Don't check the thread on air date until after you've seen the episode if you don't like spoilers. Pre-air spoilers are always spoilered.

Did laugh a lot this episode to be sure. And AMAZING lap! Lift-off oversteer for the win!
Joke M8 ;)

Anyone notice the mugs on the table during the news segment? I reckon that trend will continue for a while.

"If I'm gonna lose, I want to lose slowly." ~ Daniel Ricciardo, Formula 1 Driver

One word sums that episode up, fantastic. Best episode in years. I honestly thought they'd over do it, but they managed to strike a perfect balance between scripted comical and pure comical.

Top Gear is definitely back to it's old ways.

Dan's lap around the TGTT was amazing, considering he wasn't focussing that much. The interview, had me in stitches, especially the question by a Lewis Hamilton fan that resulted in Dan flipping the bird.

If they keep this up, they will easily make this the best season yet.

That was brilliant "what does The back of Lewis Hamiltons car look like "

Pros

Interesting challenge
On the whole, rather entertaining
Far less contrived than usual
Why does a hearse need the V6 Cosworth? Because.
They brought back points for challenges

Cons

The one challenge was 5/6ths of the episode
A few toilet humour jokes. They're just lame.
SIARPC - Even if it's an F1 driver, I'm just not interested. They always break a previous record. F1 driver or not, that Liana is not 4 seconds quicker than a regular driver.

Trivial Gripes

Not your budgeted CCC
With the challenges, they cut from "this is what I bought" to "this is it modified". I liked it when they sometimes showed the actual process of modifying the vehicles; it can be really great.

---

On the whole, a good episode. 77/100.

I cried laughing a few times this episode, was it damn stupid? yes, was it damn good fun? hell yeah.

Did anyone notice they now have Chilean mug? Previously it was Chilean badge. Whats next, Chilean shirt?

Yeah noticed it as soon as they did the news, I love the Subtle Trolling.

Pros

All hearses have MASSIVE engines. I didn't even think it was a well kept secret any more that the Fords everyone uses in the UK are amazingly fast considering how slowly they usually go.

Anyway, that entire episode was crap. I'd just like for them to learn that if any one of them was any good at acting, they'd be in Downton Abbey - or at least Doctor Who. They simply cannot carry it off, now more than they ever couldn't.

Colour me surprised but this isn't something I had ever thought about. To be honest though, I've never seen a Ford hearse; I've only ever known Mercedes-Benz and Daimler hearses.

Completely agree with you and would back this to the hills and back... but I did get some enjoyment out of this episode compared to the many, many, many poor episodes of the last six years or so.

They had a framed photo of Alexis sanchez the previous episode.

also @Famine must be fun at Top Gear parties.

The general rule is that they're specialised limousines. This means a big, wafty engine in the nose and an automatic gearbox, so they can crawl along at a literal walking pace in complete serenity. With a byproduct of absolutely shovelling if prompted.

With the Ford Grandad and Scorpio, there was nothing available to put in the front to fit the bill other than the 2.9 Cologne and by the time the Scorpio showed up they'd binned the OHV models and it was only made as the 24v Cosworth.

Many more modern ones use a diesel engine, because torque.

Where I live there is a few Mercedes C Class hearses and a few Ford Falcon hearses too

Do agree with this. Can't say this episode was better for me than the previous two this season, but I thought those were pretty darn good, so I'm not saying this was a bad episode by any stretch. But I don't like it when most of an episode is just one thing. If you're going to do that, make a special. If it's not worth a special, then cut it down and add more stuff. At least they made time for the news this week. Maybe my head's been in the sand, but I hadn't yet heard about the 488. Sometimes the news isn't just funny, it's actually news! And the potty/penis humor makes me laugh, too, but afterwards I wish they'd actually been clever instead.

Did anyone else notice Hammond's incredibly baggy eyes in the news segment?

-> This has got to be the best challenge yet! Can't stop laughing!!!

-> Too bad it ate most of the episode (again), with no new car road test 2 weeks in a row. :indiff:

This will be rectified this week.

BMW i8 and M3/4 roadtests.
Mercedes AMG GT roadtest.
Land Rover Defender tribute.
Margot Robbie and Will Smith in the Astra.

Excellent.

Mercedes AMG GT roadtest.

Interesting.

Land Rover Defender tribute.

But Scriptchard is doing it, no doubt because he's the "yokel".

Margot Robbie and Will Smith in the Astra.

Don't care. Never even heard of the first person.

Given how debate in our Cool Wall has been going, I'll be interested to know what they make of the BMW i8.

Wow Margot Robbie on the show, she is stunning!

Are there 2 guests in the same episode? (because of suicide squad?)

^ Maybe so, but this isn't the first time TG did.

There are and Suicide Squad was my first connection between them as well... But they will focus on a different film... See what I did there? Not heard of it either? No? Anyone? It's called Focus.

Looking forward to getting back to 'normal' TG tonight..

How do you know when it's time to make a cup of tea?

Because it's time to put a star in their reasonably priced car!
