I know someone else did it faster, but here's mine anyway:
Car: Mercedes SL 600
Top Speed: 266.9 (Edit: 267.4)
PP Min/Max: Not sure...
Aero Front Min/Max: None
Aero Rear Min/Max: None
Additional Notes: Stage 2 turbo is the best compromise. The Stage 1 makes 1189 lb-ft at very low RPM, which is amazing, but doesn't work real well for most situations. With the Stage 2 you need some very very high gearing because you need to stay in the power band which starts feathering out past 5500 RPM.

Edit: I discovered the type of tires you use affects top speed. Doesn't have anything to do with changing the gearing like in GT4 (because apparently different tires were different sizes). Racing softs seem to be the best. Racing Wet reduced the top speed by 4 MPH!

Which SL 600 did you use leeson65 ?

The SL 600 (R129) '98 or SL 600 (R230) '04 ?

MadMax

I'd say that's the R230, as the 129 hasn't got nearly enough power to deliver that sort of speed.

Stage 3 on the R230 is good for just over 270mph though, just shift slightly early as the main chunk of power comes from mid ranges.

(EDIT: 249.4mph in the Option Z, I hadn't updated the main sheet yet, just my own personal test sheet.)

Speaking of the R230 ,

Car: Mercedes-Benz SL 600 (R230) '04
Top Speed: 440.4 km/h / 273.7 mph
PP Min/Max: 544/642
Aero Front Min/Max: 0/0
Aero Rear Min/Max: 5/20
Additional Notes: High RPM Turbo

Car: Dodge Viper GTS R Concept '00
Top Speed: 413.1 km/h / 256.7 mph
PP Min/Max: 569/675
Aero Front Min/Max: 0/0
Aero Rear Min/Max: 25/40
Additional Notes: Wing

Car: Toyota Toyota 7 Race Car '70
Top Speed: 380.5 km/h / 236.4 mph
PP Min/Max: 604/734
Aero Front Min/Max: 30/60
Aero Rear Min/Max: 50/85
Additional Notes: High RPM Turbo

Yea it is the 2004. I had been looking for the SL600 for three months in the UCD and finally found one and maxed it out. When it only got 600 horsepower I realized there must be more than one year for it! Took another three months to find the '04.

I'll have to try the Stage three turbo. It actually maked less power but I'll give it a shot because I can't brake 267 with the Stage 2. Thanks for the tip Smuttsy.

Car: 2004 Mercedez Benz SL 65
Top Speed: 264.8
PP Min/Max: not sure
Aero Front Min/Max: 0/0
Aero Rear Min/Max: 0/0 (don't have a wing)
Additional Notes: Stage 2 turbo

The SL600 (R230) makes 1004bhp on a stage 2 turbo, 1025bhp (sometimes 1024) on the stage 3. The SL65 gets more from the stage 2, rather than the SL600.

But you can post the Replay file (or send it to the TOPIC MANAGER) .. NOW is POSSIBLE !

:)

how you do that?

EDIT: what i mean is how do i pass it on to the pc and show it to you guys?

Save replay , go to Replay theatre , eport to XMB , copy to USB device , import to computer , zip and attach to your post at GTPlanet.

Better and more accurate walk thru here.

I was suprised to beat it.. I'm sure some one will beat it soon though
A pic would be fantastic.

i dont know why but the ps3 doesnt recognizes my hard drive so i cant copy to it. any way, 487.0 km = 302.607 miles

i dont have the dlc bought, it is always on someone elses track. any other tips on how to do it?

In that case you , PROBABLY, haven't reached that speed ...
(how many times i've read 458 on ssr7..and the replay displays only 457 :grumpy:)

In this TREAD , i think, only speeds from "Power & Speed" section of GT5 !

But at the end you have anyway a real good top speed !👍👍

From the OP:
3) Bring it to Route X DLC track, it should show up as "Speed testing" in GT Life

So if you don't have the DLC you obviously don't have access to the speedtest, which is where the vast majority of the other speeds are being posted from, all of which are a standing 10km limited run, whereas online free run is completely unlimited therefore almost any speed is possible.

I think there should be some clarification by submitters as to whether their speeds are posted from free run or speedtest, as otherwise this could become very skewed and messy. A speed posted using speedtest can easily be beaten in free run, especially with the "hill" on the other side of the circuit.

All my speeds are posted from speedtest only, it's really the only accurate measure.

My x2010 (colored version) reach 505km/h(314mph) without drafting and I reached 715km/h(444mph) with drafting and my friend did 728km/h with the x2011(452mph).

Wow 248.3mph in the Aventador is an impressive time...! I only managed 225.6mph, though my new testing regime only allows a mid Turbo and no exhaust upgrades or weight/engine level 1/2/3 upgrades.

I think that my video it could be the same ;)

[Very fast Veyron video]

..in my board .. with the GTONE ...506.5 km/h (314.8 mph) ...

Nice ,

I gave the Veyron first try today and got it up 486.0 km/h / 302.0 mph
I've been using 10/90 torque split. It's propably slowing me down because the wing comes down later than in your video , IR.

Also , what's the deal with the GT-One being that fast? (except that it was fast in GT4 too)

I found that launching with the 10/90 and then using the RA menu reverting back to 50/50 once it's on the move seems to aid the acceleration rate until it hits the aerodynamic drag. I can't say for absolute certain, as I use manual transmission for my speed runs, so it could just be a miniscule time difference in my gearchanges but I'll try it again tomorrow with automatic gearchange and see what happens.

Me and another member of GTExD reached this speed with different setup ..
I know that ZioCosta (he is one of the 506.5) did 486.6 (302.4mph ) with 10/90 , mine was 40/60 and 30/70 ....

On youtube you can find the videos of the 2 GTONEs at 506.5 !

With AutomaticTransmission you loose 0.2÷0.4 km/h (~0.2 mph)

Just completed a comparative test with the veyron's torque split and found no changes in the top speed, but it will hit it sooner with the 50/50split. I even tried a 10/90 launch, reverting to 50/50 once the wing dropped at about 230mph and that yeilded exactly the same speed too. AT vs MT also gave the same result, so it's all down to the gearing, rather than how you're shifting, although MT is still the best option overall, as you can control where the next gear lands on the revs, which ultimately leads to a better use of the available torque.
