Transmission List

Does anyone have a list already done (or would like to make) of all the cars available in the game and their available transmission options? I have a G25 and want to keep the realism aspect of using auto/sequential/manual when necessary.

I was thinking exactly about a list like this yesterday, to add to the realism of this game. It's not tuning the transmission as those links suggest, it's knowing which cars use the H-shifter, which ones use the sequential shifter with the stick, which use the paddles and which are automatic, to play accordingly with the G25.
The cars with paddles should not be hard to identify, it's those in which the driver's hand does not move.
I assume every car with available clutch on GT5P uses it in real life, and since the clutch is only available with the H-shifter, cars with clutch use this transmission.
I don't know if there are cars with sequential shifter on the stick, but I recall the Amuse S2000, where the driver's hand moves but the H-shifter does not let us use 7th gear.
Lastly, I don't know if there is any exclusively automatic car in the GT5P car list. I know every car can be used as manual in the game, but is there any which in real life is only automatic? For example, the SL55 is an automatic car, but it has paddle shifters, so I wouldn't use it as auto.
Then I remembered, how about doing a driving aids list, stating which cars have which electronic aids in real life? That would be harder, but also it shouldn't be in this thread.

maybe...but good idea though!
was just thinking about this yesterday as I usually turn all aids off but the Nissan GT-R is famous for its handling and most of that comes from electronics and I also find it very hard to control with all aids off, so I think the GT-R at least needs ASM and maybe active steering on to drive like real.

I think active steering is an option created by the game, isn't it that option that takes away some force feedback during sharper corners? As for the GT-R, it handles wonderfully with no aids, or it used to, as it seems like it was a bit modified by the last update, and I didn't try it recently so I can't really say anything about it.

Most cars are pretty easy to figure out, but in some occasions it is not so clear cut and PD made some mis-matches, for example:

The Ford Mustang GT is a export model (going by some external details) which was sold in Japan as Auto only (conventional auto), for that reason the driver doesn't reach for the shifter on shifts (like the car was a paddle shift) but Mustangs don't paddles. Another thing is the car shifts like a manual and unlike a Auto would. So the Mustang is a little confusing, it really is more like a manual model, so I use the H pattern for it.

Another odd exception is the Nissan Skyline 350GT sedan (V36), the driver reaches for the shifter on shifts but the car shifts like an auto (conventional auto), and the auto V36 sedans do have paddles.

Otherwise you have at least two cars which are sequential in real life, the Blitz ER34 Drift cars and the Amuse S2000.

Another little list you could incorporate with the transmission list is cars that don't have ABS.

I agree, the GTR is great with no aids, in standard form I have noticed no difference in the GTR since the update, but I hear tuning is a little different.

Great 👍 If you or anyone else finds another exception against my basic theory (post 3), posting here will be useful.

As for driving aids, it wouldn't be only ABS, as many modern supercars have sophisticated systems like traction control or ASM.

by the way...where do you set ABS on/off in the game?
it does not show in my options menu...only ASM, TCS and the like.
No ABS.
(still dunno about the GT-R. have lots of trouble making it grip. my favorite car ist the Evo9. So nice to drive without any trouble. Then I thought maybe cause the GT-R is quite faster - and I bought a Z06. But even the Z06 drives like on rails compared to the GT-R. hmmm...)

No ABS.

You have to disable ABS in the Quick tune menu (unlocked after you complete events classes A, B, C), or because Arcade TT does not allow Quick tune you can disable it by using the real time adjustments.

ABS is on the quick-tuning menu, which is unlocked after you complete the A events. TCS is also adjustable here. ASM remains only on driving options. The Z06 drives like on rails compared to the GT-R? Are you using professional mode without aids?

oh ok...its in the unlockable menu. thanks :) I think I finish the A-class events today or tomorrow.
Yes I use professional mode (from start off. don't know how the other mode handles)and all AIDS off on the Corvette. Maybe I expected more from the GT-R because of all the hype. I was reading every car magazine in the last months that I could get my hands on and online. I just have to spend more time with the GT-R and need to be more careful with it than I thought I would have to be.
So...in the end, what do you think - as the real life GT-R relies on and uses so many computer controlled features and driving aids, should be at least ASM on in the game to simulate the cars handling as best as possible?

thanks for all your tips and replies so far! :)

Or you can re map buttons to take advantage of the real time adjustment.

You then have in car control of

TCS
ASM
Brake Bias
ABS
And power distribution (where applicable)

You can turn it off anytime with the real time adjustment, you dont need to unlock QTS then.

No because ASM doesn't simulate what the GTR does, ASM cuts power when you want it and makes the car awkward and slow, the real GTR does not do this at when setup in track mode. The way the GTR is with no aids in GT5P simulates it much better.

Actually, the GT-R has lots of electronic controls, including ASM, so it can be enabled if you feel the need (of course, no ASM is way more fun).

thanks a lot everyone!! :) All my questions are answered and a new one popped up. real time adjustment. have not seen that in the game yet...will it need to be unlocked also?
I will sit my a.. down and practive without all AIDS on all cars. :)

No need to unlock.
If you read my post above VIPERS.
You have to re map the buttons on the controller/wheel

As JASE72 said, you just need to remap the buttons to a controller. It is not mapped by default because it is designed for the new DF GT wheel (which it is mapped for that wheel).

I personally use a G25 and have real time adjustment mapped to a six axis controller.

remapped!
thanks!!!
I use my DFP from GT4. Works great. I mapped the real time
adjustments to the 4 buttons on the right side of the wheel.
works great. :)

I took time to make this list of the 71 cars and their realistic transmission option to play with the G25.

H = H-shifter
P = Sequential (paddles)
S = Sequential (stick)

I hope it helps. If anyone sees a mistake, post here and I'll edit the list. Perhaps it would be a good idea to put the list in a sticky thread (either a new one or an existing thread where it would fit)

I think the real-life F430 has paddle-shifting and a normal manual transmission, but the GT5P version can't have the clutch enabled and the driver's hands don't reach the stick, so it should be used with the paddles.

But the clutch can be enabled for the F430 in GT5P. I assumed it couldn't because its obviously got a paddle shift but someone else told me different so i tried it and it does work.

It does? Strange, I was 99% sure it didn't... Still, the hands don't move away from the wheel, so paddles might still be the ideal option for this car.
