Unnecessary Censorship in the GT6 Text Chat Window

I wasn't aware this forum was conducted in French. Looks a lot like English to me.
What the hell is wrong with this world when an English speaking forum can censor English words owing to a possible conflict with a French word.

The swear filter automatically censors swear words out; such as ****, ****, ****, etc.

OK, I didn't actually type out any words that are subject to to the filter, but more to the point, this thread doesn't cover swear words censored out by GTP, but the ones that are unnecessarily censored in GT6's chat box.

This isn't censorship for this forum, it's on about the chat window in GT6 online...

You can say con, conrod, contemplate, contact con-whatevertheheckyouwant in this forum...

I've discovered that Pajero, as in Mitsubishi Pajero, is censored. Makes it a bit hard to talk about the car.

I believe the word Pajero is a bad word in Spanish, it means something like masturbation or something? I just remember as a kid that we called them 3 diamond wankers.

That is most likely because of the work 'suk' being part of Tsukuba, pretty lame imo.

I agree that profanity should be censored @atiger, this thread is for words that are censored but shouldn't be. I can kind of understand 'xxx' and 'whippersnapper', but how are 'pitted' and 'eased' profanities?

It's also interesting that shorthand like 'ffs' is allowed, even though everyone the world over knows what it means

Good grief, Sony. Someone needs to redo the censored words in the chat, it makes talking about some cars (or parts of cars) seem like bad words.

You're playing a G rated game. A game suitable for children. If you wish to play adult games, play games with adult ratings, although if you go online you will be confronted by the same 12 year olds who seem to occupy every GT6 lobby, so I guess it doesn't make much difference. Except that a R18 game won't have language constraints.

Actually... Don't know if you play GTA V, but weirdly enough if you send a text message to someone in the multiplayer and it contains swearing, you won't be able to send the message.

IN GTA... :sick:
 
Was doing some drifting in a Cops room the other day, and found out that loitering is censored lol.

The cop kept yelling, " No **********"

"NO ************!!!!"

"NO L O I T E R I N G!!! ffs".

Needless to say I was rollin' :lol:

Did I miss something? Wasn't the censorship like it would delete the whole message not just the bad word? :boggled:

That's because it contains "agina" - this system seems to censor swear words and words that are 1 letter away
 
These words are censored because GT's online chat is in "Gran Turismoish", not English. Gran Turismoish has almost all English words but all the words stated here are known profanity words in Gran Turismoish.

Out of my head...the word "Fica" wich is portuguese for the scandalous english"Stay" is censored.
(I heard a rumour it's a common Italian slang therm?)

EDIT: On a positive note, WEED is allowed ;)

There are a lot of filthy words in Gran Turismoish, some of which are common non-profane English words. Some are even names of real people.
