I wonder if after the update, anyone else is finding the 'Follow through' (or at least the right bend towards the tires) part of the race invalidates easily. Even When you don't run over the red and whites I always seem to be adjudged to have done something wrong?!
Please tell me if this is what you are experiencing.

Regards, Nick.

The whole TGTT got a huge restriction on track limits following criticisms of it previously during the Mercedes SLS AMG time trial. But yeah, the follow through is hugely strict now.

Especially considering that the Stig normally takes a tight line.

Yeah, watching Top Gear I always see him drive over the red and white painted area, but in GT5 if you even touch it you're punished. You're also punished if you go too quickly and understeer wide of the accepted racing line (not off the track, just a bit wide), because you were forced to go wider because you cant clip the apex...

The Stig cuts the follow-through and frequently cuts the corner going through the tires. Try either of these and it's instant Disqualification. It's much the same as Eau Rougue-Radillion at Spa, where you can't even put a wheel on the kerb.

I was racing the other night with some friends online on TGTT. One of my friends was constantly getting penalties at the follow through, even when he said he hadn't clipped the line. Thing is, I went off in my own world and almost forgot to brake for the hammerhead, so obviously I was going to accidentaly cut it, and I practically cut all of it accidentaly and I got no penalty. o_O

If PD made the "striped-painted" areas slick like they are in real life (allegedly) they could reduce the restriction because it wouldn't be worth it to cut if you lost traction.

Noticed this also and I can't think of what the logic behind it is, if you miss the apex and run wider than the racing line you're losing time actually, why invalidate the lap then? :irked:

I've also questioned whether it is as slippery as Jezza says it is, but worth a shot. The paint at the beginning of the drag strip in the Indy Road Course is super slippery, so just do it there too.

To be honest, in my opinion the whole track has been compromised by the way PD have produced it.
Cones everywhere, invisible track limitations, and worst of all, a painted start/ finish line that bears no resemblance to where the timer starts or stops.
Gambon corner has no "bump" on the inside to launch the car, which was the sole reason for it getting the name in the first place. It should also be possible to run it in the two configurations used in the show, Regular and Short Circuit.

Also, given that the grass on the outside of the circuit is not going to give you any speed advantage, as far as legitimate lap times are concerned, I honestly don't see the point of rendering it and then being restricted as to how far off you can slide backwards in a hail of white smoke and panic. Certainly a limit should be imposed, but not the the approximate 2 or 3 feet that has been implemented!

Woefully bad, especially the start line, meaning that you cannot actually record an accurate standing lap time, as per most people's expectations of the track, given it's most well known use in the shows.

(There's also a timing glitch, which means you can record a lap time of under 35 seconds without even completing half a lap, no Redbulls required. Shocking!)

Edit - Regarding the track paint, it would only be hazardously slippery if PD has also added the typical British weather to it, as when it's dry you'll be fine to run over it. However, show it some water,,, and we're into a whole different ballgame!
