What's on next week? I forgot.:dunce:

Edit: Never mind.

Another fun filled episode of Top Gear tonight, I've never met a girl my age attracted to young hoons in their riced up bling mobiles though. I am really looking forward to next week's GTHO :D:D, of course it won't compare to modern day vehicles, but to see such a classic muscle car in action will be awesome! And to think the Stig will be getting his hands on it too :D:dopey::drool:.

Pizza Hut forgot to mention that the R33 in that test was a Top Secret one - the same people who did the V12 Supra.
I saw that exact car in the classifieds about 3 years ago. They apparently put something like AUD150000 into it - selling it for AUD90K. I thing it was making close to 800-1000hp...but probably wrong.

That test would be the total opposite for me. I always think that girls think guys in ricers (no matter how serious they are) look like tossers - so that's a suprise. A good suprise though was the fact us men don't look as bad in a Porsche as we think.:dopey:

Well the speed limiterless GTR certainly gained some time.

Yer the GTHO Phase III, almost the birth and death of Aussie mucle cars.
It took until GenIII, to beat the 1/4 mile time of a factory produced Aussie car.

I hope he winds her up down Conrod, if he's got the balls he could get 160mph!!!

Wasn't a bad episode. I wish the 4x4 thing would have been a little longer though instead of thrown into a montage. I was finding it more entertaining than the mail delivery challenge. The sex appeal thing was pretty good too.

forgetting something? :D

I loved the Torana Advert, Hatch Hutch, I wonder how well that actually sold.

The mail run was a big let down, because the Smart broke 150kms in to the test.

The GTR deinately gives the Porsche a run for the money.

Garry Sweet was a bit alright. The only problem with the Celebrity guests are they are basically SBS people. (obvious exceptions are Race Drivers, and a few comedians).

All in all episode rates 7 / 10.

Yeah no. Plenty of awesome Aussie muscle between then and the Gen III.

I did say almost.

AND there is no way I would forget the actual death:D

Paulie @ I never said the weren't ANY, I mean't a lot of time and tech and probably red tape, to beat the official time set by a factory Aussie built car.

Nice episode to finish up series 2.

The GTHO Phase 3 was and is a beast.

The luxry car section was a little boring. but great to see some gadgets that should make it to the average car in about five years or so.

Star in a bog standard car, was a bit of a shock, beacuse it did not look like he was going that fast.

I wonder if SBS will play out the rest of the unseen series of TGUK or maybe (fingerscrossed) we will get the next season we have not seen yet (12 or 13?)

I thought it was pretty mediocre really, pretty much what I expected. Would have been nice to see them compare it to other Australian muscle cars of the time.

The GTHO was absolutely awesome, the sound and looks made it the coolest car they had all season. Of course it handles like an old muscle car, because that's what it is!:dopey: They actually handled pretty good for an old beast like that it looked, not much body roll either. I also loved their muscle car couches, what awesome ideas, looked comfy, and I want one. Oh and the Monaro one clearly got more cheers.:p

This episode wasn't all that great. I didn't really care about the Cayanne diesel or the luxo barges they drove around. The GTHO wasn't all that exciting either but I find old muscle cars like that to be rather boring.

You've never seen those before? I know quite a few people that have couches like that, albeit an American car. They are insanely expensive and heavy, although they are decently comfortable.

I've only ever seen car seats used as couches, but never a boot like a couch like that. I hope they weren't real cars before that though.:odd: Chopping up a HK Monaro to make a couch would be criminal.

Those couches have been around for a long time, have you never been to a rare-spares Paulie? Or some hot rod/muscle car exhibition. Also the rear end of that "Monaro" doesn't actually mean it's a Monaro, the Monaro shares the same far rear profile as the sedans (even the boot/trunks are identical), I highly doubt they used a actual monaro rear for that and the one shown in TG AU was a HT rear end.

Are you sure? I could have sworn I seen the HK tail lights, but I suppose they would be on the boot which wasn't present?

Edit: Look, these would be the guys they got the couches from, and they don't use real cars to do it. But look at the price! $2,750, Joey was right.

Edit 2: I don't know why I thought I saw HK tail lights that stretch across the boot.:dunce:

Well the HK lights don't stretch across the boot, thats a molded trim peice, but yeah the above lights are HT. (and XY for the Falcon, XY lights angle in while XW do not)

Straight up the HK taillight is totally different to the T and the G, These taillights were used in both the four and two-door versions of the HK.

And this on the HT.

And this on the HG.

p.s. please excuse the dodge pics

Nether the T or the G ran a red trim across the boot between the taillights as they did in the HK's

I'm learnding! These cars are VERY long before my time, I would have been able to tell the difference on the road, but the actual details I can't recite.:sly:

Well your almost right :sly:, As you can see here both the taillights are the same shape and size, however the earlier XW has two separating bars through it with the indicator positioned in the center.
And as Jay said the lense on the XW's do angle in towards the boot lid slightly.

Where-is the later XY has only one separating bar with the brake and indicator positioned top and bottom as see here.👍

Just so you are all aware this starts back up again this coming Tuesday.

Here is what FinalGear had to say about it...

Final Gear
Top Gear Australia and it’s new hosts will be back at 7:30PM this Tuesday on Channel 9. It will be a 90 minute special where the hosts go visit the hosts of the British version of Top Gear.

I hope it's not dreadful.

I actually enjoyed this attempt.
The Two new hosts (and Steve from SBS) were not too bad with each other. I think they could meld a little better, but that will take a little time.

The only little error I saw, was them leaving the peanuts on Steve's roof of his TR7 after the Baboon incident.
Overall I think the new TGA could have some potential.

I actually just finished watching it a couple minutes ago and I was decently impressed, it was funny and was more along the lines of Top Gear instead of whatever we got the past two seasons. I'll be curious to see how it works out as a normal show though without the Top Gear guys (and budget) helping out.

And it's now on Youtube...

Good to see the TWR Urban Testing Prototype getting a workout

I can't stand the Aussie TG show!!!! What the ef is Kenny the toilet cleaner doing hosting a car show? And not just any car show, but TOP GEAR! The drive on the Isle of Mann was pathetic because quite obviously none of them can drive. Steve Pizzati is as big a loudmouth as ever and that 3rd bloke got understeer while trying to drift.

Grrrr I hate our version so much I'm actually ashamed to be Australian when this is on TV. Putting them up next to Clakson, Hammond and May makes our show look pathetic. Yay lets do hotlaps of Oran Park with Warren Luff and a falcadore 👎

/rambling rant

Just as a heads up Top Gear Australia will return August 30th.
