Top Gear starts 2 November, it's been confirmed.

Top Gear.com
Amidst all the excitement of sending the presenters off to Vietnam we seem to have forgotten to mention when the new series of Top Gear is actually back on the telly.

TV scheduling is of course a murky business, and one that’s largely out of the production team’s hands.

The BBC actually has dedicated scheduling people and they use a variety of techniques to decide when shows should be on air, often revolving around sacrificing a chicken and reading the entrails, throwing a variety of different sized fruits at a wall and seeing which ones stick or feeding a pile of DVDs to a cow and seeing which one gets pooed out first.

Although in fairness, all those things only happened when we let The Stig go on attachment to the scheduling department.

Anyway, the upshot is that Top Gear was going to be back on 26 October but then there turned out to be some sport on or something and as a result the new series will now start on Sunday 2 November.

So don’t move a muscle until then.

Actually you probably should move at least some muscles. Otherwise you’ll get really hungry and start to smell.

Makes me wonder if they'll show full episodes on the website now that they've had the makeover, and to that end, it seems pretty well-known that its an internet phenomenon here in the States.

Otherwise, looks like I'll be on FinalGear a lot.

It appears Clarkson was in a bit of a crash.

Mirror
Jeremy Clarkson injured in another Top Gear car crash

Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has had a miraculous escape in a high-speed car crash.

He suffered minor injuries to his legs, hand and back in the head-on collision during filming for the BBC show.

He described it as his first serious road traffic accident in 31 years.

Clarkson, 48, said: "My right index finger looked like a burst sausage, my left shin was fatter than my thigh and my back felt like someone had driven over it with a pile-driver."

In 2006, his co-host Richard Hammond survived a 315mph crash, also while filming.

Yesterday, from their Cotswolds home in Chipping Norton, Clarkson's wife Frances said: "My husband is fine."

I'm a little curious what happened.

Perhaps they were "testing" the safety equipment in another Cheap Car Challenge...

Looks like the world will be unleashed with another Topgear, this time Russia.

http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/top-gear-russia

By the end of the year there will be a Clarksonov, Hammondchenko and Mayovski roaming the frozen steppes of Russia. Probably in Ladas.

Yes, there’s going to be a Top Gear Russia. Made in Russia for the Russians. A bit like the Aussie TG, but with more back-to-front letters and fewer boomerangs.

Everything’s a bit hush-hush at the moment, but we know that it’s going to run for 15 episodes initially, around the end of this year. The Russian Top Gear magazine has been doing well over there since its launch in 2004, so hopefully the locals will be familiar with TG’s ‘ambitious but rubbish’ philosophy.

First up, though, we’ve got to find the local presenters. Rumours that Clarkson, May and Hammond will be making a guest appearance clad in bearskin hats remain unconfirmed.

We can’t imagine there’ll be any shortage of candidates for the arduous job of thrashing supercars around the beautiful Russian outback. Or whatever the Russians call the outback.

There’s no word on what studio or test track they’ll be using yet, but we have glorious visions of a giant Russian Clarkson firing up a Murcielago in a decommissioned nuclear silo, surrounded by hoards of TG faithful wrapped up in layers of wintery clothes.

And bearskin hats. It’s all about the bearskin hats.

I see both a Cooper and a 500 in there, so he's driving cars people own.

Thriller looks pretty good, the usual blend of destroying things and going fast in supercars.

I'm absolutely pumped for TG Russia, I can see it coming :dopey:

I have a feeling Top Gear Russia is going to be a bit more of a success than it's Australian counterpart. Something tells me Top Gear + Russia = Funny. Something the Australian show seems to be lacking thus far.

Thriller looks good. Maybe a bit too much cocking about (blowing up speed cameras?). I generally watch his vids to see him driving cars I could never hope to drive. The cocking about should be left to Top Gear (for the most part) in my opinion.

;)

Looks great!

Oh and notice the Veyron finally on the Top gear track!

Saw it yesterday.

(Added spoilers, since one guess proves to be right.)

A Zonda/Boat comparison again to me.
A cheap truck challenge.
A Veyron lap (finally...)
LP560 Review.
A drifting challenge maybe? With a C63? And maybe an M3?
An America special, with a Corvette, CTSV, and Challenger.
ISF Review.
Cheap bus challenge, or bus stunt.

Just guessing...

What will be on the season premier for those who want to know.

Motoring news and views from the usual team. Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May decide to buy second hand lorries, despite knowing almost nothing about the world of trucks, and then set about discovering how easy it is to be an HGV driver. Jeremy is also on the test track with a scary Porsche 911, a tame Lamborghini Gallardo and a surprisingly talented Labrador. And chat show legend Michael Parkinson is the Star In A Reasonably Priced Car.

Isn't the guy drifting the Mercedes the same who had his Lada overhauled by Lotus?

If it is, he's been practising.

Thats Mika Hakkinen, ex F1 champion (mclaren).

-> I wonder on how will 16.4 would perform on the track. I've also heard that Clarkson loved the ZR1. :)

I guess my guess was right. I'm going to add spoiler tags to me original post.

I've been curious about that since I first saw the thing. I'm guessing it will have a time right near the top, but probably not first. It handles moderately well for a car with it's weight, but it's sheer acceleration is what's going to help it.. it's going to come out of those corners like a rocket.

I'd like to change one if I can,

From me watching the trailer this morning some of the events happening in the new series.

The first is what you've put down as the Zonda and the Boat comparison, from looking at the video the Zonda appears to be on the TG test track (hence the tyre wall). I think we'll find that this boat thing has something to do with a Ferrari.

The final thing is that the Drifting thingy with Hakkinen is something to do with a piece done by James May about the Finnish being so good at motorsport, reason how I know? Well TG Magazine tells us all...The M3 we can see which is also drifting is also on the TG Test Track as well which suggests maybe another review?

EDIT: I looked at the M3 again and it looks like a M3 Saloon rather than the normal coupe. Although feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!

Yes you have a point there about the M3.

If you look closely at the first episode of season 11, you can see that the M3 Sedan was being used. I think, that it'll be up against the C63 Sedan? The ISF seems to be on the track too, so if anything, it'll probably be an ISF review, which compares it to the M3 Sedan which is its main rival.

May sounds really weird in that video aswell.

Topgear won a National Television Award last night and sent the Stig to collect it as they were filming. Quite comical shall we say...
