Oh, I know... I was just saying that it isn't actually all the way like the way an actual race would be run, which is what Neil was originally shooting for. I, in no way, mind how it's being run, and fully abide by the rules. I was just making sure Neil understood that when ever possible bit, because I think he might've missed it. And he might not of. But either way, it's all good. :)

Fuel doesn't make a difference???
Well, Lap by Lap my times get better. I run my fastest lap at the end of the race only on fumes !
I also checked out Nuvolari's Altezza.....the 100Kg does make a big difference. A lot better on the brakes as the Subaru, a little weak in power compared to the Subaru. Some very fast turns I have to lift where the Altezza just goes through without even thinking about it.
The Altezza is a fine machine, I'm very impressed. 👍

Hey now, be careful there. Don't hate on the WRS, just because we work together to get everyone to improve their driving style and their speed does not make it a stupid little game of can you top this. That hurts man, that hurts. I'd be no where near as fast as I am without the WRS. And it's fun. You don't have to be on top to have fun. :grumpy:

You must be in a torrid pain right now. Look Jon what you did to the poor guy.

So, I suck at the 'Ring. I love it, but hate it. Tried to run a clean one today and was nearly perfect to lap 6. Had a small off and I guess I must've tapped the wall somewhere and instead of my normal pitstop, I got a drive through (or dead tires).

!!!

Couldn't start another decent run before the Champ Car race started on TV.

I did run against traffic to see if the game would allow me to pit. It did!! Should have finished the race just to get an idea of my pace, but I was too mad and restarted.

GRR!!

Hope the real race season isn't this frustrating because it's driving me CRAZY!!

BTW, fuel weight DOES make a difference in my experience. Using B-Spec on long races, I notice that if I refuel ever pitstop, Bob drives about the same fastest lap, but if I let it run "light", he goes faster on an empty tank.

Can I feel the difference on the track? Hard to say.

We'll just wait to hear about how much he learns over in this neck of the woods. I think he already has an appreciation of how steep the JGTC learning curve is.

Indeed... The WRS was a gradual learning curve... This is a BAM, you have ONE WEEK to learn it ALL! w00h00! Ok, back to this race, I hope to have a completely clean one, and faster of course, in the next couple hours... :)

Ooops! ^That^ was me, I forgot to log my roommate out, he was just on my computer...

Gonna have another go tonight, didn't have time to run today, had a Car Show again ,and out of 75 cars I won "Overall Best of Show" YEAH MAN !!!!!!! Beat out 30 Mustangs, a few Firebirds, Chevelles and GTO's. Highest points 189 out of 200.....I'm flying high!!!! Sorry for the off subject, but I'm just thrilled crapless. Value of my car just went up a few grand. The second place car was a 1965 GTO Tri Power and it was for sale at $39,000.He was a bit pissed off at the Judges..
OK gloating time is over, I'm going back to my racing room and run the Ring and maybe get a clean run to submit.

Well, just went off on my 5th lap. That's it for me for this competition, thanks for getting it all setup Neil, learned a LOT, obviously. I figure I would've done about a 56 flat with that race, oh well. I need to go get some other stuff done so I can get started with R1 tonight!!! :D

To all the new members of the JGTC series who have been attempting this race.

Don't lose heart!

The actual series races are nowhere near as difficult. I had a quick go with an '01 Supra and could barely keep it on the track; these cars are definitely not suited to the 'ring. I had 1 clean lap out of 6, and 3 penalties in the meantime.

Once we get underway on the sort of tracks we normally use for the season, I'm sure everyone will find it a bit easier.

Unless, of course, everyone voted for the nurburgring when they submitted their questionnaire.... :scared:

I QUIT!!!

:grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy:

It's a dry day in Northern California (where the levees are on the verge of making the Central Valley the next Katrina disaster due to all the rain we've been getting) and the kids are outside playing.

The Champ car race was boring so I thought I'd give it ONE MORE TRY!!!

RM/RM to start, passing AI by the hump in the front straght. Little bit of rubbing, but no penalty.

Good first lap around 6'28ish
Second lap, tires are Ghandi, so I pit. No fuel. RH/RH.

Next three laps are SMOOTH! Fastest lap of 6'24.844. Previous fastest race lap was in the 6'24s as well, but that was on RM/RM in a dirty race.

Pit, RH/RH, get a splash of fuel. Next two laps again smooth! Comfortably running 6'25.xxx laps. Going up the hill to the Agst Kurve on Lap 8 I FRICKIN' RUN OUT OF GAS!!!

AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!

So, take is how you will, but my composite time assuming another 6'25ish lap would've been somewhere around 52'20.XXX being conservative on my pit lap times.

Where are all the other GT500 runners BTW? I agree with VT that these stiffly spring sleds are not suited for the 'Ring. What I would have liked to see is this:

Any number of races of shorter duration making up 8 laps. That way at least you can watch the entire race on replay, and you don't waste an entire race due to a small brainfart or contact. This way I'd race 2 laps on RM, restart, 3 laps on RH, restart, 3 laps on RH. Maybe finish the race in the pit lane so at least you'd need the skillz to smoothly enter... Then add 'em all up. Crash on the second race? No big deal, first race is in the bag, try again, and there you go.

Of course this probably ins't the racing image inteded by this series, but the fact that I can't watch my entire race afterwards to critique and record laps/splits is somewhat a bummer to me. I guess I could always hook up the VCR and record it! :^)

Oh well.

Thanks, Neil, for the distraction and ulcer. Now I'm WAY behind with the Z at ElCap!

Guys,Guys,Guys!!!

I know this is a difficult challenge,

That's why I set it for myself!

I wanted to push myself,
to see what I could do,
to see what the car could do!

I was encouraged to post it as a 'series' challenge, by others!
But that is not an excuse, it's a reason.

As to the walls thing that seems to be bothering some..........

IMO if you hit a wall, however lightly, it's dirty!

If a BTCC car hits/brushes a wall at 130 mph it's generally unpleasant!
If a NASCAR car hits/brushes a wall at 150 mph it's generally bad!
If an F1/Indy car hits/brushes a wall at 170mph it's generally VERY BAD!!

In GENERAL hitting/tapping/brushing a wall or barrier is...........bad!
It's bad driving, it's dangerous, so, if we are racing a 'simulation'..........

why allow it in OLR?

This is only my opinion, and guys in the WRS know that I do have some strongly held opinions.

But if this is not your opinion, fine.

Rubbing is racing, tapping a barrier or wall is crashing!

Neil

Have changed my mind, and this can still run on if you guys still want to race it in your spare time!

That is if WRS, JGTC racing etc,etc allows you any time!
Leaderboard updated!

have yet to take a stab on this, but it looks fun... IMO racing cars are more suited for the ring than any crap road tires car.:yuck: i just hate road tires. anyway, this brings me a flashback. my first ever contact with GT4 was a lap at the ring with the woodnone supra, back in december of 2004... oh, what a memory. i remember i almost cry when i saw the intro of the game...:dopey:
