Nah, I think that was just a staging ground for them coming to Earth. But still...WHY does the story need to be changed? It was excellent from before. Stupid Michael Bay....

Wasn't this how the humans "stumbled" uppon the Transformers in the current TV show? I haven't been following it too well since the whole "Beast Wars" thing, maybe catching an episode here and there whenever possible...

No, Michael Bay's own blog says this has nothing at all to do with the storyline, but it was just a teaser they completely made up separately.

In other words, he thought it was a great idea to tease us with something that doesn't have anything to do with the movie. This is much like having a huge flat-nosed semi at Comicon that said the Transformers were coming 7-4-07.

So far everything that has been officially used to promote the movie has had NOTHING to do with the actual movie.

With this kind of genius you know that it will be a work of art. :sly:

Well, yeah. Just look at the modes they are using for the transformers. not using the original thoughts for the cars/jets, giving the robots a completely alien look AND above all else totally abandoning the great cartoon/comic storyline. How stupid is that mess?

Honestly I could accept this IF it weren't for the flames on the truck and the insect-like feet.

From what I have seen of this movie so far, and I have been paying close attention to all the fan sites, it will be called Transformers and feature robots that transform from humanoid robots to disguised forms, but it will not be THE Transformers as I know them.

I honestly was holding out some hope for this movie and avoiding any fanboy pre-viewing hatred but then my brother-in-law, who wants to be an actor and thinks Michael Bay is one of the best directors, said he thought the designs looked awesome and that this looked like it would be an incredible movie.

I bought The Transformers: The Movie 20th Anniversary Special Edition a few weeks back and it had a small preview of this movie. After seeing that (with no robot footage) it seems like every other Michael Bay film; lots of running and exploding with big car chases, but in the end you are left asking what the story was, or if Bay even understood the point.

Alas, growing up as a young kid that loved Transformers I will be there sometime in that first week to see this movie, risking having another one of my childhood memories ruined.

My only hope is that Peter Cullen has signed on to be Optimus Prime again and he sounds excited about the movie. Of course this is a man who wasn't aware of how popular Transformers were until 1996. He might just see his second biggest paycheck (Eyore is his biggest) returning to become his largest ever.
 
Like Foolkiller i could accept this if those stupid flames were not painted all over Optimus Prime. I can even accept the look of him in robot form, its when you see what OP looks like in "vehicle mode" that your childhood memories are ripped away........

im actually getting sick of how butchered this film is turning out to be, i guess MD never heard of the phrase "if it isn't broken don't fix it". A few subtle enhancements or using modern day representations of the original cars would in my opinion be a much better route to have used.

Im just stuck for words about this movie now and anything else i do say will probably violate the AUP and that is a great shame being an avid Transformers fan for many many years.

Those flames still give me the ****'s but at least I've manged to get the colour scheme a little closer to what it should be.

Still, it looks kind of Bionicle-like to me.

But, I am willing to remind myself that these are pre-renderings and artist drawings, not the final thing. I will save my final judgement until I see the movie - unless the trailer coming out December 22nd shows some decent bots footage and then I will make my judgement from that, but I'm not holding my breath.

Thank you! I've been trying to figure out what they remind me of for the longest time.

I REALLY wish they would've went first generation on this. The people that are going to flock to this are the 25-35 year olds that played with the transformers in the first place. Oh well...:indiff:

It is supposed to go in theaters this Friday (12/22) and then be available streaming all over the Internet Tuesdya (12/26), but for now it is exclusively Yahoo's.

Personally, it still looks like it will be a fun action movie where alien robots blow stuff up Michael Bay style, but it's still not looking like Transformers.

Final judgement will be reserved for when the movie comes out.

I believe Michael Bay plans to drag it out because Shia LeBouf has signed on for a trilogy. As it looks like the only competition they will have will be a week old Die Hard 4 :eek: this will probably do extremely well and convince the studio that a triology sounds perfect.
 
YUCK!!! It looks like invasion of the metal aliens or something.

I really can't believe they went that way with it. Oh well. :(

Argh... Die Hard 4?? (that's after revenge or whatever the last one was?)... let.. it... die... A trilogy? Argh... What is it with movies and all the damn 10th sequels these days!? Are they really that desperate? :dopey:

EDIT I almost forgot: JJ Abrams (Lost, Alias) is pushing to do a new Star Trek movie concept.

These are just off the top of my mind. I am sure a wee bit of research could reveal even more, and these are just the movies that are coming out in the future. I haven't even listed past movies.
