BLEAHHH!
:yuck:
Why on Earth would anybody want that... thing... when for the same money you could build a SHOgun? Something you might actually have fun driving, without being afraid of every manhole cover and speedbump? I hate trailer queens.

[edit] BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Check out the top picture of the POS Civic - look inside at the windhield! Totally opaque from all the glare off that painted dashboard! What a friggin idiot - NEWS AT TEN - they make dashboards a dark color for a reason! [/edit]

Yea, that Civic is just one of the millions of ugly cars people think are both fast and cool, when they are niether. Who in their right mind would do all of the crap to any car, much less a Civic. Uhgly!
I bet it started life as a Civic DX.
And the plate on the back, what class. I'm sure the driver doesn't mind losing any races, why would he be driving something that hidious and obviously slow?

Neon, that's a cool Mazda 121, I mean Ford Festiva. :)

Hey, what is that?
It looks pretty cool, kinda reminds me of our Fiesta RS Turbo.

As for that Civic, well i'd say Klos has hit the nail on the head.

I can't wait for Punkrock to see this, maybe he can show these people how a Civic should look.

If memory serves, that thing was running a Taurus SHO V6 where the rear seat should live - an Amercian V6 Clio, if you will.

Small car, MR, has a big engine for it's proportions and doesn't look too pretty.

I love it!

But wouldn't that imply some sort of special handling or overall quality? The Festiva surely lacks...

Hence the "American" qualifier.

Before the howls of protests begin, I would submit the Ford Explorer and the US built versions of the Mazda Tribute/Ford Escape as evidence.

Consider this a howl of protest!!

My parents stacked the '03 Tribute up against every other SUV on the market: No-one offered as much for so cheaply. They got CD, leather, keyless entry, a tow package (which my dad wasn't thrilled about), cargo cover, split-fold seats, tint, a 200-horsepower V6, and air-con for $23,300 - Toyota charges exactly $10,000 more. Even the Escape (its TWIN!!) was more expensive.

Yeah - but how many recalls have they had? Which is what I was getting at.

Reminds me of when Ford Australia brought the Taurus out here, to gauge local opinion of it (they were considering switching the Falcon to front drive). Australians were pretty impressed that Ford US were worse at building cars than we were.

Five, but they involved less than 25,000 Tributes and Escapes manufactured only between April and November, 2000, and there hasn't been a recall since - it's certainly not as bad as the Explorer.

The first recall involved a minor flaw in the cruise control cable which may, by some stretch of the imagination, result in a stuck pedal, which may result in a crash. The second affected non-ABS 4x2 vehicles which may have been fitted with the wrong rear-wheel hub, the third involved a loose connection in the fuel line which may result in an unwanted odor.

The fourth was very stupid - several owners' manuals were missing some pages and didn't indicate where child seats should be placed. This, of course, was in violation with a federal law and Mazda rectified the problem. The final was to rectify a possible broken hinge in the windshield wiper.

Doug, don't forget some off of the first run with unproperly fitted lifters that would come loose and cause havoc with sometimes less than 200 miles on the car.

But it's all fixed now, and the Tribute is a respectable small SUV.

Ohh, and nice with the Kia Pride comment. I could ban you. But I'd never do that. But I could.

J/K. Now I'm going to look like a reckless moderator.

Too bad that the 121 didn't make it to the US in Mazda form. I just realized that I have the slowest Mazda for '88. :D

I got all five recalls, and there haven't been any voluntaries. Are you thinking of the first one I mentioned? It affected the first Tributes/Escapes, but only 606 of them.

In my opinion, the best, but voicing my opinion in the car forum is probably a violation of a not-yet-created rule that will eventually get me banned.

Wait - you're telling me that this:

...and this:

...were made at the same time!? Ah - I hate to say it, but I think the Festiva looks newer!

You're ****ing stupid. No, wait, you're a kid, nevermind. It's normal for 13 year olds to find these things cool.
