Mindless rage. He didn't have a reason like Zidane (though that's debatable), it was just a lapse of self-control, which somehow didn't cause Chelsea to miss out. Not much of a role model for his peers and younger generations watching at home 👎

So the groups then.

Group A
Porto
Dynamo Kyiv
PSG
Dinamo Zagreb

Group B
Arsenal
Schalke
Olympiacos
Montpellier

Group C
Milan
Zenit
Anderlecht
Malaga

Group D
Real Madrid
Man. City
Ajax
Dortmund

Group E
Chelsea
Shakhtar Donetsk
Juventus
Nordsjaelland

Group F
Bayern
Valencia
LOSC
BATE

Group G
Barcelona
Benfica
Spartak Moskva
Celtic

Group H
Man. United
Braga
Galatasaray
CFR Cluj

Loving the look of Group D! Manchester City are going to want to improve drastically on early season form to progress. United surely can't be knocked out of that group...

Almost the worst possible result for Man City, they could have got Juventus or PSG instead of Ajax, but this year might see them not make it out again. Arsenal don't have it too bad, they should win that group, though going by the start if the season they need to learn to score again soon! Chelsea just have Juventus to worry about mainly, but still should qualify. Man United should also win their group. Celtic, maybe europa league at best. Glad it's back again.

We were in a 'supposedly easy' group last year when we got knocked out!, so im not getting complacent!

Another tough group for city!!!:ouch::lol:

Group A looks the weakest of the lot. Porto and PSG will get through that one.

Group B looks semi good, Arsenal will get through, Schalke probably won't be able to hold off Montpellier to be honest. Also, Giroud against his old club!

Group C looks like a good one, Milan will get through, Malaga could scrape through ahead of Zenit.

Group D is absolute hell, and that's great for me because Man City stand a chance of not making it! Real Madrid will be group winners, but Man City will have their doubts being put against the Dutch and German champions as well. Incidentally, 4 champions in that group.

Group E looks like a strong one, Chelsea and Juventus should be going through but if they cancel each other out well enough Donetsk might be able to creep in ahead of one of them. Poor Nordsjaelland are going to be blown away.

Group F looks fairly nasty overall, but I don't expect too much else than a Bayern-Valencia 1-2. Lille might well challenge Valencia though.

Group G seems OK but Barca will walk it. Might end up getting the full 18 points from that. Benfica have some class actually but Spartak are far more of a threat than most give them credit for, trust me. Celtic might be able to make something of a splash but they aren't making it out. Also, McGeady against his former club...

Group H, as a Man U fan I couldn't have asked for much better. Three relatively weak teams that we should be able to brush aside. Probably will end up with 16 points. I say that of course when last year we had a Portuguese and Romanian team in the groups too...course Galatasaray are the odd one out but, y'know.

Group D looks very tasty indeed...

Celtic will be delighted with the Barcelona draw... I doubt they will make it through, but Celtic fans will be over the moon at getting to go to the Camp Nou.

Being a Celtic fan, I can pretty much guarantee we're screwed.

Will be nice to face Barca again, though. If we get more than 5 points im happy

As a United fan, I am very pleased. We have what seems to be a very easy group. Although Sir Alex has to make sure he doesn't make the same mistake as last year like putting a weak team out.

Tricky group, tricky group indeed. I suppose Chelsea are just fortunate to be there though.

Can't see City getting through.

Im very pleased with the group United got.

But as last year, being easy opposition on paper doesn't mean that it will be a walkover.

And group D will be interesting to follow. Hope Ajax and Dortmund goes through, but I think Real and Dortmund will make it.

So much tastiness for Group D 👍 Although, with the embarrassment of talent City have now, if they dont beat Real at least once, it will somewhat support the theory that its a team of superstars and not a superstar team...

All this Negativity.

I don't buy it. At all.

Helsingborgs and Helsinki are teams which would have handed the Strachan team absolute drubbings. And guess what? We beat em.

This Strachan team will also be the team which managed to dispose of both Spartak and Benfica.

Celtic could scrape through.

BELIEVE.

Poor, Poor Ajax.... Getting put in the Group of "D"oom! I'm a bit pessamistic, but atleast I'm going to try and get tickets to see the home matches! :)

Chelsea start this campaign the way they ended their last campaign, hanging on by the skin of their teeth. EDIT : Or not.

Nice stadium btw.

Nice goal by Falcao as always.

EDIT: And he strikes again. 2-0 Althletico.

So then, anyone think Chelsea will retain this ?
No, Madrid are all over them, Falcao has had 4 goal scoring chances and there have been many more attacks and many Champions League opponents are better than Atletico. Losing Drogba has hurt Chelsea in Europe going by this match.

EDIT: And Falcao gets his hatrick.

Looking forward to the start of this season Champions League tonight!..i think its one of the best football competitions!..second only to the world cup..IMO..

Real Madrid v Man City is easily the pick of the bunch of the opening group games!, that should be a cracker!!

You would have thought that the Man City defence would have seen how good Marcello is with his long shots twice in the game already. Why the hell didn't they close him down!!!

Never the less it's shaping up to be an exciting last 15 minutes!

Edit: Oh my days KOLAROV!!!!!!

Edit 2: Oh my days BENZEMA!!!!!!

Edit 3: Oh my days RONALDO!!!!!!

Watching football as a neutral is so much better, that second half was epic.

All the goals came in the last 25 mins!!!!

What a game!...im a united fan so i dont feel sorry for city in the slightest!!!

Nice turnaround for Real, hopefully this will kickstart their season or at least get rid of any hints of lethargy in the camp.

Nice results for the Gunners too :D. Pity Giroud is still on a 0 for the season but Podolski is looking sharp.

What a game at the Bernebau. What a game.

I watched the game with my old man, a big United fan, and he lept off the sofa and jumped up and down in delight when Ronnie stroked it home.

I thought Madrid would be cursing themselves for squandering good possession, wasting chances and too many helium balls, but throwing away a 2-1 lead inside 3 minutes, five minutes from the end? Must suck to be City right now.

Was such a great game..all the goals came in the last 20 mins!!

A big game for us v Galatasaray tonight..as i think we need a big 3-0 or 4-0 win to show that what happened last year was a one-off!!

but it could be tough as Gala have got some good players like Eboue, Cris, Felipe Melo and Elmander!...

All I have to say about the City game last night is: :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Anyway, onto United's match tonight. I'm just hoping that Sir Alex doesn't make the same mistake as he does every year and put out a weak side.

He's already said he won't be making that mistake again. That's why RVP, Evra and Kagawa were rested at the weekend. Looking forward to this match tonight and then Liverpool on Super Sunday

Sounds good. I'm hoping for a good match here and likewise with Chelsea facing Juventus. Both will be entertaining matches.
