HDD doesn't read fast enough to keep up with the data needed.

Anyone know if the logitech headset is the only headset you can use online? Cause mine doesn't work for some dumb reason and it ain't a logitech. Oh ya, here's another question. How do you talk online anyways? Is there a button you press to talk?

I've already asked Duke about it - he thought it was a good idea, and was going to put it to Jordan....

....it was a few weeks ago now.

You can't rush an add-on to the forums, one bug could bring down the entire site.

Adding a forum wouldn't cause any bugs..

It'd be nice to see a forum, but if Jordan doesn't think it will benfit the community, I wouldn't expect it to appear

I have only used a Logitech brand chat headset, so I can't say if other brands work or not. Since these are supposed to be USB compliant, they all should work, but then we do live in the real world.

AFAIK, these are VOX controlled. The circuit opens when we make enough noise to broadcast, then they go quiet when we are quiet. Mine are not PTT (push-to-talk) operated and we wouldn't want that, either. There is a switch on my cord, but I've never even looked at it. It may be a kill switch.

Cheers,

Well, when I go to my network settings there is an option for voice output, if my headset was recognized by the game, would it says headset as an option? The only option showing up is speakers (TV) and off. So that means I can hear people talk throught my tv but cannot talk back.
