If you haven't already looked it up, are you adjusting the gear ratios? You'll need to make your top speed only as high as needed and that will make room for more power in the speed metric. I've also been using lower level clutch and transmission since they have a big impact on the speed metric. People have probably min-maxed all of this by now but this is the simple way I've been doing it. It's still tough but doable.MASTER TUNE MODE!! Anyone got far with this yet? With Skills and Nitro disabled?
Got my Platinum Trophy at the weekend (basically a NG+ speedrun in the GTR 17 to acquire the two trophies I didn't/couldn't get on first playthrough), and restarted NG+ in Master Tune mode (with Skills and Nitro disabled for a more 'realistic' experience) and WTH?
Completed Stage 1 (350 speed metric) with the AE86, but now stuck at Stage 2 (400 sm). Is there a meta car or setup secret, something I'm missing? Seems impossible. Every opponent is so different, some are just about beatable, but most just shoot off, uncatchable... Tried with 180sx and RX7FD so far, but looks like a very big ask. Even Rolling Master and Happy Chappy were hard to beat at Stage 1 with the AE86 tuned to the 350 limit, but at 400 even the lower team members seem untouchable. Relying on their crashes doesn't make for a great gaming experience.
If anyone has got further than Stage 1 please let me know how you've managed it...
This Master Tune mode has led to my longest gaming session in a LONG time. I'm addicted.
