Transferring savegames on Xbox

I just got Xbox live and want to take my Forza 3 garage online. However, I still haven't found a way to transfer my savegame from my old (offline) user to my new gamertag. Can anybody help? Before you ask, I've tried Google.

saved games are tied into the gamertag as far as I know. If you were able to take your offline gamertag and make that live enabled you would be able to use those saves as long as that names not already taken.

I don't think this is possible because the savegame is locked to the account it was created with . You would have to upgrade your old account.
