There were threads about this before, but the discussion didn't fully end.

As bad as this may sound I think I would want GT games to have driving in the city especially the traffic. With real physics engine, and no arcadey stuff tolerance. It would need large cities, perhaps real ones. If i do it in real live then why not do it in a good nonarcade game. In some countries street racing is not racing in a straight line on an empty road, but seeing who is faster in traffic.

If we can drive like this in the game and love it even more.

And street racing is for W@NKERS, and deserves no place in GT!

Edit:
The drivers in that video deserve to have there hands and feet severed and there eyes ripped out :ouch:

1: Stop spreading pro-street racing propaganda. It isn't cool. It kills people.

2: Gran Turismo is about realism and all that, but it doesn't cater to illegal driving activities. Everything happens on a track or closed course. If you want traffic, there are plenty of watered-down arcade games that offer what you're looking for.

Sn00pie, can we get a lock? :ouch:

for me i'm not into that kind of racing. either keep it on a back road thats empty or the track where your not liable to kill anyone, or at least its much safer for you and others.

BUT if your really wanted that game there should be cops then. and GT jail and have the game suspend your driving liscence indefinitely. honestly, with that kind of idea for a GT series, you might as well just play NFSU or other games like that.

the only difference is they are not real, don't feel real and don't have a proper physics engine. And that's going to stop people doing it on the streets, because they can do it in the game. So, i am in no way propaganding it. There are always going to be games like that, what i want though is a game like that has PD's attention to detail, realism and a quality physics engine.

You think that an adrenaline- and gravity-free computer game is going to stop people going out and racing through the streets like c(lowns)?

How stupid are you?

Forget I asked, you street-race. In traffic. That more than answers the question.

That isn't street racing, thats two idiots racing through traffic trying to kill not only themselves but everyone around them. Real street racing is a much more organized event, and stuff like this gives it a horrible name.

I don't think that kind of racing would work in the next GT game.

However I'm all for more realism in games, espically driving games. So it would be nice if there was a "street racing" game of GT's quality, with damage.

I've seen that video before. Driving/Racing like in that video in real life is plain stupid.

Tell me this. If your doign a Legal race, or at JGTC. Would you want to be dogding traffic?

Racing would be alot more difficult if they filled the track with grandmas in tanks imo, might actually make watching stuff like nascar fun!

I think that the gran turismo name really represents the assorted types of track driving, not the reckless stuff as shown in the first post. Your traffic is the other racers, Your freeway is limited by the walls...

I think there should be a city with traffic, but not racing like these morons are doing. I would say crusing around in a city, espically on-line, where you can challenge a guy who's parked or riding around, but to a LEGAL, closed track or course. Or to just cruse to enjoy the drive. There was a PC game called Motor City Online, but it never caught on because of the steep fee you had to pay play online and it was online only.

I think the original posters idea would have been really fun as a game. Street racing is stupid in real life but fun of course till you die. So why not make it a game instead. Just because some one play First Person Shooters doesnt mean they are dumb enough to go kill ppl in real life. (of course unless you were born insane with chemical imbalances). The same goes for Street racing, if you have that bug to do street racing then you probably do it already.

Traffic in racing game = me pulling out hair.

I fricking hate ramming into obstacles that are unpredictable, and invisible as you go around a corner.

Hmmm, nailing the accelerator on a 600HP car through heavy traffic, I think not and all the traffic jams, go buy B3/NFSU2, they're brilliant for that stuff.

Thank you for understanding. If all people thought that negative about public issues like street racing, then there would be like 3 games in the world. Ban all shooting games, all fighting games, all mob games... the whole point of them is that they are games. Driving like that in traffic is irresponsible and dangerous. GT series doesn't have autocross, which is a huge part of amateur racing. Having a city with traffic would be no different then having an autocross course, but if i suggested autocross I wouldn't get any negative comments. So suggesting taking something that's inapropriate on the street and putting in in the 'game' doesn't make me a bad, irresponsible person. So please don't act like you are all angels. That was a suggestion that i believe would please a lot of people if it wasn't executed in such an arcadey fashion like NFS.

That is my biggest gripe with NFSU2. You'll be driving along doing really good, then all of a sudden some grandma pull out right in front of you and BAM you get stopped dead in your tracks, and in my experince once you hit the firt car you become a car magnet and anything moving swerves to hit you. After that the race is over you went from first with a big lead to last and doing to race over again. I got so pissed off when I had to do one race atleast 15 times, and they wheren't even hard oppenents I just kept getting hit all the time and thats rather annoying on a 3 lap 5min a lap race.

In short illegal "street racing" like those stupid russians where doing is for people who have a death wish, and it and traffic have no place in a GT game.

Traffic has no place in GT4 apart from on other roads around the track in the distance i.e. on the other highways and crossovers of SS5........(just like in Ridge Racer) where there are cars on other roads.......thats a nice background touch...

oh.......and p.s., that vid makes me want to kill somebody......scum of the earth

The big difference is that Gran Turismo represents professional racing. And driving 130mph on the freeway in traffic is not professional, by any definition of the word. Not to mention illegal, incredibly dangerous, and just plain stupid.

In short, that sort of thing doesn't belong in Gran Turismo. Go play NFSU if you want that kind of crap.

I guess if PD wanted to they could add the Auto-Bhan. I think that would be rather boring though considering it is basically a flat straight section of road. The only thing it would have going for it would be scenery and as some of you guys want, going really fast in traffic.
