And I'll expand on my previous post by adding on-board cameras, especially ones at odd angles that don't allow you to see anything to do with the racing.

Bumper cams, / roof cams* / F1 over the shoulder cams are all cool when they add a different perspective to the action. But I would prefer it if the driver cams were left for the pre / post race 'extra' segments.

*I also wish they would stop using movable roof cams, as it throws the sense of movement out of whack. NASCAR is pretty bad at this, Supercars are doing it now too. In NASCAR it often seems like a car is spinning out when it's just a sudden move of the camera and in Supercars they miss a bunch of action when in the middle of a dice it starts swinging back and forth trying to keep up with the cars around it!

/cranky pants...none of this actually bothers me that much, I'd just prefer it without
 
The idea of running open wheel race cars on high speed ovals is flawed and more drivers will die in Indycar in the next few years.

Speaking of interviews, 99% of the time they bring absolutely nothing to the broadcast and are mostly for shilling sponsors.

I'm just waiting for the moment where a driver blurts out the slogan of their sponsor company in an interview.

I can't stand it when race coverage switches to pit lane interviews, excessive time spent watching pitstops, constant replays of things that just happened, etc. Keep the cameras on the cars, I can hear your pitlane interview just fine, I don't need to see the guys face.

I hate footage of pit stops during the race, especially when they cut away from action on the track. Drives me nuts! I want to watch racing, not someone doing 60km/h.

Coverage of pit stops can easily be done with a smaller, picture-in-picture window, or with a replay since usually nothing happens anyways.

That's not an Unpopular Motorsport Opinion though. It's something pretty much everyone who watches motorsport would agree with.

An unpopular opinion would be my opinion about Michael Schumacher not deserving a single world championship.
 
I'm not a fan of the army of reporters that cover pit strategies in NASCAR when groups pit together since there's not too much to say.
 
IMSA needs to abandon LMP2 next year and just run the new DPi.

The whole point of stuffing P2 and DP together was to show the series was merged (which was a horrible idea but that opinion is kind of popular), DPi being the new LMP2s but with a DP twist on it pretty much does that, we don't need LMP2 or DP to stick around anymore. DPs are going but LMP2s should go too IMO.

I really do wish I was around then to experience it. Growing up in the 2000s the only thing to really peak during that time for me to watch was V8Supercars. Now when I see videos of Indycar or NASCAR from the 90s, especially Indycar, and I see the enormous packed crowds at speedways that aren't Indy, it's remarkable.
 
Broadcasting team radio on the telly during a race kills the spectacle.

Agreed, don't mind going back if there's contact/some interesting overtake, but I don't need to watch a replay of the same overtake in to turn one that I saw in real-time four times again and missing 2-3 laps in the mean time...
 
Not sure if unpopular, here goes : GP500 is way better than MotoGP.

I miss the days of Wayne Rainey, Eddie Lawson, Kenny Roberts, Kevin Schwantz, Randy Mamola, Max Biaggi, Mick Doohan, Gary McCoy etc.

They could have replayed it for a constant two hours during last weekend Hungarian GP without missing any of the on track action.
 
I'm not gonna make any friends with this one, but I'll say it anyways:
In terms of entertainment, IndyCar and NASCAR are way better than F1. I just find the races in these series more entertaining to watch than F1. Still a big F1 fan, though.

I thought that's a common thought and pretty much a fact (even when NASCAR lost me with competition cautions and clocks).

The idea is that the car was so good that any idiot could have won with it. Whether or not that stands up under scrutiny is beside the point - it was mostly a way of undermining Vettel. There's an unwritten rule that once you win your third title, you're a legend of the sport. And both 2010 and 2012 will be remembered as vintage seasons, but Red Bull dominated in 2011 and 2013, and so for people who didn't want to acknowledge Vettel as a legend, they were a convenient excuse.
 
I find the comments about him being a "whiny bitch" always way more confusing. He's a really humble and down to earth person, also found him to be a great sportsman all the time. He's one of the few current F1 drivers I'd love to hangout with (him and Kimi of course :D).
 
If Vettel was in a Mercedes, he would easily be able to win a 5th and 6th championship this year and last. But if you put any of the Red Bull or Ferrari guys in a Mercedes, i'm sure they would have a great shot at winning the title.

I did not like him at all when he was at RB. Part of that would have been me being a Webber fan. However, since he moved to Ferrari I found him to be much nicer.

I love Webber, I liked him even before his F1 time, both were also getting along fine (well, most of the time at least), but this never changed my opinion about Vettel.

Rosberg on the other hand turned from a nice guy to a complete jerk, at least in front of the cameras and on the track.
 
Vettel definitely had a poor attitude in his RB days - he used to get very flustered when things didn't go his way. Despite his occasional outbursts now he seems a much more rounded individual and it's the kind of attitude befitting a 4-time champion. He acts like a confident veteran driver.

This is a hard one for me to articulate properly, but I think people with this way of thinking have it all wrong. You won't cop flak for saying that NASCAR or Indycar is more entertaining than F1, because you're probably right. I know full well that a NASCAR race will probably have a last lap pass, a photo finish, 100 lead changes, spectacular crashes, etc, but I'd still rather watch an F1 race.

I switched on to watch some of the XFinity race this morning (my time), was quite happy watching it until I got sick of the constant ads, then I remember that the Spa 24 was on. I don't need to watch the NASCAR race because I already know what will happen - the race will be going just fine, then there will be a yellow, either due to a lame spin or 'debris', there will be a bunch of crashes, someone will wreck someone else and the commentators will be constantly telling me just how amazing, historic, epic and awesome it is.....but I just don't care anymore!

Again, it's hard to explain properly, but that's just how it is for me (and F1 isn't my number 1 in terms of excitement or amount watched either....)

And I think everyone got the "I don't care about Danica Patrick" (paraphrased there) comment completely wrong.
 
Nah I don't really like him,(Re: Vettel) still has his little outbursts in the car, doesn't seem like that nice a guy.

In terms of personality, my favourite would have to be Ricci or Jenson.
