Not at all.

The GT drafting is a little overdone; arrange to be at about the point when the AI car is about to get barely visible as you come out of a corner on the Test Track, and even though the AI car won't reach your "maximum speed" you should easily accelerate well beyond your "maximum speed" as you go down the next straight (assuming you left room in your gearing, and, even if you didn't, GT often doesn't mind excessive redlining. GT1 especially).

*cough* hybrids

420km/h down the back straight in Test Course in a GTO Twinturbo.

Is that during a race or just a single lap test run? What are your gears set @?

O i dont remember, about 410 with the Mitsubishi GT0 twin turbo, never tried to go as fast as possible... :sly:

Why does nobody answer my setup questions when they have posted a good speed? Is this the wrong thread to ask such questions? All I want to know is how they achived that speed, I have my car's set with Race trannies and I think they are setup pretty well to maximize top speed, but they might just need a tweak to get that ultra top speed. Which is why I ask.

Is anybody there, anbody...

271 mph / 436 kmh in the HKS Drag 180sx!

Im sure it can do better, it doesnt hold its speed too well on the corners and thats what lets it down! :(

In GT2 maybe, this forum is for GT. If you hybrid it with different wheels and a better 4WD chassis I've been told it holds the corners better.

I'm quite a completest and can't move on to something new until I'm completely happy I have found/done everything. My mistake was that when I brought my PlayStation (a very long time ago now), I started on GT1 first, I have over a hundred odd games now for the system, mostly imported RPG's and the like but they sit in dusty boxes in my loft waiting to be played, whilst GT1 is still firmly in my PlayStation :), call me whatever you like, because I know your right but I'm living testimony to the brilliance of the game. And of course so is this website, it really says that GT is a phenomenon. Even now after so much time I still can't stop I need help :scared:

In a nutshell people did not know what they were missing before GT1, that’s why it's so incredible, yes it's sequels have improved upon it greatly, but the revolution GT1 caused in the driving genre is a chapter in gaming history that can never be repeated. It's for this fond memory only why GT1 remains my favourite all-time GT.

OK and on to the topic at hand, just needed to say all that as this is my first and probably last post ;)

I have sometimes spent 30 hours a week just tweaking the gear ratios of a given car plus kept records and journals on the results!

I had my heart in my mouth today when looking back through this thread to see if anyone had topped my top speed. Looks like I did OK :)

I have never used any cheating devices (don't have any) plus this time is for non-slipstreaming, max speed test (on the test course) in one standard lap (no driving backwards at anytime to get corner balancing right speed, have replay to prove it)

421 KPH in my Supra '95 RZ. Using some online search engines for KPH to MPH that’s about 262 MPH :)

For the benefit of TMM who wants details, here we go :)

Gear Ratios 1st:4.400 2nd:2.403 3rd:1.699 4th:1.298 5th:0.860 6th:0.715 Final:2.700

Spring Rate Front:11.8 Rear:5.66

Ride Height Front:85 Rear:85

Damper Front:5 Rear:5

Camber Front:2.0 Rear:1.0

Stabaliser Front:1 Rear:1

Brake Front:5 Rear:8

Down Force Front:0.17 Rear:0.31

Hope everyone has fun with that, in my save it's the 1st car in my garage and has cost me a a whole chuck of my social life :ill:

Right I'm off to make a start on GT2, will post again in about 5-6 years with my results if it hasn’t killed me

Take care all

421 not bad, but I bet you couldn't put a fruit pastel in your mouth with chewing it???

I have made a note of your settings and I'll try them sometime, see if I can get a better top speed. I'll still be here in 5-6 years, probably still getting through GT2 but hopefully I will have moved onto GT3 or even GT4!!!!

Bulmiester
321mph in fully tuned TVR Speed 12 Slipstreaming and using nos Gears all adjusted for top end

What course and which version of the game are you playing, I'm guessing GT4 cause none of the others have NOS available.

On GT1 I had a top speed of 443km/h in a R33 GTR-V Spec Skyline. It had a green racing body..been years since I played that game!

And you can remember your top speed, well done. What where your settings for that car is that asking too much of your memory?

Afraid it is asking too much :guilty: I got bored with that particular game save so wiped it and started again....my brother cursed me for it as we couldn't seem to get that Skyline up to that speed again :nervous:

A one off.

But no specs :( Thats quite a jump up from my top speed, I worked years on 421 KMH and have the gear ratio settings to back up my claim.

I'm not doubting 443 KMH I just want someone who can beat 421 KMH without any cheat system to post there gear ratios as I now have to get that Skyline and loose a year or two of valuable GT2 playing time trying to see if it is possible to get 443 KMH :(

All I seek is speed :P (in a low poly video game :ill: )

It might depend on what track you are using. I remember thinking that my Supra, which got about the same speed as yourself, would probably go faster if the straight was a bit longer. Using the test track.

There's a few of us kicking around this forum and occasionally posting, just enough to keep it going...

i reached 431kph on test course in a Skyline R32 GTR. Hours of gear ratio tuning.
i also reached 439kph on test course in GTO Twin turbo. more hours of gear ratio tuning...lol

i'll never foget the day i topped 110 in my Mazda Demio Aspec limited. those were some edgy times, man.
