Jeff doesn't have a market, nor is his store of crops at 0, he just isn't producing any per hour. In a few hours he'll have enough resources to build his crop farms and be back on track.
im steadily upgrading my fields, start to feel the income coming . i started last of 7 ppl in my area, now im 2nd [after some bleedin' german fella, who has already alliance with other germans]
your crop went down due to your iron mine. fields produce people that consume crops as well. your crop goes down as you build more population....it has nothing to do with the structures themselves. before you build something, check the population level that the construction brings. people are marked by the crop symbol with the X over it.

that's what i said.
structures bring people, they eat crop, the more structures you build the more crop is consumed. so, as almost all structures raise population, almost all of them use crop. it has a lot to do with the structures then.
You said that, but you forgot to include other resource fields. When you upgrade iron, wood, and clay resource fields, it increases your population, which decreases your crop productions.
