transferring game profile ...

I don't know if the title does
this question justice, but here goes.

I have a family PS3 console that i
have achieved level 38 on, but
because I can't get on and race
when I want to, I've decided to
buy a console for my own personal use.

Question: is there a way to transfer
u'r game status from one machine to another ?

Or do I have to start from square one
on the new machine

Your game save is tied to your PSN account. You can transfer your save to any PS3 that has the same PSN account that is associated with your game save.

Copy your save to a USB, then move the USB to the new PS3, then copy from the USB to the PS3. The save must go to a PS3 account connected to the PSN that is associated with the save. Once all of that is done, you just continue playing.
