Just from the trailers so far, I'm extremely interest in the score from this one. I'm a pretty good fan of the first, so I'm wondering if they hired Jablonsky & Zimmer again to work on it.

Yeah, it's Jablonsky and Zimmer again. Linkin Park are supposedly working with them as well, though I imagine it would be limited to a major theme like What I've Done in the original film (which is the only occasion Linkin Park have produced a song I liked).

3 new tv spots just came out:

When creating a summer blockbuster film with plenty of computer generated effects and characters, the amount of information stored is often an indicator of exactly how much cgi is to be included in the film, and to a lesser extent, the quality of the cgi in both detail and consistency with its interactions with any live action components.

Thanks to an article on worstpreviews.com, it is now known that the first Transformers film took up 15 terabytes of disk space on the Industrial Light and Magic servers, not a small amount by any stretch of the imagination. To put the amount of disk space used by the first film, a single terabyte is the equivalent of 1,048,576 megabytes.

However Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen not only eclipses the 15 terabyte mark set by the original, it completely dwarfs it, requiring a total of 140 terabytes of ILM disk space.

For those of us who would like to see our beloved characters as they originally were before being turned into...something else, sites are listing a re-release of the original Season 1 for $29.99 as a pre-order due out on June 16th. It appears that Hasbro has re-obtained the rights and are calling this the 25th Anniversary edition.

For those who have no clue what I am talking about when I talk about Transformers having socio-political subjects and respectable characterizations this is your chance to see why I am unhappy with what was done in the first movie.

I am glad to see that Hasbro at least is showing the old-school fans some respect.

You just made baby Jesus cry. Now Chuck Norris is coming to whoop your ass haha The new Linkin Park song for this movie is growing on me

What? It's the only occasion the band have produced a song that was anything resembling decent, and really only because of the way the chorus (and the volume) kick in just after Prime's closng monologue. At the very least, it was it was better than My Chemical Romance's cover of Desoltion Row for WATCHMEN. That made me want to throw up: one of the best songs ever being covered by one of the worst bands ever.

I agree with everything you just said.

Lincoln Park is Stabbing Westward dumbed down.

Uh-oh I'd talk Linkin Park up as they are my favorite band, but somehow I think my name will end up in a fail thread somewhere haha

I really can't wait for this movie to come out. I havn't seen any of the vids posted, mainly because of dial up death, but also because I want to be surprised when I see it. I've heard there is a lot more of Megan Fox in short shorts..... :D haha

Wow, You can get the whole G1 collection in a box set with collectors tin here in Australia for a few years now.

Wow, You can get the whole G1 collection in a box set with collectors tin here in Australia for a few years now.
We used to be able to, but Rhino, the distributor, lost the rights to another company who then went under, so they were in limbo in the US until Hasbro picked up all the Sunbow rights (we're getting G.I Joe too) last autumn and just now found a new distributor. In the US at this point finding just Season 1 in the collected set will run well over $100 new.

I am not sure what the quality of the version Australia has is like, but on the US version in an attempt to remaster them they wound up making a large amount of editing mistakes. The most notable is in the very first episode when the Decepticons are boarding the Ark. You see a scene where the Autobots prepare to defend their ship and Optimus tells them to not let the Decpticons on board. Then the scene repeats but when Optimus is talking you hear Megatron yell attack. They also screwed up some colors in certain episodes. It was so bad that even in their special features showing side-by-side images of original footage with the remastered footage you could see where they added mistakes.

These new DVDs are showing the original broadcast footage, which had its own editing mistakes, but a few things that the Rhino DVDs show were actually caught at the last minute before airing. So, in an odd way the non-remastered footage will be better.

So technically, there is really not much of point of getting the recently remastered stuff unless you don't have the original Season 1 episodes.

I will just state it clearly, as I think I may have mixed up my explanation.

The ones that are coming out in two weeks will likely be the more desired version for fans of the old show. It occurs to me that I am unsure if these new ones will be remastered in any way.

Here is the Wiki description of the issues found on the original DVD release.

If you do not have any version I definitely suggest getting the new ones due to both price (the old ones ran $40 or more) and getting the original broadcast masters. If you have the old ones, but found the issues to be annoying then these new ones are likely to be tempting as well.

Aside from different packaging (beware of upcoming second-hand errors/gimmicks) the best way to tell these apart is that the old ones are put out by Rhino and the new ones are being put out by Hasbro/Shout! Factory.

I should also add that there are rumors of a massive box set coming out later with all five seasons of G1.

Cheers for clearing that up. I just didn't expect other countries to not have the full G1 set. I will check my G1 episodes later for the mistakes as I don't remember that one from the first episode.

Different regions have different distributors, so what you have may be what these new ones for the US will be.

The camera-through-the-keyhole is very David Fincher-like. I'm thinkng of some of the shots in Panic Room (great film, by the way).

While I am increasingly getting excited for this movie, I already think that the tank-like-thing that is Megatron looks rather ridiculous.

A couple of early reviews from IGN and Total Film have been released, and the general consensus is tha it's good popcorn entertainment; unlike the other uber-robot film - TERMINATOR SALVATION - REVENGE OF THE FALLEN doesn't take itself too seriously. But there is one common complaint: there's too much of a good thing. IGN - love 'em or hate 'em - reckon Bay could have cut out forty minutes without affecting things too much. I felt the same way about the Final Fight in the first TRANSFORMERS film, but they do note that Bay has grown as a film-maker, commenting that everything is easier to follow in the fight sequences.

It's going to be damned difficult to get in to see this in my town, given that every single university student is going to be lined up to see it. Hopefully they'll work something like they did for KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL and run an advance screening with all the proceeds going to a local chraity.

So, has anyone seen it? and if so.... was it any good?

I'm dying to go, but I hate goin to see films as soon as they come out, because I can't sit in a packed theatre.

What's the verdict?

:irked:👍

It just came out yesterday in the UK only, so give 'em time. The rest of us have to wait til' Wed., though I may be getting a special preview on Monday. :)

Really? If thats true, I want in:sly:

Haha, my friends and I just spent an hour debating what would be better than REVENGE OF THE FALLEN. In the end we settled on playing ROCK BAND with Keira Knightley, Jessica Michibata and Megan Fox while naked and watching the 1986 TRANSFORMERS film.

God, we're nerds.

I bought Generation 1 Season 1 on DVD and intend to watch real Transformers instead.
