For the moment it's looking good for me. I started yesterday and now I have 3 corn fields and for the other resources 2 at level 1.
On my piece of the map there's only on with more villagers then me and the 2 villages directly next to me only have 3 villagers

Periods of rest usually shorter then sleep. Commonly done to refresh the body.

What's the difference between a "Raid" and a "Normal" Battle, other than the attacker losing more people in the Normal Battle in the simulator?

Why would I attack "Normally" rather than Raid?

Ps: Famine, normal attack is used if you go to war against somebody : Your soldiers will fight to the end; Raiding is just for the resources, so they your soldiers just invade the village, take what they can get, fight as little as possible and run away again.... :lol:

Yeah, I mean why not ? These travian games don't go forever ( 6 -12 months ) and playing 3 is not much more effort than playing one.... I'll register for sure...

An attacking force loses more men through a "normal" attack than a raid, and the defensive force loses less in a "normal" attack than a raid. So if you're "at war" and want to inflict more losses, a raid makes more sense than a "normal" attack...

Hmm... just the the combat simulator, and you seem to be right... I didn't take part in a real war yet in travian.org, so obviously... well I don't know..... :ouch: :)
 
Raid - some of your troops will always return unless you're outnumbered by 10,000.
Attack - they fight until one side has no troops left.
In either case those who return bring resources.

Use attack when you want to kill every defender. Use raid otherwise.

It depends on which race you're using. With Romans legionnaires, in some cases I was more effective doing a normal attack than a raid, at least against Teutonic clubswingers. Perhaps there was another variable I'm not aware of thought, but I had a better casualty ratio than with a raid.

Another Funny thing I've noticed too, while sitting a Gaul is when you attack with weak units, such as a Phalanx squad, you've got more chance to lose units raiding a smaller village than a bigger one, if there's no army to defend it.

Strange.
