Unnecessary Censorship in the GT6 Text Chat Window

Probably because "bit" is the first three letters used in a word that means female dog? Maybe?

Hasselhoff was censored in GT5 (German for hate or something like that? Still, seems odd to censor it). Also, wasn't censorship censored in GT5? :odd::lol:

Edit: Censorship isn't censored in GT6, Hasselhoff is (spelling may be incorrect), maybe Kaz doesn't like him. :sly:

Edit 2: Healthcare is, another carry over from GT5, maybe they don't want us bragging about the NHS.

I get the reason behind the censorship filter, but:
  1. It causes problems with conversations that doesn't include bad words
  2. Anyone can just avoid the filter by putting a space in between each letter
  3. What about voice chat?
Just scrap the filter.
I agree. Kids are still able to hear the loudmouths via voice chat which is what they usually use.

The censorship is horrible. Imagine what happens when you try to write in foreign (not English) language...half of the normal words are being censored. Another fail from PD.

Ok I'll probably give up on making a list of words, it will be too long and pointless lol, I'll update the OP when we can single out key things about it. It seems like there's some sort of algorithm that's in place to find words within words, but it's still not clear eg @et_ Someone else mentioned connection yesterday so I tried it and it was uncensored for me, along with quite a few other words beginning with con. So maybe different countries may have different 'dictionaries' they refer to? But this doesn't make sense as a lot of people are saying it's impossible to chat in their native tongue, so if different countries have their own dictionaries, there's no spanish or german dictionary for example?

Yes, I'm aware of that circumvention.
But it's still a pain in the ass to type in a whole sentence (e.g. I'm typing with the DFGT) which is completely censored afterwards.
Sometimes, I have a few attempts to find out, which word I have to alter "l ik.e th i.s" to get around this stupid filter.
Not funny I can tell you, not funny...:irked:

On top of that, a few PSN IDs are censored as well, although displayed fine on the right list of participants inside a lobby.
So you want to adress somebody for any reason and the sentence is censored because of a bad string of letters in somebodys ID.:banghead:

I would like to point out that the word 'Ballet' is censored! :D

It probably means something else in another language, but in English it means:
ballet-san-jose-student-1.jpg

That said, I do find the above performing art INCREDIBLY offensive... ;)

Is the word "engine" still censored? :banghead:

PD shouldn't be responsible for the words people use online, it's ridiculous when you're talking to somebody and you have no idea why you just got censored on the paragraph you just typed up.

You can bypass the filter quite simply by putting spaces between the letters so... it's full of fail.

What drives me insane is how the stupid filter *'s out your entire sentence/text instead of just the word. They need to get rid of the censor thing all together, people say the same language on mics so why censor text? It's not the end of the world if a 12 year old sees someone drop the f bomb on screen, most know the words already for a long time (at least where I grew up). Also as the person above said, you can just put spaces between each letter (which I do), which makes the censor thing pointless.

Here's one that I found ironically amusing:

'Prohibited'

:odd:

(Testing showed that 'bite' was the bit triggering the autocensor....)

PD is allowed to use that word, but we are not. Are they just messing with us or what? Sheehsh2!

Falcon was censored in GT5, I don't know about GT6 though. I guess having "con" at the end of the word also gets it censored.

"Con" is absolutely ridiculous because its a very used word in spanish and obviously not offensive
Also in italian con = with

Bite in french means penis

Anyway they should just remove the censorship. Most of the time it makes me so angry I end up writing *************

oops I did it again

Maybe it just censor it if there is a person form the country where it is a dirty word in the lobby? i.e. con means c*nt in french, so it will only censor it if there is a french person in the room?
