Don't get it for the cars, only get it if you are a THPS fan, I cars handle like crap, and are very unrealistic, but as far as Tony Hawk games go, this is the best one ever. I have played it through twice already, and I am on my third time through it.
Friend brought it over the other day. It completely and utterly rules. And if you're really a skater - you can connect with it more. It stays pretty realistic but has some crazy stuff in it (Like in the first one).

Well I just beat this game on the normal difficulty level. The game was awesome, but I was a bit disappointed about the goals, they were far too easy. Except for the final goal that is, I loved that one, doing a 41 spot line in under 2 minutes. Hopefully "sick" difficulty will provide me with some more challenge.
My brother, and I both have the game, because we live in different states, and we wanted to play against each other online. My brother is the best person I have ever seen play THPS, and he said that sick mode is even difficult for him.
