i vote this game for sub-forum status or at least a sticky!

time will tell though ;)
This has my vote too. Then we could make different forums for questions and a place to post our updated game stats. "Game Stats" thread. xbox questions. PS2 questions. 👍

665 posts so far, and this isn't the games only thread, theres a couple in the PC section.

I picked this up yesterday and must say it's not all that bad, some of the race series are a pain in the ass though.

What do you guys think of the rallying in the game? I think it's ok, should have been better though considering it's from the Colin McCrae guys.

I dont think it is too bad. Obviously no where near as good as Rallisport challenge or any game like that. I just keep in mind that this is a collection of every kind of car game in one. If I want rally I will put in Rallisport challenge 2. This allows us to have a variety even though it is not the cream of the crop. :sly:

I've said it before that ToCA 3's dirt rallying sucks. There is almost no feedback through a wheel even when cranked up full. The dirt tracks are as smooth as a mill pond and the AI aren't living under the same restrictions/rules as we must. The rally AI tend to go faster than me while spending a large portion of their time beating each other (and me) up & going sideways than I can by staying out of harm's way and with my wheels pointing straight ahead most of the time. Impossible and maddening!

It seems only parts of the sim are done well.

Cheers,

MasterGT

I have only raced a few of the rally events but I got massive air on a couple of the world tour events. Also with some quick adjustments the cars are very easy to control.

Yeah, the rallying and off road sections aren't the best parts of the game, but if you set the cars up better they respond a hell of a lot better.

My car set-ups can't make up for whatever else is going on or what is not going on with the track, the wheel and the AI performance and handling.

Cheers,

MasterGT

I found some of the off-road cups, like the Beetle one, to be pretty entertaining actually.

My car setups can make up for the way the AI cars handle better, they can make mine handle like them, it can't increase the wheel feedback, but the handling can be sorted.

I would agree... I was pretty dissapointed in the rally events, especially since I was really looking forward to them... I am a huge rally freak... I work on the World Performance team at local SCCA rallies, so I am always on the lookout for good immersive rally experiences (of which, I did not get with Toca3)... So far, the most immersive realistic rally experience I have ever experienced was with "WRC 4", which is only available in the UK... Apparently there aren't enough rally fans in the US...

As LFS said... If you set the car up right, it becomes a lot more fun... Still, it's not quite right...

Have you ever played Rallisport Challenge 2? IMO that is the best rally game ever made. I have it for XBOx. Not sure how good it would be on PS2 if it even exists for PS2.

It's only for Xbox, as far as I know... I went on a little hunt yesterday, for rally games on PS2 (in the US)... I was suprised to see what little there is out there... I found "Paris-Dakar Rally", and "Colin Mcrae 3".... If anyone here has any good suggestions for PS2 rally games, by all means, send me a PM (to keep this thread on topic)... I am dying to find something good...

BTW, is "Rally Sport Challenge" set up like a real rally?... Do you have a co-driver?... Are the races set up in stages?... I have never played it, so I am indeed interested in maybe picking up a second hand Xbox, if there is something to offer on the console...

RSC2 is Xbox only and its a good fun game, but best rally game ever depends on what you are looking for. As an arcade racer yes its one of the best, as a rally sim its very poor.

The best rally sim on the market by a long way is Richard Burns Rally (PS2, Xbox and PC), but as far as I know it wasn't released in the US.

I have the PS2 version and while it does require a good wheel its a supurb sim.

You should definelty check it out. The coolest part is every race you do or anything you attend is recorded on xbox live. Plus you can even play online against other people. Yes you have a co-driver always telling you the correct corners to take. Whenever people say they want a xbox this is usually one of the first games EVERYONE recomends for it. Its that good. :)
There is snow mud dirt tarmac huge rocks. Awesome pikes peak hill climbs. Excellent graphics too!!!

i wanna see a vid of someone reaming on a Supercharged Ariel Atom to get me motivated to buy this game. I just bought an Xbox just to play Forza so its eating alot of time right now. Could someone please make a vid of driving the Ariel Atom S/C PLEASE!!!!!!! :)

Ive been trying to play around with the DFP saturation to get it just right, because I feel as if the cars only turn half way (and they appear to visually):odd: . If the saturation is set to 100% it feels as if you need to really turn the wheel to get the car to nudge a bit. It's almost as if the steering becomes very slugish :irked: . Compared w/ GT4's DFP feeling, i feel as if the saturation should be set somewhere in the 40's, but then you end up turning lock to lock only 180 degrees. Anyone feel the same way? What do you guys set ur saturation levels to? Thanks.

Woo, I might get this game tomorrow!

Got the game today and wow, I'm amazed on how good this game is. I love the amount of AI you get on track. Physics on pro sim are top notch! I'm gonna go online a little later after I get used to this gamea little more!

Oh ya, during the championships am I allowed to leave the series after doing 3 races and do soemthing else and comeback to finish it? Or do I have to finish the championship before I can do anything else?

Well I just came back from playing this game online and well, online play is a bit iffy. Every room I played it in was lag-tastic for some reason and I'm running on a 5mbps connection. Also, I had my PS2 headset plugged in and the game doesn't recognize my headset at all so I cannot communicate with the other races at all, its quite frustrating as I have used this headset perfectly fine with every game I've played online...

Good to hear some feedback on the on-line TRD3 experience.

However, if you could avoid putting up a new post straight after your last one it would be appriciated, the edit button would have been a better choice. Just helps to keep the threads tidy.

Thanks

I'm yet to try online, I'm waiting to beat the single player game first.

Sorry about that, I forgot I was the last person to post in the thread.

About online play, I'd like to know why my game doesn't recognize my PS2 headset. Its quite frustrating. It doesn't say anywhere that it has to be the Logitech headset infact it in the manual it just says to plug in any universal headset.... On a side note, open wheel cars online in a laggy room is almost suicide for everyone in the room when it comes to the first corner.
