Looks like Juve have made a few changes tonight...

Of course it matters where Nani was looking. There are 2 reasons Nani shouldn't have been given a red card, and this is according to FIFA's rules. Firstly the rules differentiate between reckless play and excessive force, raising your boot to control a ball coming over your shoulder is not excessive, it's what you do to control the ball as it comes over your shoulder in front of you. According to FIFA that would make Nani's challenge reckless but not excessive, that would be a yellow card then, not a red. Secondly the rules are specific about being applied when challenging another player for the ball, if Nani is just trying to control the ball he isn't challenging Arbeloa for it, again no red card.

I can see why the red was given but that doesn't prevent it from being in error and proving to become the deciding factor in one of the biggest games of the season. That's what makes it do frustrating, if we lost 2-0 because Real battered us that would be fair, it's just bitter to take when the ref improperly sends a player off like that

Not quite. If it is reckless play that endangers another player (which it was), then it's a Red.

The Red for Nani was harsh, but justified. I would imagine most United supporters would be agreeing with me had it been a Madrid player.

Juve 3 goals up...
Celtic have never won in Italy...
Juve haven't lost at home for 3 years...

...what are we waiting for?

Meanwhile, PSG are drawing Valencia 1-1. If scores end like that, PSG will get through to the quarter-finals.

Incredible season, unbelievable achievement for my bhoys. We fought till the death.

Until next season, We've found where we belong. 👍

And it does end that way also Juventus beat Celtic 2-0 on the night to win 5-0 on aggregate. So the teams through to the Quarter finals are:

Real Madrid
BVB
PSG
Juventus.

This is looking like a fantastic Champions League for sure.

What Nani did was reckless. There was no intent to cause harm but he went in, airborne, cleats up and made contact on Arbeloa's stomach/chest area. It is like when a player attempts a tackle but goes in cleats up and makes contact to the other player's shin, straight red. Especially in the highest form of the sport in the CL, moments like that don't allow a free pass. I hate to say it because I wished he had not been sent off, but that's footy for you. Like I said, had it been a player who was notorious for dirty play everyone would be screaming for the red. Nani isn't a dirty player and the sending off changed the game entirely seeing Man U getting knocked out. Doesn't matter if he was tracking the ball with his eyes or not. What matters is he went studs up and made high contact. If no one was around it wouldn't be anything but Arbeloa was. I wished it were a yellow, I wished Arbeloa didn't make it more than what it was. Nani has done that high ball stop since he was at Sporting, for national team and obviously for Man United. This time he made bad contact and the ref made the right choice. This foul is on par with 2 players going airborne for a ball with one of them elbows high up and making contact to the face, straight red.
And I fully agree with Mourinho that the better team lost because I thought Real Madrid was going to concede another goal. But that's football for you.

Related to today's matches, I knew Celtic faced a huge uphill battle but it sucks they got knocked out. Thought they played better than juve in the first leg.
PSG I wanted knocked out as well but Valencia goes home. Please, whoever faces PSG next round, kick them down and knock em out!!

Can't wait until next week. Milan can knock off Barcelona and I hope my Porto finishes off Malaga.

Its shaping up to be a fantastic latter stages of the tournament...

Changing my user-title hurt. :( Miss my 'CL' and little star..

We are three and a half hours away from Barcelona - Milan. My predictions: Barcelona will score at least a goal. But so will Milan. And then, Barcelona will have to score three more goals in order to advance to the next stage.

So, Barça is out of the Champions League.

Going to be a very interesting game tonight...also, big blow for Arsenal with Jack Wilshire out for three weeks..makes tomorrows task so much harder for them!

I'm expecting Barca t go back to their more advanced way of playing and push up the field more as they need the goals. There has been talk about their change in style where they seem to be sat deeper than they were a year ago.

If this happens which it obviously should then I can see Barca going through, I hope this doesn't happen.

Surprised people are writing Barca off, if any team can turn things around it's them.

Prediction 3-0 Barca

I can't see Milan seeing much of the ball tonight which is usually the case for any team playing them I know, but this is different circumstances.

D day!
What's funny is no one is even mentioning the other game on any website or media outlet. It is all on milan x barca

Guess everybody is expecting to see "Farsa" losing... @ home... in front of its people.... :dopey:

Still, the other games are pretty big, too... I really like Malaga, but I think Porto has the advantage...

Never going to understand why some people call it "Farsa". Guess some can dislike it, and so "crapcelona" may be a better term, but they are certainly no farse. Second biggest club in Spain, only behind Real Madrid.

I won't spoil it but I am going to a big Catalan bar in my area. Let's just say that Barcelona getting knocked out will lead me to take pics over something epic my Milan fan friend told me he is planning to do, and if it happens I will post pics here

Imagine if Milan pinch a goal 2 minutes in. That'd mean Barcelona need FOUR goal. Seeing them fight to get that against a side like Milan will be a great thing to watch.

All I want to know is, who is the genius behind putting the Gazprom advert on at the end of every ad break, only to be followed by the Gazprom-sponsored Champions League titles? :irked:

Looking forward to a good game... although I think Milan will qualify...
