Have you actually checked the stats on each car? That should be a dead giveaway.

Depends on which Trueno...'83 or '98? The AE86 has about 125hp, and the SS Trueno has about 200hp.

Just buy them both and figure it out. Neither one is going to break your bank account.

Let me cut to the chase, The 83 Trueno/Levin is a bog standard AE86. The SS Trueno is supposed to be the car from Initial D, it has a different engine and upgraded suspension etc.

What is "Initial D"? ive heard alot of people talking about this in relation to cars but never knew what it was! :dunce:

Initial D is a Japanese anime that features the a character who drift races a AE 86 against other racing teams down mountain sides. I haven't seen much of it but it looks like quite a good anime actually. 👍

I guess you're the only one that doesn't know what Ini D is ;)
It's an anime series from Japan. It's about......Allthough I'm a real Initial D nut, i can't really explain......well....here I go....

Fujiwara Takumi helps his father who runs a tufu shop deliver tofu to the Akina Mountain Hotel every morning at 4AM. He did it every day since he was 13 (now he's 18 and has a driving licence) So theese 5 years while delivering the tofu he drove faster and faster improving his techniques (sp?). One night, while driving his 86 he defeated RedSuns Takahashi Keiuske, who was driving a 350 HP FD3S. Everybody was amazed and alonmg the series he continues to be challenged by stronger and stronger opponents ( R32, FC, EVO4 and so on....) but always manages to win. After high school graeduation he joins Project-D, which is a professional touge racing team, managed by the amazing star Takahashi Ryouske (white FC). They only have battles in other places than Akina, leaving their records undefeated and thus creating a legend :)

Wel, that'd be the short story of about 50 episodes and 2 movies......

Hope it helps.
You can always type Initial d in google and find something better......

Take care :)

Heeey hold on... you mean all this time I've been thinking that this Initial D was some super talented travelling drifting circus group or something, like drifting's equivalent of the Harlem Globetrotters, and it's just a cartoon???????

i'm afraid so

There's a brand new movie Initial D Live or something like that, with the real cars and so on......but....it's in japanese :(:(

Don't feel bad. I had to ask the same question about a week ago

So does Initial-D come in english, or do I need to learn japanese to understand it?

Initial D is in Japanese but can be found subtitled in English on DVD. Don't buy the TokyoPop crap that's robbing people out of their cash.
Try this for a start http://www.discountanimedvd.com/detail.asp?dvdno=1676&cateName=Initial+D .
Inital D the movie was shown in theaters last month, not in the U.S. of course. I found it a little dissapointing because it didn't exactly follow the series completely. The characters also had changed some, i.e. like Bunta was now a drunk and beat down Takumi. The driving in the movie is all real (well, there is a little CG for the crashes, which is obvious) and done by stunt drivers so that gives a major plus on realism. For info and reviews of the movie check this http://imdb.com/title/tt0439630/. I love the anime, and if anyone is a car nut they'll enjoy the series, I find interesting when they talk of racing strategy and car tech.

it follows the manga not the anime so it is actually the "correct" storyline ;)

the 'real life' initial D movie was made by hongkong, not japan.
but all the drifting was filmed in the real locations in japan, e.g akina.

Yes.....sadly.....watched it the other day and, if you like Initial D anime, you'll probably be a bit dissapointed......I was expecting something closer to the anime.....Like Itsuki is the son of the manager from the gas station and drives a S13 ??? Crashes it and then buys a AE86?? No, not AE85 but 86......and Bunta is a drunk after his wife left.....man.....watching it was a bit depressing :(

The sound of the 86 and 32 make it well worth watching 👍👍
