New avatar from TG, it was irrestible.

I think I want to buy a Jaguar XF, but that may be for another thread...

What a lovely way to close the series, a genuinely good episode through and through! Oh, and I totally agree with Clarkson on the Mercedes: Its only awesome because its "Bat F'ing S" crazy, and the fact that it WILL kill you makes it all that much better.

XF's been around for a while....

Funny guy. There's a pretty big difference to the way the two cars look, which explains why that looks crap and the XF doesn't.

i know i am

move the headlight curve to the end,use tracing paper for the grill and take out the bonnet curves and gills.

I still think that new Jag looks terrible.

I wasn't overly keen until I saw one in person, it's impressive in the metal, though it's not going to meet everyones tastes.

Yeah you're right, change the entire shape of the front end and it does look similar. The only instant resemblence is the bulge on the lights, a hell of a lot of cars have a single central grill, it's also sometihng that's featured on many Jaguars over the years so that's moot. Like I said, the only instant resemblence is the bulge on the lights, and even then the lights are different. You can pick parts from other cars out of practiacally every car currently in production, the simple fact is 90%+ of design ideas have been used somewhere in some aspect before.

Well, its better than the S-Type. I hated that car. Yes, and two of my uncles have them.

...But, for the XF, all is forgiven. Especially with that interior...

Now see I didn't like the interior, it seemed like it had a lot of crap that would break on it...like the gear selector dial that rises from the centre console. I don't know, maybe it will be awesome and it will be better than it predecessor...I just have a hard time getting over how goofy the exterior looks.

That gear selector dial doesn't seem like that great of an idea. It just seems weird, but soon enough there probably will be touch-screen gear selection.

I love it!

I'm absolutely certain that I'd dearly miss the "old-school" wood-filled ways of the previous S-Type and what life is left of the XJ, but we do have to embrace some level of current trends in the new cars, and I think the XF has done a cracking good job at making something that would otherwise be German have a bit of British flair... It isn't overly outrageous and tech-filled, its "neat" and "stylish" in the very least. Reserved, yet, pushing boundaries forward.

I'm looking forward to seeing one in person this winter either in Detroit or Chicago. I'm very excited indeed!

I love the new M3 tickles my senses :D

That was easily the funniest of the season, everything had me laughing. Clarkson and the apple was great.

Did you guys know that there's a Hammondville, Alabama?

The XF is ok... but I wish it had been more true to the concept, it now looks too much like a Buick at the front. Its too roundy... I'm not slagging off Buick because we owned one.. LeSabre

Three things that came to my mind when seeing the XF interior...

1. All those electrically moving things are going to fail, the rotating vents yeah nice touch but its going to so obviously break or chop someones finger off...and the knob rising up, thats gonna break, think how much you turn the car on and off!

2. Whats stopping someone accidentally putting the car into a different gear with that knob... so easy to nock it and put it in neutral or reverse by accident.

3. Blue led's don't automatically equal young appeal, don't get me wrong I like them but it looks a bit gimmicky like all the moving stuff.

They should have just made a 4 door XK in my eyes...

Robin

I'm sure there is a locking mechanism that keeps the dial from rotating.

That picture just screams awesomeness. I need a wallpaper-sized version.. lol.

EDIT: I love this part of the article:

"You will have noticed by now that the Stig appears in these photographs. He materialised from a forest somewhere near Nitz, stood in the middle of the road and held up his hand for us to stop. I then rode shotgun as he thraped the GT-R for 20 minutes, absolutely flat-out, saying nothing. He then stopped and walked into another forest near Fensterseifen."

Someone needs to make an avatar of Clarkson dressed like a BMW owner... OMG he looked hilarious! with his white cravat, garish sunglasses and his bluetooth headset!

Anyone got a pic of that?

I'm happy it did'nt look like the concept. The concept looked like a shocked pig on drugs for christ sake. Keep in mind that is just what I think!

*Slightly off topic*

Since the TG test track will be in GT5, the question is raised.. will GT5 allow customizable racing gear for your driver? And if so... how many of us will end up looking exactly like the Stig? Will they include Stig gear, you think?

Yep, bought the Top Gear magazine last week, Jeremy drives the F430 Scuderia against the stig in the GTR. Havnt read the article but it looks like a goodun.

Nnnnnoooot quite - the cover's a bit misleading; the GTR is tested against a 911 Turbo in Germany, the 430 is tested in GB and on the Dunsfold track.

Ah, see, told you I hadnt read it yet:D

I just watched the episode where JC test drives the VXR8, then the stig does his lap and I couldn't stop laughing at JC's commentary, hilarious!
