From my experience, RWD cars have less tyre wear than FWD. It depends also on the car, circuit, set-up, driving style, etc. But, what do you think? Which cars have less tyre wear?

At what end of the car?

An FF uses it's rear tyres to keep the rear end from dragging along the road and so doesn't wear its rear tyres much.

An FR/MR/RR uses its fronts for braking and turning, but not power transmission, and so doesn't wear them as much as an FF does.

At what end of the car?

I think for all FR/MR/RR. Maybe the tyre wear is similar for RR, I'm not sure, but the reason for higher tyre wear in FF has to be what you pointed 👍

in an FF the front wheels not only have to turn but also are transferring power at the same time, resulting in loss of grip/traction/tires, FRs have the rear wheels to power them and the front only has to turn, it's that simple

If it was an option, to save time or something if I was racing an FF, I think 3/4 of my stops would only change the front tyres.. unless I had alot (or in most cases, all) of my brake bias at the back (Usually a thing I do to relieve some of the pressure on the front.)

Would it be fair to say, that in theory, 4 Wheel-drive cars with a rear engine (Porsche 911 4S or whatever[Yes, I know this car isn't in the game]) would show the most consistent, most even tyre wear? Extra weight on the back adding stress vs. front wheels turning, thus adding stress.

Edit: I'd say FR is the best for tyre wear, as FF's get a TON of stress on the fronts. And if the tyres that you steer with are doing horrible, your ability to turn will drop drastically, in addition to the fact that high-speed turns in FF's are hard without a bunch of differential trickery...

Good theory, go hop in the RUF CTR2 and test this out, I recall its the only RAWD car in gt5

FF's are worst for tyre wear generally on the fronts only, Rear wheel drive burn out teh rears and fronts when they do go...

There is another thing that prevents the tyre wear (at least for FF cars); the difference between front and rear height. If the front is higher than the rear, the car will have much less tyre wear, even rear tyres can be more wear than front tires if the different is quite big (30-40). Did you know it? do you know why?

PD: You can try it in Focus ST'06

In Legend of the Streets touge league, the FF front tyres goes like crazy. And with proper tuning and driving style, you can get RWDs to wear out the tyres evenly.

FF = Understeer. Too rough driving results in loads of pressure on the front tyres, while the rear do nothing.

FR = Oversteer. Too rough driving results in the rear stepping out and smoking the tyres resulting in the rear tyres going against the driving direction. This one also puts pressure on the front while braking, and with the engine.

100-0 or 30-70. Your choice.
