I'd like to open this thread with a history lesson:

Modern BTCC is doing very well at moment, but what about the true glory days? TOCA Super Touring nearly killed the BTCC due to costs... the cars where quick, competition was fierce, but it was not sustainable.


But look at the cars. With rear wings and bodykits the cars didn't quite look like the road cars. Still damn awesome but touring car's are supposed to maintain a link with road cars.



Look at the 1992 cars here. They look like road cars. No mad spoilers and also lot less tech in them. And they still race like crazy. Brilliant racing.

So... is less not more? That is the question I want to pose to you as I gradually unveil TOCA Season 5.

Technical Changes
~A lower HP limit of 295hp
~A lower weight limit of 1150kg, however this will only apply to a couple cars.
~Racing Hard Tyres
~Longer Night Races at Le Mans!
~1 additional part added to cars now.
~1 part now taken away.
~1 part changed in grade.
~Fuel use / tyre wear OFF
~Stewards Panel to be re-formed.
~5 Teams MAXIMUM, 1 MAKE per Team set (so only 1 Ford team for instance).
~4 cars have been held off this season and will probably appear in Season 5
~Quadruple-header finale at the Nurburgring!

No. But certainly take idea's from classic BTCC on how to make racing better. Certainly we had only 4 cars for Season 4, too little. And 1 was way off the pace (Honda).

I see... but maybe Season 6 (maybe thinking way too far ahead?) use classic saloons like the 190E, the Carlton?

That would be awesome, we would have to limit the power though.
 
But what else did the 90's have? For one more cars. And multiple drivetrains.
 
Figure this out. A car I tested today is slowest over the 1/4 mile, 0-60 and 0-100 test, yet fastest over 1 mile :confused:

Anyway yes a DLC car and track are in this season.
 
It's such a shame the game doesn't have a livery editor, your series would be so good visually if the cars were in the same warpaint as those '92 cars :'(

Anyway Spa is in. 1 race from S4 schedule will be dropped.

S4 cancelled.

So S1 - did half season
S2 - Full Season
S3 - Half Season
S4 - cancelled
S5 - coming up.
 
Think of TOCA Season 5 as a combination of everything that made BTCC great.

Cars, manufacturers, sound, tracks, weather, pit stops, all possible in this season.

One thing for sure... The old guard are going to have competition. :D

At the exact time people packed up and left... and from those botched Season 4 beginnings I did notice a few things I could tweak.
