P.S GT4 should have (but probably wont :grumpy: ) the in car veiw that this game does. It's probably quite simple to pull off as no extra poly's are needed as there is no cockpit as such just a view behind the windscreen.

yep. they should.

wtf? i just saw the ps2 ad for this game and a v8 supercar just did a jump like it launched of a ramp coming over a hill in bathurst i thought this was suposed to be realistic.

It is realistic. You can get massive air at Brathurst on several hills. Especially with a fast car. Watch the video I posted on my site. Called Toca2 Brathurst. Just imagine those hills with a Fast car.

oh 1 more question which i dnt really think this would happen but do the pit crews repair body work damage that would be cool as.

Pit crews don't repair body damage, in fact their is no pit crew! just a black screen with a progress bar at the top.

As for the jumps at Bathurst perhaps the real life pro's just slow down a little for the crest of the hills so that they dont take off and lose control?

yes, they repair body damage. You have to select how much you want repaired on a slider bar before you pit. It adds more time to your pit stop (obviously).

In the Xbox version you drove through the pits very slowly and the damage would disappear, the car wouldn't even stop let alone a pit crew coming out!

that NEVER happened to me. It went to a black screen immediately, wherein you select how much you want done, sort of like this:

___________change tires____________fix x amount of damage___________
10 seconds 20 seconds

Was that online or offline? For me it was online.

You are both right.Online you don't see a black screen. You just drive through the pitlane and your car is fixed.Offline, you can select how much to repair.By sliding the bar all the way you will repair everything but it will take longer .If you choose only to repair the car partially you can do a pitstop in half the time required.
And no,body damage is not repaired although it has no real effect if you are driving with a rear wing or without so it doesn't matter. So visually your car is still a wreck.

played this game yesterday all i can say is that it was average i was obvoiusly expecting to much. The thing that annoyed me the most is the views they were all gay compared to the first game.

yeah, that's exactly what I meant. 👍

I just got the Ps2 version. Here's a mini-review:

graphics: kind of lost in translation I would say. Less draw distance, more jaggies, blurrier textures, laughable particle effects, and less reflections. Generally, it's not bad because it retains the cool lighting and excellent car models from the PC and Xbox versions. Still runs smooth, but slows down a touch more.

gameplay: I haven't had a chance to test out the DFP yet, as I haven't received mine yet, but the handling is still great for the road racing. The rallying/rallycross/ice-racing are all a complete waste of time however, with WIERD physics and funky controls. The road racing is intense and exciting, and it feels like you're really accomplishing something when you work your way through the pack.

sound: pro logic II sounds good. The engines sound kind of "fuzzy" for a lack of a better word. Overall it gets the job done.

features: just as limited as the xbox version, but at least they didn't cut anything out like most companies do for ps2 ports.

online: impressive for ps2. Not as good as live, but it's free, so who can complain. It can jump a little once in a while, but generally it's pretty solid.

Overall: worth the purchase, even without the DFP.

You failed to mention the $30 U.S. price. I'd say its a must have if you like the first one.

Pro sim mode is only for wheel users. I just opend DTM :).

yes it was 40$ cdn. I also bought CMR 2005 while I was at it for 30$ cdn (steal!).

and then san andreas. oh lord. 3 games in 2 days.

needless to say, the codies racers are taking the backseat for the next couple weeks.

i just bought the PS2 version yesterday
i tried to play it with my DFP wheel, but seems it doesn't support 900 degree, do i have to setup anything from option menu?

i am playing this game with 'pro-sim' and 'clutch option' seems pretty fun.

I got mine yesterday too, along with San Andreas. Both games rocks! I think the graphics of Toca 2 is pretty close to the Xbox version, but with more aliasing. I tried to play in Pro-Sim mode with de DS2. It´s hard, specially driving the Ford GT40.

also, i want to ask...i remember TOCA 1 has car setting section, it seems that TOCA 2 doesn't have it, am i correct? or it will only let you setup for certain cars, since i am only in the 1st few races

Any RD2 PC players? RSCosworth and I were thinking of making GTPlanet skins.
Also, anybody up for an online enduro?

tuning is not available in the career mode, but online and the time trile mode has full tuning. Simple but useful. Even a nice tourque curve for setting up gears.

I really like that feature: it can really make a huge difference in your results. and it's simple enough that you can do a quick tune up before starting a race online.

Something that bothered me a little yesterday, I was playing that stage where you have to beat two other pilots, one Brazilian and another British I think?! So I finished it first, and than the CG came up but the "Brazilian" guy(I think his name is Cesar) was speaking Spanish! :ouch:

It´s nice to have Brazil remembered in a game and all, but at least do the job right. That apart, I´m enjoying the game very much!👍

I'm still reluctant to get Toca Racedriver2, I was so desapointed with Racedriver1 ( and with Colin McRae3 at the same time ) the graphics of racedriver1 were so "arcadish" compared to GT3.
What would convince me is a screenshot side by side of both racedriver1 and racedriver2 on the same track and if possible at the same spot.
I never trust screenshots from magazines supplied by the game publishjer because they have been taken from the development system at ultra high resolution on a $ 5000 monitor, so it doesn't render what I'll get at home on my TV ( the same is true for the illustrations on the back of the game box )

graphics determine what games you like? guess you never tried LFS S1.
