Yeah it's cool to see him win a race, especially for a team like the Wood Brothers. You would hope he wouldn't be a one race wonder but you never know. Realistically, how many new sponsors could they possibly get now with a 500 win?

Hopefully he doesn't let the success get to his head. He'll need another season in the Nationwide series to develop. He probably be a full time Sprint Cup driver in 2-3 years.

He has had the talent for a while.. he won the pole I think when I went to the Nationwide race at Raceway Park here in Indy 2009. He did very well with Michael Waltrip Racing in the Nationwide but MWR didn't have anywhere for him to go. However, Jack Roush, Ford, and The Wood Brothers... did and look at him now!

Vandenal, you are correct except after this win... it might change. It all depends on sponsorship money that might come in. Also, for those who don't know, The Wood Brothers are getting help from the Roush Fenway guys in the chassis side and Roush/Yates on the motor side. Any sponsor deal is not out of the question (with the exception of alcohol deals, he is well under 21). I really hope he runs the whole year because that would be awesome! --- Randy

After today, I don't think sponsorship is going to be much of a problem for him.

This will be part of his legacy, no matter what else he does he will always be known as the 2011 winner of the Daytona 500.

I think people are over reacting a little here, sure, it's a big win, but Daytona is a bit of a lottery sometimes anyway, he could easially have been one of the 22 cautions. I will absolutely congratulate him on the win however. 👍

It was his 2nd start in the Sprint Cup, he'll probably run the part-time schedule in the 21, and have a ride with another team for the races that the Wood Bros. aren't participating in.

His name isnt "catchy" though. So you dont get that feeling he'll be around. He's like that one time appearance on Star Trek who's there just to get killed, that way none of the main characters have to die.

But on a serious note, he did do a good job staying out of trouble. Thinking ahead and backing off from tight gaps. He must have had a couple of really good spotters that told him when a gap was too tight to drive through.

Was this a talented win. Na, heck no. Anybody can win Daytona with some good luck and good car. Its like winning a lottery. Look at Michael Waltrip.

I'm still amazed, to be honest. It takes some skill to win at Daytona, and some luck, too. On the other hand, nearly everything else he does is going to be rather anti-climactic! For sure, he's marketable for the next few years, and will have no problem getting just about any open seat available in Nationwide or Sprint Cup.

The question nags me, however: Is he the next Jeff Gordon, Jaime McMurray, Derrick Cope; or is he real deal? That's why they race, I suppose...

...oh, and he won for the Wood Brothers, who haven't been relevant in the Cup for about 10 years. So a tip of the hat to Trevor Bayne.

Just read the news on Autosport. Quite an impressive win and a good way to announce yourself to the world.
