I think someone told Ronaldo to drop the act a bit. He seems calmer and less of an attention whore today.

But the whole Portuguese team continues to be unispired and predictable. Just one or two good attemps. And this against a completely dead Austria.

New Ronaldo stat!

35 free kicks on EC's and WC's.

0 goals!

Edit.

Ronaldo doesn't have that fire in his game. He isn't chasing the ball at all. I think the season might have been a bit too long for him.

Edit 2.

36 free kicks!

Edit 3.

The ref is a whistle jockey.

Portugal needs to stop relying on Ronaldo taking everything for them. Let someone else take the penalties and free-kicks.

Will he blame Austria this time - and refuse to change shirts again?

He going to swap shirts with the linesman. His goal just got cancelled for being offside. :lol:

Well. That's another bleh game.

0-0. Both were awful in the box.

He changed shirts with Gunnarsson in the end.....
All I saw was the on-pitch refusal. Did this happen off-camera or in the tunnel or something?

So, final round of first-round matches start tomorrow. We likely won't know who the highest-ranked 3rd place teams are until after the final whistle in the Group E games but the permutations look like this:

If the top four third place teams are from groups
ABCD
They will play the top ranked teams from these groups respectively
CDAB

ABCD -> CDAB
ABCE -> BCAD
ABCF -> BCAD
ABDE -> BCAD
ABDF -> BCAD
ABEF -> BCAD
ACDE -> CABD
ACDF -> CABD
ACEF -> BADC
ADEF -> BADC
BCDE -> CABD
BCDF -> CABD
BCEF -> CBAD
BDEF -> CBAD
CDEF -> ABDC

Clear? :lol:

France draw 0-0 with Switzerland in what could be the most boring match of the tournament.

Albania win their match 1-0 to gain the 3rd place.

France and Switzerland go through to the knockout stages.

Chose the wrong game to watch tonight. Feh.

Albania can at least leave this tournament with some pride even of they fail to reach the knock-out phase.

This was the most boring day in sport in a long time. I didn't think anything could be as bad as Baku - How I was wrong.

Albania were celebrating like they were first in their group. :D

Felt happy for them, I must say. They played well and should be proud.

Reports saying that Roy Hodgson will make six changes for the Slovakia game tomorrow night, one of them being Rooney being rested, big gamble, England need to avoid defeat to go through...

Big night tonight....
Yeh, though my liver is begging for mercy so I'll be watching both games at home tonight... a Wales win and an England draw would be a great outcome for Wales, but I reckon that England will have the measure of Slovakia. I am hoping for a strong Wales performance and a top 2 finish for them - Russia have been pretty poor, but they did at least show some tenacity towards the end of both games, so I wouldn't underestimate them for a moment.

Going to be dramatic for sure, If England and Wales both win they will be 1st and 2nd and through but if they don't then that's when things get a little anxious....

If I'm not mistaken, a Slovakia loss clinches progress for the teams on 4 points that cannot finish worse than 3rd in their group, ie Poland, Germany, Hungary and Croatia.

Would like to see Slovakia win regardless.

With the current scores, who is in and who is out?
Wales top, England second and Slovakia probably through in 3rd and Albania looking less certain.

I'm having a dilemma here. If England win the group or finish 3rd our last 16 game will be at the weekend but 2nd and it will be Monday. However I'm working Saturday and Sunday night so as it stands it will be beer o'clock Monday.

Alas, it was not to be. But I imagine it only delayed the inevitable, as a Germany win against Northern Ireland will send the Central European contingent (that now includes Slovakia) through tomorrow.
