From what I gather, am I correct in saying that in terms of power:
Turbo Charger > Super Charger > NA

...and in terms of response time:
NA > Super Charger > Turbo Charger

i myself prefeer NA engines over turbo'd engines purely for the fact that with NA engines they provide a stable line of power all the way through the powerband instead of turbo'd engines where the power comes in from a certain rev point(tso annoying when in a corner and need the power) oh and also i've gotten on the sound of a dump valve fro a big turbo
 
What happens, say in a Holden- when you put in both supercharger and NA tuning, how good does that make it?
 
It seems everyone posting thus far has neglected to consider the effects of the remainder of the drivetrain. Doing so should render the issue academic, there is no turbo lag if you stay on powerband. Aside from the comparitively nominal return provided by the tuned exhaust header that is part of a N/A package, the turbine utilizes a vastiy larger proportion of the energy that is otherwise expelled out the tailpipe. Properly built turboed engines feature LOWERED compression and REVERSE domed pistons to compensate for the additional loads. They will ALWAYS produce more (more means better) power than thier N/A cousins. The question is whether you can arrange yourself in such a way that you are on throttle, on powerband coming out of every corner and everyone knows the shortest distance between two corners is...
So, if you cannot set your gears up to stay in the powerband then you might have to consider other options from the stage 4. There is an expression: you must always be wfo or full brakes, anything else is just coasting.

I'm pretty sure someone did it. Why not buy a Holden and check it out. (I'm talking about GT4, nothing to do with real life)
 
I have both turbo and NA cars in GT4 and real life and my personal preference is for NA, saying that I like to take a turbo car out for a good thrashing every now and then.

I have a 760Turbo Volvo and a 325 BMW, they both make around the same power, the Volvo is easier to drive around town as it seems to have more low down grunt (it is also geared lower) the BMW on the other hand reins supreme when throwing it through some twisty bits on the open road, nothing like the sweet sound of a singing BMW six and the instant throttle response :)


With regards to the 1.5l BMW F1 motors putting out 1300 odd hp still beating the high tech 3.0 motors of todays F1, don't forget that those turbo motors would barely make a race and didn't actually race with 1300hp, that was for qualifying they raced with more like 900-1000hp, also they were running around 5 BAR boost, which basically is 5 times the air that a same sized NA engine is gulping, so that is roughly the same as a 6.0l NA engines air requirement :scared:

I like NA more for the power band and for responsiveness.
As for supercharger vs NA, Power wise (in game at least) NA3 has at least as much power (often more) than the supercharger. The supercharger Has more power in the lower revs but the boost trails off in higher revs. At least that's what it says in the game's description. I don't really have any real life knowledge about supercharger power dynamics.
 
id say that a turbo is better because its in the straights that i manage to take over most of my opponants in GT4. N/A doesn't put as much power to the tarmac as the turbo on the straights

There is no difference, if you take a car with a NA motor with Xhp and then replace it with a Turbo motor with the same hp they will go the same speed down the straight all things being equal.

Turbo or NA is doesn't change the efficiency of the drivetrain of the car.

To Be Fair Shorti was most at fault, but tune dint need to lose it,

& My Opinion, Na & Turbo, To Be Fair On the Midfield Straightway, and hearing my turbo, kick in, is glorious, but also, the awesomely Creative Power From An Naturally Apsirated Engine is also Amazing, Instead of focusing on which is better focus on the strengths then apply that to the track you need,
