TCR – Wednesday 14th Midweek Break

Triumph Spitfire Tuned 230bhp – 718Kg – 500pp

As far as track choice goes, and as suggested by Carl and Rob, I would like to see a previously used created track for this combo, keeping it in the spirit of TCR 👍

I think that's a great idea as I'm home early and to be able to post something different on the thread during the day would be great.
Hay Davey, hope you had a good weekend. Yes TCR will still offer its weekly combo and I have confidence that people will run it as we have done great events in the past and I’m pretty sure people will offer/feel free to open rooms and run our combos. But I would also like this thread to be a place where people can feel free to tell anyone that they’re running something else as I get to join a great bunch of guys in the evening and for that I’m grateful.

Pins Circuit was a tight twisty one.

In the Vintage Car Race Club, we created the following solution for that situation:

1) an account named "VCRC". If we want to meet our friends to test or to have some casual fun racing, we go into that private lounge.
2) In our private club space-forum we have a thread called "Meet into the VCRC-lounge". If you are looking for friends only. You just post something like: hi, I will be in the lounge at that time and want to test this or that.

Perhaps we could think about something like that for TCR.

Hello everyone

Jon - That sounds like it could work, but I need a bit of time to update the thread still. I'm finding it hard to keep up, because of work and stuff, so bare with me. The best thing to do is PM me with all the details and I'll get to it.

On to more pressing things. Testing tonight will be going ahead with a couple of old tracks and Gravel Hill (which was tested last week). I think Hellhole has been withdrawn by Dave, for various reasons that are too complicated too explain right now.

Jon - Can you make the old track(s) available for others to download please?

This is just in case I can't get on at a reasonable time and therefore others can open the testing room instead. Gravel Hill should still be available from me for download.

👍

First post is now up to date with the fortnightly timetable.
I'll get on with Jon's idea ASAP.

Hi guys,
My room is open for testing.
So get your helmets on.

Good stuff Dave, thanks. I've got a lot to sort out this evening as I've got builders coming on Wednesday, so this week might be tricky for me.
Make sure you're testing the right tracks though!

It's Gravel Hill and a couple of old tracks that Jon wants to try, I think Pins is one of them. We need a final decision tonight on which track, so we can figure out the car tomorrow.

👍

If you do this and you open a room how do you access your cars? Oh sorry I just realised that somebody has created a psn account named VCRC.

What do I need to qualify to join this club as I know you guys have used some of my tracks and there has been positive feedback, don’t get me wrong I won’t give up on TCR as this is where you come to show off the best three sector tracks track creator has to offer and I know it’s a challenge to make good three sector tracks but this ties in with the racing theme when racing on real tracks. A lot of people are just about the racing but for me it’s about the track and I will keep on about the track Ferrence Circuit, Ovi Park, 301 Raceway, Rose Circuit, GT Paddock, Pins Circuit, Whansway Raceway, Boxston Circuit, Potsbrough Circuit these are just some of them that stand out as my standards are set high when I put forward a track for a combo but if you look back at all these tracks they all offered close racing. I will keep making three sector tracks and I won’t mind if anybody uses them somewhere else all I ask is that you post a little message on this thread as an invite (for TCR members) or feedback as it would be appreciated.

This is not directed at you turbogeit sorry if it seems that way.

It's just my contribution what I will bring forward to TCR.

Hi John, I really don't see this as directed to me, don't worry.

I don't know whether my previous message was clear enough.
All I wanted to say was: if you want a space were the guys who contribute to TCR can meet, a solution is:

1) create a specific "void" account (f.e. "TCR"). All those who want to use this space, send a Friend Request to this account, and then go with their normal account (and cars) into the private lounge of the "TCR" account.
2) For meeting there, create a thread "Meeting in TCR-lounge" and each time you want to go there to meet people, to test, etc. just post it there.

About my friends in the VCRC-club: if you (or anybody else) are interested, you just have to send a PM to Watermelonpuch, who will invite you to the club.

About your tracks. For the moment we did not yet have an organised, announced race using them. Just some casual fun racing and the people who were there really adored the TCR-tracks I showed them. It is evident that if we organize in the future scheduled races on these great tracks, we will post it here and invite all TCR-racers to join us.

Edit: Two important differences between what we do in VCRC and TCR:

- we sometimes race on "weird" road-tracks: Toscana, 100 turns, 7 sectors, 6 miles
- we most of the time race untuned low-powered (<250 BHP) cars on Soft comfort tyres

Sorry I wasn't around last night. I'm really struggling to juggle everything at the moment.

How did testing go?
I will go with whatever you guys think is the best track. Which old tracks did you test?

I couldn't find the room yesterday. So I tested offline the two new shared tracks I found:

Michigan Raceway (turbonator): that's a nice race track for LM Prototypes. One observation: the blue raceline crossed the pit-exit, means that in case of races with pitstop everybody should be carefull there.
overvalley circuit 6 (Joylord): exciting track, a real rollercoaster. I tested it with the Ferrari 458 Italia on (Sports Softs) with which I race in WSCC. Just be carefull for the drop-off at the inside of the lefthand hairpin!

Hehe everybody seems to want humps and bumps lately from created tracks so thought it would be a good track just to share and the drop off in the left hander was a little suprise but there was another line around it driving away from the apex. I deleted this track so if anybody wants it they'll have to get it from you.

Thanks for the feedback Carl.

Now look, I have two days in bed and the thread goes crazy, I too like Alexi have builders coming and going and as I just can’t sit back without doing something, put myself in bed to recover.

As Gary, Carl, Rob have said TCR track for Wednesday that’s what it will be, as we may well be using a re-visited track for the main event, I’ll go for the track I made for this Spitfire, Corvus Circuit Eifel (Kart)

I’ll share this track which only has 9 turns 7 rights and 2 lefts so not hard to get to grips with and all on the flat. Please test it out in the Spitfire, if you don’t like it we’ll use whatever track the TCR members pick for the main event.

Sorry for being absent a couple of days.

Phillip.

Hey all

I'll be updating the thread soon with this fortnights combo.
It's going to GT300's at Ronza Circuit.
I'm not sure if I'll be online tonight, so will make it available for download ASAP, but I think Jon has already made it available.

Also, after a good run of a few months, it's time TCR had a break for a couple of months. So after this fortnights combo, we'll be closing TCR for a little while as Jon and I have a lot on at the moment.

We'll still see you guys online for some casual racing (shuffle races here I come!) and may even open up the odd room for some TCR action, but it's just not going to be the full on 2 week combo with all the trimmings. So, we'll be getting online as and when we can squeeze it in.

Therefore, we'll still be using this thread as a meeting place and I'll update the first post to explain the function of the thread in more detail.

Don't think we're bored or tired of TCR, it's just Jon has a 2nd job and is in the process of sorting his life out :sly: and the karting season has started for me and I have building going on for a month. Plus work is super busy, so sod knows why I thought it would be a good time to start another business...and oh, did I mention, my wife and I are trying for a baby...what have I done!?!?!?!! :nervous:

I guess I should just sell my playseat and buy a child's buggy instead...NEVER!!!!

Anyway, enough waffle.
Thanks to all the great racers that make TCR what it is, I've spent many happy hours racing with you guys and will look forward to TCR getting back in to the swing of things once we're refreshed and full of new ideas.

👍

Alexi you need to clear your inbox a little.

Having read Alexi's post re-TCR I'll still be here working on Wednesdays - Shuffle and maybe other things while Jon and Alexi get their personal lives in order.

So things will be running as normal just not the full on fortnightly race event, but fill in with other things from members requests.

So I hope you'll all help me out over the short period

Phillip.

We are all here to keep it going guys.
Captain D and I are going to put some combo's together during the week.
Trust us we will make it happen, fun and full rooms.
See you all online sooooon.

Wednesday Midweek Break

We're off to the Spitfire Eifel Circuit.

picture.php

Royalty free photos, hope thats ok to use.

Saddle up with your helmets and goggles on, time to taxi in your Triumph Spitfire from 1974.

The runway is not to long just 2.35 miles, but getting your spitfire round is a challenge in itself, not the circuit I planned on, but one that I made just for this classic

Full tune plus aero: 234bhp - 718Kg - 502pp. Tyres Sport Soft

Room settings 226bhp - 720Kg.

Phillip

Circuit is shared if you wish to take a look before tonight.
I do have a spare Triumph Spitfire, painted and new boots, engine rebuild & body restore done. I’ve also fitted all parts + aero, if any member does not have the time (work) or Cr’s then I can gift you my spare one.

Good luck with sorting out your busy lives Alexi and Jon, I hope it's not too stressful 👍

As Dave has already posted, we will have some form of TCR action happening to keep us entertained.

Glad that you're maintaining the Wednesday night fun Phil, looking forward to the Spitfire event, although... that picture, I do believe that's a Hurricane :sly: Tally ho!!!

Spoke to Jon today and he said Gary has made an awesome track, do the event will be using that instead of Ronza. Ideally using the zonda, but room settings should be 404bhp, sports soft and 1350kg.

Will update this properly tonight or tomorrow.

I was having serious connection problems last night so this is what I got upto.

I needed to release some strees.

Good fun tonight with a very unforgiving car...lol

Spy.

Wednesday midweek break fun night (you having a laugh)

Spy got it in a nut shell unforgiving that’s an understatement, but typical of a 1974 sports car, yes I’m old and this is what they were like, you put 230bhp under the bonnet and all you’re going to do is make it 3.5 times worse.

Big thumbs up to TCR members that stuck this combo out, and apologies to the members that found it a little too tricky that were just looking for a fun night, the track was good, tight about 4 cars wide 99% of which was fast flowing with just a couple of places to test the skills of the members, given the right small sport car (latter-day) could be one to recall sometime.

A few photos of the fun once we all got to grips with this combo, ha that’s more than the tyres did with the tarmac.

I did see you in and out of PSN Jon, the combo was more re-warding once we all found where it was impossible to push, as the spitfire just had a mind of it's own.

Phillip.

I really wanted to join but I just couldn't connect and eventually gave up. The cars look cool though.

Driving into the sunset

As most of you know, TCR will be taking a break after this fortnights combo. I can honestly say that it actually makes me feel quite sad :(, but sometimes a mans got do to what a mans got to do or in other words "a mans got to do what a man is told by his wife". Only joking, my wife had nothing to do with this, although I wouldn't blame her if she did.

We recommend using the Zonda, but as this is a standard car, we're having to open it up to any stock car that meets the weight and hp allowance. I haven't got one myself, but I'm hoping that Jon will give me one…ooh er misses. I haven't even used the track yet, but Jon was raving about it, so it has to be a goodie.
