I still think that it is a bit much. Lets see what other people think before we make a decision.

That's the design brief. That's what people have to include in their layout. If they don't like it, they can pass on this round and come back for the next one.

Considering my eyes were pretty much attracted to that loop bit anyway, I don't mind this.

Why? I didn't see any previous winners impose their own rules. Why should you get to be any different? Trying to stack this round to your favour?

In order to have a fair, fun competition (and that's what this is supposed to be. Fun.), you should have the same rules for every round.

"It is recommended that the length of any new circuit should not exceed seven kilometers [4.3 miles]."

At least I'm playing by the FIA's rules I suppose, which is why I'm asking for some slack :)

Personally I think the brief is too restrictive and doesn't follow the rules set out in the opening post. The idea is to pick a city not an area in a city which is essentially what you've done. Also, the area you've picked leaves little room to go west which means that most designs will just end up going south or east of the current track, leading to much less variety than past the past city rounds, Minsk and Berlin.

On top of this you've imposed your own length rules outside the FIA's decreasing the area we have at our disposal and decreasing layout variety. Finally, the idea was to have alternating city rounds and current track rounds, which means this round should be a city round. However, effectively you have just picked the proposed Thailand Grand Prix track and said 'redesign it' by telling us we have to use part of the track, basically changing it into a track round which it is not supposed to be.

EDIT:- OK after actually clicking the 'roads we have to use', I think the brief is even more ridiculous. I assumed we would have to use some of the roads on the proposed track which would at least mean we could use the eastern or southern tip of the proposed circuit and expand out, but now I've seen we have to use that oval, thus limiting the designs even more that I'd first thought. If this round goes ahead in its current state then there will be virtually no variety.

Can I make a suggestion that it's upped to two rounds a week because the thread is pretty much dead for half of the week because everyone who wants to enter already has.

From now on, there is a maximum of ONE extra bound.

Well, that's killed it for me. I've often found that the extra limitations imposed on designs inspire the most creativity, but you evidently don't think that people are capable of such creativity.

Well that's your problem. The extra limitations reduced the creativity and meant we had less entries. You didn't even enter your round, screwing the rest of us up without joining in.

Next round, LOSAIL INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT, QATAR

Ok, so Losail. My first attempt with this competition. For starters, I've got rid of the opening 2 hairpin turns at the start in favour of a single fast, banking, right hander, then flicking left off the banking and onto the straight (as opposed to the right hander after the 2 original hairpins).

After that, I've kept the 1st of the 2 right angled turns, and cutting out the 3rd hairpin by having a shallower right leading into a tightish left. This then leads onto one of the few parts of the original track that I've kept, but at the same time, extending the straight from the 'esses' and going into a tight hairpin, with the possibility of a brave overtaking move or 2.

Following the new hairpin, the 'straight' is more of a straight, as opposed to the left hander on the original, which now leads in to shallower, faster, right as part of the 3 right handers towards the end of the lap. The second right follows the line of the original, but would now have some slight banking added to it, to improve the flow, and making the entry into the new longer and shallower right quicker.

As a result of the quicker right, the left hander after it is now tighter, possibly allowing for a brave move, if you can follow the car in front closely enough. This leads down one of the few original straights at Losail, which now leads into a double right hander to lead on the pit straight (a similar design to the final 2 turns at Bahrain). This could lead to a last minute dash up the inside on the 1st, tighter, right, and let the car flow through the 2nd, shallower, right (which is effectively an accelaration zone), and to the finish line. with a lap now at 3.1465 miles. Hope you enjoy.

Ok, this is a bit frustrating: I have just noticed that some (well, most) of my modifications to the circuit have been partly or entirely done by someone else. Anyhow, I'll talk you through a lap at my Losail.

The first hairpin has been opened up to create a fast sweeping first corner, which tightens up after a short straight. Now going the wrong way on the original track, we enter a technical section of the track which contains another right-hand corner, shortly followed by a very tight left-hander, which means drivers will have to brake all the way through Turn 3.

The left hairpin opens up to a sweeping straight, testing the car's traction as it has to accelerate and turn simultaneously. Back onto the original track we turn right again and eventually arrive at the tight left-hander, which has been moved further towards the paddock to allow for a sweeping left-right combination in which the g-forces will build up as the speeds increase.

A section similar to the first part of the lap now follows, with two right-handers, the second tighter than the first, immediately followed by an opening left-hander. We reach the final corner earlier than on the old lay-out, because it has been straightened out to boost the speeds reached on the main straight.

With the track lenght at just under 6 km, I'd say this track is now ready for F1!

Bangkok choice is F and for 2points.

I have purposely put a lot of subtle apexes in this track to keep the driving elite on their toes. Also given them a couple of good rests with long straights. It would be more exciting with undulations through the center of the circuit, rather than the flat desert it seems to have.
46 laps to complete a 305 km GP.
